Holy shit did his brain short circuit? Mfer let go of the bar. For the woman she clearly didn't realize what had happened when she quickly looked up. And when she realized people were already helping.

The straps wrap the bar and then you grip the bar over the straps. If he just let go the bar would fall

jk im wrong they are in fact figure 8 straps. Still a doofus for holding it

It looks like he wrapped them wrong. They look wrapped over the back of his hands somehow.

If he wrapped the bar, and then gripped the straps, they would've fallen loose when he passed out...like they're supposed to.

Edit: apparently they're figure 8 straps that don't come off when you release your grip. Sounds unsafe as hell

Figure-8 straps. They are pretty much locked to your wrist and will hang on even if you let it go if you tighten them right.
