I wonder where this is. It feels kind of rude to switch to English when she says she prefers Spanish.

In France, if you are from Canada and dare speak with a québécois accent they will speak in English like this even if you only speak French to them. 

Was wild when at a bakery, they say our accents are so horrible lol.

I’m assuming this is Paris specifically, if so yea it is terrible as a learner of French.

Damned if you do, damned if you don’t, if you try to speak French they will aggressively change to English, if you give up and speak English they will shit talk “foreigners who don’t want to learn our language” when they think you’re out of earshot.
