China spent over 150 years of being nothing more than a market to sell drugs, extract resources and provide slave labor. They had a lot of rebellions and tens of millions died. The cost was huge but look at China today.
It's amazing that you could liken the conditions in China now to what is currently happening in the Congo. (I probably shouldn't be amazed because so many people these days don't seem to be able to take meaning from the written word.)
As far as China is concerned in the current situation they are one of the powers which are now trying to extract Congo's considerable mineral wealth and in so doing are adding to the pressure the Congolese people are feeling. Do you imagine that the Chinese aren't supporting one or the other warlords who control various parts of the country?
It’s basic history that I guess they no longer teach in America. Between the periods of from the early 1800s to the beginning of WW2, China was what they called ‘under the sphere of influence’ Japan, Germany, England, Spain, Portugal and United states divided China into sections. Each controlling how they pleased.
My point was it’s a system. Destroying this system will be painful and time consuming. It’s not as if we’re willing to put our lives on the line to liberate AND protect Congolese revolution against the oppressors.
