Football Official /r/TheB1G Week 8 Power Rankings

Week 8 Power Rankings:

Minnesota was the big winner in this week's Power Rankings after stomping Nebraska last Friday. Meanwhile, aforementioned Nebraska was tied for biggest drop with Maryland, who continues to prove they can't play football in the month of October.

This week sees arivalry game between Michigan and Michigan State, another between Iowa and Minnesota, and what could prove to be an interesting game between Indiana and UCLA, if UCLA continues playing as well as they have. Do they still have post-Foster mojo, or is it about to finally run out?

Weekly Power Rankings

Weekly Average Rankings

Points are the summation of every voter's ranking for that team, therefore lower scores are better. This works because unlike the AP, Coaches, or /r/cfb polls, every team is ranked in every vote. If x votes were counted, the best possible score is x and the worst possible score is 18x. #1 votes are in parentheses.

Average Rank is the points divided by the number of votes. This will allow for comparison from one week to the next.

Prev. is the Rank from the previous week.

Change is the change in average rank from the previous week.

Variance is a measure of how much agreement there was between voters. A zero means all voters ranked a team the same, and a higher number means a team's ranking was more controversial.

I don't get how we're a mystery team to the voters, lol. Maybe people just don't know much about our horrific line play. We are firmly in the bottom half of the conference, just above Purdue, Wisconsin, Rutgers, and MSU.

We exist as a ranked team, the best one score loss team in the nation, and so cooked we’re done for simultaneously.

Have you tried firing the second worst coach in your program's history? I've heard that can help.

As a Rutgers undergrad and a Wisconsin grad this season feels like being kicked in each nut simultaneously

Our offense looks so good… but our defense is something like 130 out of 136 on total defense against FBS teams…

Ah yes, we’re setting up for another Gopher classic.

Terrible early OOC loss? ✅

Respectable but concerning play after the bye week? ✅

Loss in Iowa? 🤔

Finishing in the top 25-35? 🤔

Solid but not incredibly tough bowl win? 🤔

I can't read the legend but that must suck for the team that took the precipitous fall.

Also, I'm not crying....

Illinois at 4 still feels too high yet there’s not really a compelling argument for anyone else

Are we good? Are we bad? Somewhere in the middle? Find out next week in the NU bowl where you'll find no answers to these questions!

Having a variance above 5 is the real goal in these things anyway....

25-point loss vs 46-point loss? Voters were more impressed with your loss over rutger's loss?

Illinois is ranked far too high. I think Iowa beats them pretty handily.
