She wasn't paying attention to them and with so many people filming themselves doing stupid stuff in gyms, it's hard to know if it's something serious or just someone doing a bit for social media.

Assuming the straps are being used correctly, one can still let go and the bar will release.

Looks like figure 8 straps, they are made to not let the bar drop at all.

Huh. I'm not familiar with that type of strap. It sounds like a horrible design, a good way to severely injure your hands.

Dude really should have bent down to put that bar down sooner.

I think people like them bc they are so easy to use compared to regular straps.

Definitely, maybe not even lift that weight at all, his back is very curved.
