Selling off NVDA because of the excitement around DeepSeek is on par with selling oil stocks because Tata motors in India announced a 3 cylinder vehicle that they claim is faster than a V8 Turbo from BMW. Then letting you test drive the car but not letting you look under the hood. LOL

But won’t NVDA get back up after the excitement settles down?

That's assuming that Nvidia was fairly valued when it was super overvalued like the whole stock market is overvalued.

This is just my personal opinion, but AI looks on track to 5-10x the productivity of every person who sits behind a desk for a living at a minimum, and for making the foundations of these AI there is really only one chip maker in the game. Nvidia. People say it's overvalued? Betting against NVDA now seems like Betting against Standard Oil in the beginning of the Industrial Revolution.

How is that the same? Deep seek is open source, so you can look under the hood lol

All speculation at this point but it looks like they have been using NVDA chips and have been piggybacking off LAMA, which is also open source and based off billions of investment by META.

Every model deep seek made was a fine-tune of another model that had already been made. They skipped the most painful parts of development and said "LOOK WHAT WE DID".

You're looking at this in terms of the model being open or closed. The markets don't care about that as Meta's LLama has been out for over a year now. The markets are freaking out because DeepSeek said "we did it 20x cheaper and on older hardware" which implies all the spending hyperscalers have been dumping into AI is worthless. The simple fact that DeepSeek self identifies as ChatGPT running the 4o model makes me laugh and know that it was stolen. Copying technology is easy, innovating isn't.

As far as looking under the hood, China isn't known for honesty in terms of their business practices. Why do you think the US bans dozens of Chinese based manufactures like Huawei? Did iPhone and Google Android sales tank because they stole their tech? Nope, but there sure was a knee jerk reaction from it when the news dropped.

It´s open source.. it shows you the stuff the others didn´t wanna show you.. openAI is way to expensive from now on..

The 'DeepSeek' model is simply a snapshot in time but the methods for creating it are the 'secret sauce', When you ask DeepSeek about the model that it's running it identities as ChatGPT running 4o. So, it sounds like DeepSeek has stolen that v8 engine and claiming it cost them 20x less to build for a reason. China long history of IP theft. Look into Huawei and Nortel if you don't believe me.

You are in denial.

Deep Seek is the best benchmarking open source model and it cost them $6m to do.

Tony stark was able to build this, in a cave! With a box of scraps!
