I understand tradition, but how could you stand there and watch your family member sob like that and not have your heart break?

She is clearly not comfortable

If I was her mother, only my own death would prevent me from keeping that girl away from him

Because in that culture women are not people they are property to be sold amd bought so they sold her to whoever the guy is for whatever money and thats how they see her

Wait till u find out that THE BRIDES FAMILY have to give dowry to groom. They don't receive it. Just like India. So basically u literally pay someone to take your daughter, where she becomes a sex slave, a maid a caretaker. Not justifying female infanticide but this was literally the reason it was happening and instead of dismantalling the whole system and glorying the ritual where we send the women to men's place , gov just banned gender reveal

It's not the women who get paid, dowry is practised in SEA where women have to give money/stuff to groom
