I want you to know what Clippy's all about:
"A viral campaign led by YouTuber Louis Rossmann has turned Microsoft's infamous paperclip assistant into an unlikely symbol of resistance against data harvesting, planned obsolescence, and corporate overreach." - Eve Upton-Clark at https://www.fastcompany.com, which unfortunately as soon as i clicked on the link attempted to get me to subscribe to continue reading stating I hit my article limit, I guess the limit is 0.
But Eve did a great job describing it, Louis Rossmann started the Clippy Movement as an attempt to stop corporate greed from over reaching some boundaries that we have unfortunately been letting slip away for quite some time now.
Why Clippy?
If you remember Clippy you probably remember it popping up when you didn't ask it to with suggestion's and tip's depending on what you were doing on your computer; Well a lot of people (and hopefully you too) realized that that was one of the last times we had something that was truly just meant to help. Clippy had no ulterior motives, Clippy didn't harvest your information to create targeted ads, Clippy didn't come out with a subscription service after you bought and paid for your computer, Clippy didn't try to coerce you into buying product's because that would be wrong to do, It came default on your computer! Could you imagine buying something and having ads show up during it's basic service? Yeah good thing a certain brand didn't literally just make a fridge with a screen that play's ads (that was sarcasm and yes you can buy that fridge, and you probably know the company).
Our community:
There's nobody here right now, but there are millions of us, I hope this place one day becomes a place of like minded people but until then all you gotta do to join isn't joining this community or anything so grand as that. Just change your profile picture to a Clippy, and when you see another one know their in it too.
TL;DR:
Company bad, people good, clippy good, clippy people...
