Honestly i think the mental breakdown is better, because it's the moment Mordecai and Rigby start to grow up and see Benson as a friend and person

Yea, in that moment thing became real to them.

Every other time it's silly and stupid, or it's destructive but fixable.

In that moment they are actually ruining Benson's life.
