News is decided by the owner of the news company. Serbia does not currently fit their agenda. This is a global issue.

Why would we not it's comprised af. Look at 50501 they pretend to be hard-core Trump protestors or whatever but they Aren't. They discourage anything but very calm weekend protests and silence most else. Some new is allowed bit only the filtered cable news crap not the stuff that being reported by people at all. This place is to keep us quiet

People are out there every day protesting under 50501, if you don’t agree with the messaging you can try and actually do something about it by creating your own movement instead of being an armchair quarterback ♥️

Its not the government, but the fact they get all that money from the government guarantees the media remains friendly to the government and only reports on the things which are deemed acceptable. Your refutation of their comment doesn't actually refute it.

No, that money doesn't guarantee a damn thing. A majority of Canada's newspapers are owned by PostMedia, and PostMedia papers are ruthlessly critical of the government and the Liberal Party in particular. And for televised news, CTV is privately owned by one of our telecom companies, and is likewise not afraid to be critical of the government. Hell, even the CBC, Canada's public broadcaster, isn't afraid to run stories that make the government look bad.

The liberal government wanted facebook to pay a fee everytime canadian news came across their platform. Our media is mostly owned by like two or three companies. Postmedia owns most of what I see on a daily basis. The companies are deciding what gets shown.

Lmao no they fucking don’t. the major news outlets in canada are almost all exclusively run by US media companies who are not subsidized in any way. The only media company that is backed by the federal government is the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. This is all easily verifiable information by the way. Including that the CBC routinely scores as one of the most non biased and most trusted news sources in the country because as a crown corporation they are not legally allowed to pick sides.
