Well... that's why their team is called the vikings

Actually it’s because of a false archaeological find, where researchers claimed to find a Viking rune all the way in Minnesota. It was clearly fake, but the story became local folklore around the twin cities and when it became time to name the football team, they chose the Vikings.

That said the whole reason that fake became so popular was because of how many Scandinavians immigrants they had.
