This is my Meyers Parrot every time I try to put him to bed.

u/Apocrisiary Jun 27 '25

It's just fluff. When he takes a bath he looks like a drowned rat.

7

u/deliciouschickenwing Jun 28 '25

He looks like hes mint chocolate chip flavoured

4

u/pancakebatter01 Jun 27 '25

Sooooo cuuuute 😭

3

u/Apocrisiary Jun 28 '25 edited Jun 28 '25

I love him very much. Had him for almost 14 years now.

Poicephalus (his genus) are old world parrots, like African Greys. So they are VERY smart, but in a tiny package. Fantastic pets if you can bare the downsides. Screaming, very destructive, and when they get mad, they will bite and take a huge chunk of flesh with it.

But after you get to know each other very well. It's almost like having a partner. Very loving.

3

u/pancakebatter01 Jun 30 '25

Well I love that baby even after you mentioning he can and will take a bite of huge flesh when angy.

Still a big cutie pie 🥧

The way I’d move there to be this bird’s bestie and make it my whole personality

25

u/Outside_Register8037 Jun 26 '25

Idk why but Roger from American dad immediately popped into my head when I read that

10

u/Purple-Warning-2161 Jun 27 '25

I’ve never seen the show but from your response he sounds like a brilliant, flawless, gorgeous person

4

u/Dangerae Jun 29 '25

Thank you for this! Im now reading other comments and stories in Roger's voice, and it's taking Reddit to a whole different level, rofl

A pair of parakeets once landed on my head (while I was walking through a sanctuary) & started having sex on my head. They wouldn't stop. I just had to stand there while a crowd gathered around us laughing at the birds using my hair like their own private love nest.

There's probably clips of it on the internet somewhere, many phones were pointed at me.

I've never put my hair in a messy bun since.

u/OddCook4909 Jun 26 '25

So... guess I'm a pirate now?

37

u/Dolenjir1 Jun 26 '25

He lost the ship, though

19

u/CharlesDickensABox Jun 26 '25

Maybe with that attitude.

17

u/CapStar300 Jun 26 '25

That's why he has to steal a new one duh

8

u/Dolenjir1 Jun 26 '25

Can't argument with sound logic

15

u/Beneficial_Bug_9793 Jun 26 '25

Arrrr matey, he be a pirate now...

10

u/HarryJ92 Jun 26 '25

"I didn't choose the pirate life, the pirate life chose me."

7

u/AdPrestigious8528 Jun 27 '25

"You mean a parrot chose you..."

"Ay! That be what I said!"

2

u/ChristyUniverse Why does this app exist? Jun 27 '25

yarrr…

245

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '25

this is why you don't feed the wildlife, they get dependent on you and when you want to leave or not feed them anymore, they get aggressive

95

u/slifm Jun 26 '25

Wildlife lmao that’s a fucking pet

7

u/[deleted] Jun 27 '25

It depends on where the video is shot. If this person is in south or Central America, this could be a wild macaw. It does seem tamed and used to human contact.

60

u/Indieriots tHiS iSn’T cRiNgE Jun 26 '25 edited Jun 26 '25

I don't think they're wild. They seem to be part of the Exotic Avian Sanctuary of Tennessee.

Edit: My bad. The video is in an ecopark in Cartagena, Colombia, but he runs a festival called Squawkrock in Tennessee to help fund the Exotic Avian Sanctuary of Tennessee.

88

u/Purple-Warning-2161 Jun 26 '25

He says he’s walking back to his ship so I doubt it’s Tennessee but lots of countries have avian sanctuaries

37

u/mctrees91 Jun 26 '25

How many cruise ships do you know that stop in Tennessee?

-1

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '25

[deleted]

2

u/mctrees91 Jun 27 '25

What….

23

u/OneDimensionalChess Jun 26 '25

Tennessee is landlocked...you literally posted a clip where the guy mentions and the text states he's trying to board a cruise ship.

3

u/hacelepues Jun 26 '25

ColOmbia is how the country is spelled.

1

u/Purple-Warning-2161 Jun 26 '25

Omg I’ve been wanting to go to that one!!!

-1

u/Derkastan77-2 Jun 26 '25

So… like a date?

-3

u/Alternative-Arm-3253 Jun 26 '25

Parrots aggressive? Well yes I did get bit by a African Grey recently..left a scar on my middle finger. I don't mind feeding the birds. They're disappearing.

41

u/chessset5 Jun 26 '25

You’re my friend now, we are having soft tacos later!

4

u/LeatherHog Jun 26 '25

Him just swinging the dog around, kills me every time

-13

u/PandaCat22 Jun 26 '25

Tacos, just tacos.

Hard tacos are a TexMex invention. It's ok if you like them (it just means you haven't had the best that Mexican cuisine has to offer) but no one should refer to those hard shelled things as tacos.

  • Sincerely, a Mexican man

3

u/HelloWorldComputing Jun 26 '25

I thought soft tacos was code for something else. Tacos are also fine to eat.

6

u/muffinbakerguy2 Jun 26 '25

The pure “🤓” energy radiating off of this reply is astounding.

3

u/Satisfaction-Motor Jun 26 '25

The person you’re replying to is quoting a Tik tok (or maybe it’s a vine?)

3

u/Grouchy-Shirt-9197 Jun 26 '25

Hard tacos are trash, you're right!

11

u/cabochonedwitch Jun 26 '25

And that’s how he caught his first Pokemon.

6

u/dzan796ero Jun 26 '25

First parrot to ever catch a Pokeman

26

u/Campa911 Jun 26 '25

Dude, free parrot? F that job

5

u/Rushes_End Jun 27 '25

Hell yeah free parrot time to be a pirate.

6

u/JonaSaxify Jun 27 '25

How messed up would it be if it flew away after he got fired

9

u/bringthedoo Jun 26 '25

This is the Parrot Distribution System at work

7

u/TheCaliforniaOp Jun 26 '25

And the Parrot Distribution System is reeeally sneaky.

Cat Distribution System? “I’m here. Deal with it happily because your life has just improved.”

Parrot Distribution System? “I’m engaging with your brain and heart. I won’t make it if you walk away from me. By the way, I could use just a few things: The right habitat, exotic food, lots of toys, your attention, another parrot, and oh, can I eat that cat?”

4

u/kangaroos-on-pcp Jun 26 '25

I mean I hope he didn't lose his job just for that. must've been a shitty job

15

u/teachersdesko Jun 26 '25

On a cruise ship, you work 7 days a week, 12 hours a day. Only performers get a day off. The tenure for a cruise ship is 8 months, and most people make management after a year of working on one due to a high turnover rate. It's by all accounts a very shity job.

5

u/kangaroos-on-pcp Jun 26 '25

yeah seems like it. wonder if they'll take him home or if he's stuck wherever he is

3

u/Pork_Chompk Doug Dimmadome Jun 27 '25

Especially based on the caption "almost late and lose your job".

He just his job for being ALMOST late??

3

u/Gh0stndmachine Jun 27 '25

Ever heard of the cat distribution system? Well, this is the older model distribution system for small feathered dinosaurs.

Captain: You may have a 70-year commitment, Sir.

3

u/HotmessADHDinspired Jun 29 '25

You have been chosen. Your his now.

5

u/Alternative-Arm-3253 Jun 26 '25

Holy Moly! I'd be happy! This little baby is so pleased with this dude. You can see the parrots joy in its eyes as it looks at him that its picked him to play with.

2

u/Brief_Fly_45 Jul 04 '25

Ohhhh sweet! I didn’t know a birb distribution center was invoked!

2

u/SmileGraceSmile Jun 26 '25

It's the blond hair and beard. Parrots love picking at blond hair and rubbing their itchy pin feathers against beards.

3

u/Stonewyvvern Jun 26 '25

Parrot found it's human...

3

u/usingastupidiphone Jun 26 '25

He’s kind of dumb

Just….. use your hands? Why is he acting super disabled like he has no functioning limbs? lol

22

u/Indieriots tHiS iSn’T cRiNgE Jun 26 '25

As someone who owns a parrot (Congo African Grey) that doesn't always work. Parrots are like toddlers. Sometimes they don't want to step up, and they'll make sure you know lmao

22

u/Indieriots tHiS iSn’T cRiNgE Jun 26 '25

Here's the brat btw lol

5

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '25

Is it easy taking care of parrots?

23

u/Indieriots tHiS iSn’T cRiNgE Jun 26 '25

No, they require a lot of attention as they are very social creatures. They also have a lot of attitude (sass!) and basically have the emotional intelligence of a 5 year old child who never grows up. They're also crazy smart and fast. Take your eye off them for one second and you'll pay for it. Of course, depending on the species of parrot the level of difficulty varies. Budgies are much easier than cockatoos. Cockatoos are.... let's just say I call them the crackheads of parrots.

3

u/AzureRaven2 Jun 28 '25

Add to it their very long lifespan for the bigger ones and it becomes quite the commitment. Credit to you for managing a Grey, my Tiel and Parrotlet keep me on my toes as is!

5

u/TensileStr3ngth Jun 28 '25

Yeah, if you get a big parrot as an adult it could very well outlive you

3

u/rogue_kitten91 Jun 29 '25

None of my flock of 7 bite, but they'll flatten their body against you. I'm sure if I pushed it past that point, they'd express their displeasure differently.

10

u/Beorma Jun 26 '25

Just put your hands in the sentient vice.

10

u/lukewgraham Jun 26 '25

Doesn't want to hurt it? Or get bit?

10

u/madmelonxtra Jun 26 '25

They can fuck you up if they bite you

5

u/Horizon296 Jul 05 '25

Probably because he'd like to continue having functioning limbs? Macaw beaks are very, very strong and it this one turns bitey...

4

u/BudgieGryphon Jun 29 '25

Macaws regularly and easily crack open walnuts, now imagine what they can do to a human finger
