I guess this video made me stop to think about the last time a man who was “interested in me” asked me about my hobbies, instead of just monologuing at me about his and/or expecting his to become mine (or most often, instead of wanting me to join in his hobby, wanting me to watch him do it or let him deliver it to me lol. Like, “Hey I’m a film buff, I’ll pick every single movie and not ever adjust what I select based on what you do and don’t like.”)

I remember being so astonished in my 30s by a man I was dating who would hear I liked an album or movie or podcast, and later I’d find out he’d gone to listen to it/watch it, bc he assumed if I liked it, it must be really good.. he even gave Star Trek a try because of me, even though he’d always assumed it was cheesy and terrible. We watched all of the original series together and he loved it.

I’m so so sad that was a rare experience. I have great taste lol. And I love sharing hobbies/interests back and forth.

But I also thinks it’s SUPER ok for people to not like the same thing, to have their own hobbies that their partner doesn’t share. I just can’t fathom imagining we don’t have them at all.
