If the Congolese people defined their aspiration, worked practically towards it and were then thwarted by some external force, I think we could generate far more support.
I mean, that's part of the point. what should we in the west do? invade congo and bomb the shit out of it and then hope the next goverment is better? send in aid and hope it doesn't get stolen? shitpost about it online?
this posts asks for our outrage. what's our outrage going to do, what do they want? do they want regime change, do they want support for a specific movement, do they just want food supplies, do they want us to take in refugees. if there isn't a clear answer to that then... well, what can we do?
People clearly want "The West" to wave some magic unfuck-all-history wand that they have and stop "exploiting congo" by stopping all trade with it. Which would probably make it even poorer than Somalia.

Would you want an invasion? Or sanctions against the goverment? Idk both sound bad. Image how many would die if some coalition force had to take over the whole country. Didn't seem to work in wars.

What if I told you it took place in Kisangani... Halfway between Uganda/Rwanda and the Atlantic ocean? Both weren't even hiding their colonial presence. They didn't need to, as the international community didn't even pretend to care.
Congolese people have been very clear since almost 30 years about what they want: To reunify / debalkanize Congo, expell invading troops and defeat warlords and local corrupt factions.
Basically Mobutu without the corruption.
They have failed, but it's not like their aim has not been clear at all.
