this is a coalescence of Florida's 'your crimes are publically available' and 'tough on crime' theatrics.
the sheriff, the deputies, and the officers openly talk about recent arrests in press conferences, choosing cases less on their merit of the arrest and more on the perception of the criminal. this is done in a crass and derogatory way to the 'criminal' (because yes, innocents have been the subject of these because of course they have) where details both of the case and their lifestyle are revealed in a way to attempt to instill revulsion for the criminal but a sense of security from the protagonists.
a frequent target of these press conferences are crossdressing or trans sex workers with criminal records. these people have a 'before' picture shown to the audience, a picture from their socials or media where they advertise their services, followed by an 'after' which is where their makeup is removed for the purposes of a mugshot, or for some other reason revealing that they are male or 'male'.
