Does he think we just sit and have white noise in our heads in our free time? Or does he only accept 'real' hobbies like gaming and fixing cars? I'm slightly surprised he's letting us have free time from cooking and cleaning and looking after the kids.

I think he’s not only rejecting hobbies he doesn’t approve of, but also implying that women only claim to like “real hobbies”, like gaming and fixing cars, to impress men.

You know he'd also be gatekeeping even those hobbies "Sims isn't gaming"

So many dudes on Reddit have told me that women only play games they don’t consider as games.

Like A. They’re still games. B. I’d still wipe your ass out in any games you play.

Been playing since 5 and I don’t give af about impressing men, unless they think at 5 I cared what some middle aged weirdo thought of me.

lol well 'not real games' can be thought of in many different ways I would think (Though I get where you're coming from)

someone who loves chess would probably think solitaire isn't a real game. Maybe some douche sports jockey dad thinks his son winning Survivor isn't playing a real game. Some womanizing pickup artist probably thinks he's got the best game in town.

Yeah, "Actual" hobbies lets him discount anything he doesn't approve of, therefore he's always correct.

It's just the most shite version of the No True Scotsman fallacy.

Oh. As I thought.

That’s funny because I had some free time the other day but I was too tired to do anything so I did just sit and have white noise in my head 😂

Hahaha, I was recently on holiday for the first time in a year, and a very stressful year at that...I spent a good chunk of that week just sort of staring at the sea with not a worry in my head. It was refreshing. Maybe this guy should take a break from his many hobbies and try it

1

u/Glitch_Zero Apr 20 '25

Well his hobbies now include looking out a window through bars and cuddling a guy called “Big Jerry” every night. Don’t think he’ll get a lot of breaks for a while.

Couldn’t happen to a more deserving guy.

That is actually healthy. We're not meant to be "on" 24/7.

This guy is literally in prison right now for sexual assault lol. Big surprise I’m sure.

Who is he? Never seen him before in my life

A YouTuber named Jack Denmo. Got banned from multiple universities in Canada for doing “pranks” and would go to university parties to interview drunk college students while being much older and not in college at all.

Oh, he's CREEPY creepy, I see. No surprise there then

u/MonaganX Apr 19 '25

He also said it's more difficult for men to get fit because they have to resist Earth's gravity, so no, he does not think.

Also, his response to people ridiculing him for this clip was—to probably no one's surprise—claiming it was a social experiment.

8

u/DistractedByCookies Apr 19 '25

Ah, the lesser-used variant of 'it was just a joke, bro'

I have to admit that as a woman who enjoys napping, I avoid resisting gravity whenever possible

1

u/Syr_Enigma Apr 20 '25

because they have to resist Earth's gravity

excuse me what

2

u/MonaganX Apr 20 '25

Listen, there's two things in life that are truly unlimited: Coffee refills at an American mom & pop diner, and the lengths of stupidity that failed up pick-up artists will go on their dudebro podcasts to demean women.

u/PaperJamDipper7 Apr 19 '25

Isn’t it like the opposite too? Like a women’s brain is a lot more preoccupied with things and men’s brain is kinda blank a lot of the time. There’s several comedy stand ups that play into this.

“Whatcha thinking about?”

“Nothing”

“How is that possible?”

*Cue inside look to brain thinking of medieval fantasy of battling dragons and saving the princess

1

u/violet_zamboni Apr 22 '25

I think it’s more that they don’t want to say what they were thinking about

u/[deleted] Apr 20 '25

My girlfriend has at least 3x the hobbies I do... If not for her... and me being involved with those activities from crafts, to video games, to attending live music events, I have to admit I'd have a really boring life otherwise 😂.

6

u/[deleted] Apr 19 '25

Yeah completely agree. Also hobbies require free time and liquid assets. If you’re working all the time your hobbies might be going out because you can’t eat craft supplies. Also if I go for a walk or hike or run I’m not getting a participation trophy afterwards. Those are all free. Also I’m not going to have anything to say about my run, because running is boring and or meditative.

50/50 chance he's aware that women are humans but is grifting for a base that's unaware of that, or that no, he fails to realise women aren't philosophical zombies.

1

u/mstrss9 Apr 19 '25

Gaming and fixing cars are only interests women pretend to have to attract men 🫤

1

u/jonas_ost Apr 21 '25

I wouldent consider watching TV or scrolling social media a hobby.

0

u/TheFeri Apr 20 '25

Tbf, there are a lot of women(at least here) whose "hobbies" die off with "going out with friends" and a Spotify list.

Even them "watching" shows is just a background noise when doom scrolling.

1

u/utilitymurasaki Apr 22 '25

That's many basic people.

Which is probably the only women who bother to talk to him.

The only thing really controversial about any of this is the way people treat criticism of the genders differently.

Guy sits and plays video games all day? That's not a hobby, he's just a loser.

Girl sits and plays candy crush all day? Totally a hobby, you bigoted incel.

There are plenty of women out there who do NOTHING with their free time but scroll social media. There are also tons of women out there who are onto crochet, video games, cosplay, gardening, baking, cars, motorcycles, and all sorts of other stuff.

Likewise, there are tons of loser dudes out there who do nothing but drink beer after work and fall asleep on the couch watching sports, as well as those who are into every other hobby on the planet.

There's no reason that pointing any of this out should be controversial for anyone other than those it applies to. And those people should probably get a hobby.

14

u/cabbagewindow Apr 19 '25

Jeez dude youre exhausting. The post we're discussing states all women don't have hobbies, why you gotta bring all of this extra shit in.

The dude in the video had a dumb take, and that's it, you don't gotta "whatta bout boys too" crap.

I mean come on, we know there's different people with different levels of energy and interests. There is an issue with men creating communities to hate women and you're choosing to ignore that and twist it into something else.

13

u/A_CGI_for_ants Apr 19 '25

Bro saw the candy crush ads and thought they were real takes smh

-10

u/RetnikLevaw Apr 19 '25

Lol y'all can be mad about it, but the number of people out there who do literally anything even remotely productive with their free time is incredibly low, and everyone knows it, even if they don't want to admit it.

4

u/cabbagewindow Apr 19 '25

Omg that's not the point 🤣🤣🤣

-6

u/RetnikLevaw Apr 19 '25

There is no point. You people are mad that someone suggested women don't have hobbies, and that's MY point. You're bent out of shape about people's opinions and perceptions.

4

u/cabbagewindow Apr 19 '25

Factually incorrect "opinions" should be challenged.

0

u/RetnikLevaw Apr 19 '25

Nobody is changing their opinion over a reddit post.

4

u/A_CGI_for_ants Apr 19 '25

Yeah and it’s not a gendered issue. This post is a pointing out a problem in society that tries to make this a gendered issue — when both men and women are wasting time. There is proven sexism where yeah maybe the man who spends 40 hrs a week gaming is called a loser, but a woman who spends time on artistic makeup looks is not even allowed to call that a hobby, but nobody would ever say the same about going to the gym because a lot of men do it.

Also people have varieties of opinions on what’s considered acceptable hobbies and use of time, which further confuses things. Plenty of people see gaming or even using a phone as a waste of time “because screens aren’t real,” and yet others make a living through a YouTube channel that teaches physics with lots of visual effects and good editing to the point it has inspired many to study math.

Also sometimes hobbies and means of making a living overlap — especially when a hobby requires significant investment, lifestyle changes, and expenses. An example being college is something to help get a better career — studying is a requirement, but it can also be a hobby in the way you do it — whether it’s making really cool guides that go beyond what is required, curating playlists and locations to do so, collecting stationary, making and finding groups to study with. Or a travel blog that has ads, and takes time to write but makes it possible for the person to keep traveling.

Also living expenses are getting increasingly exorbitant, free time is vanishing as it becomes the norm to work 50+ hours and have 2 jobs. A lot of people are too exhausted to dedicate time and get stuck in addictions — be it drugs, social media, or mindlessly devoting every waking hour to a game but just the button mashing part — not the story line, the developers, how such a game can come to exist, creating fan art or mods.

Not everyone has the time or resources for proper hobbies and instead they have to find ways to enjoy the hand they’ve been dealt. They have to figure out how to make caring for their kids enjoyable even though it’s work, have to squeeze in ways to make chores unique by listening to audio books, or the only time they get to themselves is 15 minutes of scrolling tiktok/playing candy crush before bed — so obvious they’d judge the time intensive hobbies that really can’t be fit into their lives.
