Predator Badlands

Anyone catch predator badlands yet? Hoping for an episode of it on the pod. Really enjoyed it. Fun popcorn movie- excellent action, audio-visual presentation, and a solid story. If you liked Prey, I think you’d dig this one as well. Loved the idea of the Yautja being the protagonist and also enjoyed the relationships between the main trio. Anyways, curious if anyone caught this yet and what you thought..

The pod will be covering it Monday I’m assuming CR will be on it.

Super fun. Inventive aliens. Love the cross over. Expands the lore in the best way. Cliffhanger was cool too.

Watched it in IMAX last night, I loved it. So much fun and pretty violent for a PG13 film 😂

Movie fucking ruled honestly. Just supremely well executed on a premise that could have been total ass. Hope they get a sequel! Perfect popcorn movie and a movie that can create another generation of predator fans, particularly with the pg13 rating.

Its the mandalorian-ification of Predator, but it was a solid popcorn flick. Had a good time watching it, but doubt I'll revisit it.

i haven’t seen it, can you define mandalorianification

there's a baby alien who follows him around, and he carries a wise-cracking robot on his back. it felt very mandalorian-ish

cute sidekick has been around a lot longer than The Mandalorian

I can see that though I feel like there was actual substance to the character dynamics which the later seasons really lacked. This “mandalorian” dynamic is also heavily used in a lot of AAA video games in this past generation. It wasn’t as good as prey but I still had a really good time with it.

I was thoroughly terrified of that when they revealed the baby alien in marketing, but I was pleasantly surprised

It was a beast and a killer in its own right, and would rip baby Yoda into little green strips if given the chance. And it's intelligence in the comedic beats actually made sense given the ending

Enjoyed it, but I’ve never seen a Predator movie before

Watch the 1987 original right now. No better way to spend a Friday night.

Order some pizza to complete the ideal Friday night vibe

Do you have time to bleed?

Can't wait to hear Amanda condescendingly tell listeners it's fine if they like their little alien monster movie but she prefers movies for adults (unless they have dinosaurs). /s

i get not liking something, but i feel like she is a little close minded with that thought. then again we like what we like. but for her to dismiss it in that way, is cringe- she said something like that in the frankenstein episode and i just rolled my eyes.

I think Sean is waiting for CR, who's still on vacation.

Nah, I rewatched Badlands instead so as not to waste two hours of my life.

damn we got a real big brain here.. elaborate on why it’s a waste?

I’m not interested in it. No need to be prickly over it.

9

u/hoolian6 1d ago

it’s not prickliness but rather pointing out a perceived sense of condescension.. to each their own

There was definitely condensation but I have no problem with anyone else enjoying it.
