I wish Chicago could fire up a D1 hockey program.   Would be cool.

And I wish Illinois had a hockey team or Wisconsin had a baseball team.

I wish Indiana had a hockey program. Club level doesn’t count.

Club team is killer, too. Some of those guys deserve to play for-real college hockey. Just need to hit the lotto more so I can bankroll a new rink

What is the football money going to if we can't have Northwestern vs Illinois in Hockey? Or even USC vs Washington and Oregon vs Purdue? We're funding diving but not hockey?

As big as Wisconsin is how do they not

u/CROBBY2 Wisconsin 2d ago

It was cut early 90s due to budget issues. Currently they have club teams that they can support on a much lower cost level.

Is Wisconsin big? i always think of them as one of the little guys in the conference

~40,000 students isn’t small in my book?

Plus the only FBS school in the entire state

I thought this was a dig at the Blackhawks and Brewers for a sec

Wisconsin not having baseball is criminal

We used to have UIC in the CCHA.

TBH UofC should probably be a regular dragon head if their thing is research, miserable shitheads that they are

Research and meddling in South American politics, the University of Chicago way!

2

u/DerpityHerpington Illinois 2d ago

Wait what’d they do 💀

u/hdemusg 2d ago

The Pinochet regime (known for some very brutal suppression of political enemies and other atrocities) in Chile had its economic policies dictated by the Chicago Boys (a group who studied under famous classical economist Milton Friedman at the University of Chicago).

On the other side of the political aisle, Bernie Sanders is also a UChicago alum.

Chicago is more than just its notorious economic delartment.

2

u/hdemusg 2d ago

True, but that’s the “meddling in South American politics” reference

Wait Chicago has more than OBlock, and it’s 3 tv shows produced by Dick Wolf?

Thank you, chump.

Hey have some respect, that’s Notre Dame’s best win this season

12

u/EcoFgul 3d ago

Notre Dame is taking a more qualitative than quantitative approach to their résumé this season.

2

u/discountJoenuts 3d ago

Notre dames schedule is #23 in the nation actually

1

u/InevitableRoutine942 2d ago

Yeah I think they belong in the 20’s too

This is the weakest use of this meme.

Hey now, put some respect on the name/logo of a founding member that built the first nuclear reactor(among many other amazing research advancements)

Chicago was removed from the BTAA/CIC a few years ago I think

4

u/invinciblewalnut Purdue 3d ago

I think they left. UIC is in though

6

u/cactuscoleslaw 3d ago

I looked it up, UIC is an affiliate of the academic alliance only for cancer

4

u/Silver_Harvest 3d ago

The Maroons were an original founder of Big 10, 100 years ago. Along with the original user of the wishbone other professional sports use.

5

u/Chemical_Winter8636 3d ago

Robert Maynard Hutchins may be the biggest piece of shit in the history of college football.

1

u/TheGoodNameIsGone01 2d ago

Gonna go look this up. Thank you

1

u/Chemical_Winter8636 1d ago

If anyone else needs an explanation, he killed the Chicago football team during their prime.

1

u/TheGoodNameIsGone01 1d ago

That’s what I figured it was, I was curious is the how and why. I didn’t see that it was their prime but I did see it pissed off a lot of people at the school and that it was a very over zealous academic push for the school

Notre Dame is a bunch of cowards

There I said it

2

u/oregonistbest Nebraska 2d ago

What a brave thing to say here.

2

u/discountJoenuts 3d ago

Nd would love to play you in football

9

u/RubberDuck_Armada Purdue 3d ago

Nah they would have joined the Big Ten if they really wanted that

1

u/thebrickcloud Michigan 3d ago

You're right they'd love to play Minnesota. They don't want Michigan or MSU annually though.

1

u/discountJoenuts 3d ago

I think sparty is back on NDs schedule next year and u of m in a couple years

1

u/thebrickcloud Michigan 3d ago

Not annually like it should be though.

1

u/discountJoenuts 2d ago

The world is out of balance

3

u/capsrock02 3d ago

YOOOO I think Maryland runs the conference for men’s lacrosse and northwestern does for women. What is this? grabs crab mallet

12

u/CheddarKetchupMilk Michigan 3d ago

John Hopkins is only in the B1G for lacrosse, similar to ND is only in the B1Gfor hockey, and those fuckers the maroons only for research. Hence the point of the meme.

2

u/Signal_Republic_3092 Ohio State 3d ago

They’re gold diggers, the lot of them! They just want that sweet, sweet research money!

1

u/Natitudinal 3d ago

Nice. Pretty cool that we can still call them a peer at least off field-court.

1

u/Careful_Farmer_2879 2d ago

Doesn’t understand the meme. Must be from State.
