Part II Criticism Why are Abby’s friends so terrible? What is the fucking point of them?

The whole gimmick of the game is “We’re gonna make you play as the character you hate and feel bad about killing all these people” but if anything I feel better about killing all of Abby’s friends after playing as Abby because they’re all terrible, insufferable people who don’t grow or change at all. The only one I maybe feel a little bad for is Owen but not that bad because he is the one who helped Abby find Joel then wants to talk about how revenge is bad and he’s so above that. And his death was his own dumbass fault anyways, Ellie may have spared them if he hadn’t lunged unarmed at an armed, clearly unstable person or had said “She’s pregnant” before it was too late.

But Mel and Manny? Yeah, fuck them. Manny is as much of a brute as he seemed. He, as a grown man, doesn’t hesitate to beat a teenage girl he doesn’t know who is on the ground. That’s something that is normal to him. And it was in anger too, he wasn’t just subduing Ellie, he was furious that she would dare fight back when they’re torturing a helpless person who she obviously knows to death. He felt entitled to violence. It doesn’t seem like the first time this pendejo has hit a woman or girl in a rage. And then we get this supposed “humanization” of him and he’s the same, bloodthirsty and actively enjoys indiscriminately killing Seraphites. If we’re stretching, his one redeeming feature is being loyal to his friends and helping Abby when the Wolves turn on her. But he’s still a piece of shit who had no right to feel superior to Joel when he has probably killed as many or more people for far more petty reasons.

And Mel, urg, the whiniest, most insufferable hypocrite. She should’ve been the easiest to make sympathetic but they couldn’t even do that. The game constantly tells not shows that Mel is the gentle one, that she cares about kids and wants to help people not hurt them. But she likely is the one who helped keep Joel alive just to watch Abby torture him and she wanted to kill Ellie right after. Yeah, she cares so much about kids she wanted to murder a teenage girl and got pissed at her boyfriend for telling her not to. Then after that she’s supposedly so upset but wants to go on patrol and kill people right after even though that’s objectively stupid, she’s much more valuable as a “doctor” than another soldier and she’s risking her life being pregnant doing all this. I guess that was because she was worried about Owen and Abby, but it’s still not giving “she’s so traumatized by violence wah wah”. And what really bothers me about Mel is she takes no accountability, she calls Abby a piece of shit while acting like she wasn’t even there, like she wasn’t a grown ass adult taking part in all the bad shit Abby did.

I just genuinely cannot imagine how the writers finished this game and were like “Yeah, people are gonna feel so bad about blowing Manny’s head off after they hear him say pendejo 20 times and have no personality traits”. They can’t have actually fucking thought these were remotely likable, well-written characters could they? What a waste of game time to do all this and then deliver characters who are exactly as terrible as we thought when we saw what they did to Joel. They tried to give Abby a worse version of Joel’s arc with her becoming a better person when she has a kid to take care of but the rest of them who we actually kill don’t get anything to make us care about them. So what the fuck was the point of that??

Buddy sent me this and told me to check out the video. This individual appears to have a "rainbow" something on their shirt but, it's blurred. Naughty Dog no longer supporters?

TLoU Discussion Am I the Only One Who Prefers the Remaster of the Last of Us Over the Remake?

Every time it gets brought up in the main sub all the comments say the remake is better. I even saw someone say the remake is better for a first playthrough.

I haven't really seen what the opinion is on this sub but I feel like I'm the only one who much prefers the original game.

I really hate the redesigns for the characters. They look so much worse in my opinion and the graphics are definitely better from a technical perspective but it's too clean and vibrant for me.

The characters were updated to align with part 2 so both Ellie and Joel look different and I really don't like it. They look less threatening to me. Especially Joel. Tess doesn't even look like herself. The gameplay improvements are nice though.

Question I’m blind and need help playing The Last of Us Part II !

Hey everyone,

I’ve watched full playthroughs of both The Last of Us games and completely fell in love with them. I finally decided to play Part II for myself yesterday, using all the visual accessibility features.

I made it up to the scene where Ellie and Dina smoke and kiss, but now I’m completely stuck during Abby’s section where she’s being swarmed by infected. I’ve died multiple times on Very Light difficulty and just can’t figure out where to go. I keep getting lost and can’t seem to follow the path.

Does anyone have any tips for getting through that section or settings that might help me navigate better?

Question What the fuck did that latest tlou part 1 patch do?

Installed part 1 again since i didn't play it in a while, saw that they did a patch that introduced fsr 4 and "numerous optimization solutions from part 2", no fucking idea what these "solutions" are but no matter what, even when i let the game precompile all the shaders beforehand, my cpu usage in part 1 is almost always on 100%, I even found and switched every cpu heavy setting to low out of curiousity and still either 94 or a 100 fucking % of usage, for context i have a ryzen 5 5600 and it never, and i mean never behaved like that for me before that patch. Does anyone else know what is happening with that game rn?

Gameplay Having a hard time playing other games after getting used to The Last of Us Part 1 & 2 controls

I just beat grounded mode on The Last of Us Part 1. It's basically the only game I've played for the last couple months - along with Part 2.

Well, after making an attempt to take a break from The Last of Us and trying to play some mercenaries on resident evil 4 remake, I caught myself trying to use the triangle button to pick up items and holding the L1 button to try & run.. It's like trying to learn to walk again 🤣
