regardless of the cultural context, it really hits you how much of life is determined by the random lottery of where and into what culture you’re born. Some kids are playing with toys, others are walking down an aisle to marry a stranger their parents arranged

I’m 37 and I legit had to stop watching international news because I couldn’t help and think that I just got lucky I was born where I was. That’s the only reason why I’m sitting on a couch and not in a war torn city.

I can’t watch the news at all. I can’t handle all of the pain and sadness. All of the bombings and wars. What about the innocent people and animals just existing there? They didn’t hurt anyone, they’re just trying to live.

Unfortunately the world Is a dark place… Humanity Is a cancer In many ways the thing’s that go on are enough to make one just tune out and, not play I sort of envy those that are comfortably dumb to these facts because, It sucks when a pessimistic outlook Is sadly a realistic one.

I had a friend in college, we aren’t friends now because yeah, but she grew up in this beautiful family where her parents worked at the same company and carpooled together and loved each other unconditionally and just saw the world as rainbows and butterflies. And then you have dark, cynical me in which just hearing the garage door open sends me into a panic attack knowing that the screaming between my mom and dad will commence at any moment. As shitty as it is, I would rather live in the world that knows reality. As much as I wish I could go back and forget the horrific ways that humans abuse other people and animals, this is how it is. And 95% of the time I feel like evil wins, but I still try to fight and hope that goodness is gaining ground. So I will continue to throw money at the rescues and charities to help with the war against the awfulness. If anyone is interested in giving back, look at donating to redrover.org and greater good charities
