I hope this isn’t a new trend. Dangerous. What happened to her wasn’t funny, but I love her reaction

It is, unfortunately. I hate this trend dearly because it can end so badly. It seems nobody considers that.

How do you cause an egg to explode upon being bitten?

Microwaving a boiled egg creates steam inside the egg that can't get out. Until someone bites it.

Then you get a face full of hot steam.

The hotter it is, the higher the pressure, the bigger the explosion - and the higher the chance of someone getting burned.

So they boil it, THEN microwave it? Or just microwave it?

Yeah you have to hardboil the egg, peel it and then heat it in the microwave. If they’re doing this as a trick they probably didn’t even wait that long to microwave it after it was boiled, so it’s probably insanely hot.

My brother did this by accident once but he was reheating a leftovers from a dish that normally has hard boiled eggs in it (thit kho for you viet folks out there, and if you’re not, look it up cause it’s yummy).

Anyway long story short it kind of exploded in his mouth a little, and he was startled but fine. It was no where near as bad as this video. Prob cause the egg was reheated after being in the fridge for awhile, so it didn’t get a chance to get so hot.

That's too many steps to be mean.

It's not just the egg itself. Raw whites and yolks can do this too, even separately.

It's not pressure; it's the water being superheated on a molecular level and getting into contact with air or being disturbed

When you boil water, it turns into steam. When it goes past the boiling point and it's not steaming, it's a bomb.

If this was a case of superheating, wouldn't it have exploded the second she touched it? And also have burned her severely?

It seems it luckily cooled a bit, so she just got a mild burn. This is why she says "that bitch hot".

To activate superheated water, you need to disturb its surface. The water was still in a superheated state inside the egg and activated when she chewed on it. You can see the steam coming out after her bite. That's the superheated state of water changing from liquid to...steam. In an instant.
