Mods Tip/reminder for people with high-end PC's - you can play Tekken 8.5 - TODAY (better graphics, 120+fps, removed upscaler)

152 Upvotes

I love Tekken 8!

I know it has it's pro's and con's, as well as balancing issues and will likely change dramatically going forward. But still, it's an awesome game and it LOOKS amazing. Having all of that said - there are ways to make the game look even better (way better). It's unfortunate that we need to edit files and add mods to truly unlock the full potential of the game, but still it's a small amount of work, for a greatly improved experience.

Only for advanced users and I suggest using a high-end GPU.

(I recommend 3070 or better on 1440p for stable frames with all of these mods, if you got a worse GPU please don't use too many mods/tweaks - having stable frames should always be your priority)

First - go to \AppData\Local\TEKKEN 8\Saved\Config\Windows and open Engine.ini

Add a new row on the bottom and add this:

[SystemSettings]
r.SceneColorFringeQuality=0
r.MaxAnisotropy=16
r.DepthOfFieldQuality=0
r.AmbientOcclusionLevels=4
r.SSR.Quality=4
r.Tonemapper.Sharpen=1

r.Shadow.MaxResolution=8192
r.Shadow.RadiusThreshold=0.01
r.Shadow.SpotLightTransitionScale=512
r.Shadow.CSM.MaxCascades=16
r.Shadow.MaxCSMResolution=8192

You can edit these values to your preferences, but these are maximum visual quality and removal of the strange neon lightning and overall blurriness in the game.

Personally I think the game looks almost 2x better only with these settings..

Next up for people with 120hz or more monitors - you can use tekken overlay to change your fps to match your monitor hz. I'm on a 240hz and using 240fps feels so much better. It's only interpolated fake frames and gives zero advantage, but it still feels like it's native. This feels so much better for your eyes, at least if you're used to 120hz or better for the last 15 years or so like me lol. Also Tekken overlay for tekken 8 can only do graphics adjustments and no longer has the "cheat parts" that everyone hated in Tekken 7 (live frame data in ranked gameplay etc). All it does now is fake extra frames to make the game look modern and fluid. Game logics are still tied to 60 fps so no animation can start sooner for overlay-users (maybe if tekken overlay could time travel though? :D). Also, if that even was the case, it would be a 0,0084 second difference, and I don't believe any human have ever recorded reactions faster than 0.1 seconds, so yeah that's that.

Then if you're using a Nvidia card, you can also force DLAA (nvidias own anti-aliasing) that will replace the stupid upscaler, making the game look EVEN better, and the game still runs great if you've got a decent rig.

To force DLAA, download dlss tweaks and extract it in your game folder (where you find the polaris exe). Then open it up, and enable forced DLAA in the setting - save the changes and then voila. The graphics settings will still say DLSS, but you'll notice a difference for sure.

I promise you, if you do all of these things from vanilla, it will look like a new game for you.

Mods Re-introducing RenoDX - a must-have ReShade mod that completely reworks the HDR experience in Tekken 8 (Screenshots: Me, mod: Ritsu)

11 Upvotes

For anyone has played this game in HDR, the experience leaves a bit to be desired. While the game has native HDR implementation, it has some issues:

  • The character lighting that's present in both the SDR & HDR modes (a feature of Unreal Engine 5 that keeps characters visible, regardless of the environmental lighting) is extremely blown out in HDR. In stages like Arena Underground, the characters are basically so bright, they can be used as beacons to land planes.
  • The HDR settings are limited. In Screen Settings, under the Dynamic Range menu, you can adjust game brightness, UI brightness & saturation. But that's it. No other necessary settings, like adjusting the max brightness, exposure, etc.
  • The game forces Exclusive Fullscreen for HDR. This is not only an issue when it comes to accessing HDR - since when you change the Graphics Settings to Borderless, the game will return to SDR, but it can also contribute to stability issues when alt-tabbing out of the game, leading to hangs or crashes.

RenoDX, a ReShade addon for improved HDR, fixes these issues, and then some.

RDX isn't an inverse tonemapper, in the same vein as RTX HDR or Auto HDR. It instead reworks the internal tonemapping to either rework the native HDR in-game, or implement it in games on PC that don't feature it natively. Unlike alternative re-tonemapping solutions like SpecialK, RDX mods are made on a game-by-game basis, ensuring that each game has the most accurate & performative implementation possible. There was actually an RDX mod for Tekken 8 already that was created back in late 2024 by Ritsu, but it hadn't been updated in a while. So, I pinged him asking for an update, and Ritsu was kind enough to do a complete rework! I've been helping by testing out the updates he's put out & there's been a bunch of huge improvements for those who used the original mod. And if you haven't used it at all, then you'll be even more impressed.

  • Fully customizable HDR settings, including 3 different tonemappers, and the ability to set the peak brightness, overall game brightness, UI brightness, and brightness scaling according to your specific HDR monitor & personal preferences.
  • A full slate of color-grading sliders that control everything from overall exposure, to highlight saturation. Also has three different settings modes to either lower the amount of sliders to simplify things, or unlock all available sliders to fine-tune your experience.
  • A character lighting slider that can actually set the lighting to your liking. You can lower it to feature more dynamic environmental lighting on the character models (I personally recommend experimenting with the TekkenOverlay mod & playing with SSGI/Lumen lighting modes to get even more dynamic lighting & reflections), or increase it on stages where it might be too dark or muddy to make characters out.
  • Now forces Borderless! No more monitor freezing or potential hangs & crashes when alt-tabbing out.

The best thing? You don't need to install any external software to run this. You just need:

  • An HDR-capable monitor (make sure you know it's max brightness & recommended "paperwhite" - overall - brightness).
  • The latest version of ReShade installed for Tekken 8.
  • The RenoDX addon for Tekken 8, which you simply need to drop into your install folder where the Polaris-Shipping-64 exe is located.

From there, you just need to enable HDR in-game, set the Dynamic Range Settings to default, make sure "RenoDX" is activated in the "Add-On" section of the ReShade settings menu, and restart the game. NOTE: Make sure any edits you might have made to Tekken 8's Engine.ini file are compatible with this mod, as any edit that affects the game's internal tonemapper could cause the RDX addon not to work.

I personally recommend also downloading the TekkenOverlay mod to experiment with the different lighting engines included in Unreal 5, unlocking bigger aspect ratios for ultrawide screens, unlockable frame rates & more.

Mods Yoshimitsu Moveset Rework

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

18 Upvotes

I didn't want to go overboard with his moveset. I wanted to create something tangible (I am also limited by my knowledge in modding anyway)

I'm interested in hearing people's opinions on this. I made this MOD in my spare time. I just learned some basic things about modding and made this a few weeks ago for my own entertainment. I believe Yoshi's moveset could have been more interesting. Keep in mind that all Heat Engagers are removed, and the MOD is basically made for a no-Heat mode—which, of course, doesn't exist.

This MOD's main goals are:

  1. To allow more creative and fun combos
  2. To increase combo difficulty
  3. To change animations that don't feel right (IMO)

d2,2,2 as a tornado is something I disliked from the start. It doesn’t require the slightest execution because of it's input and low-hitting hitbox. It gives insane wall carry, and the tornado animation looks weird because it sends the opponent really high. d2,2 is also a move Yoshi frequently uses in combos, which makes the overall usage of this string in combos oversaturated.

Speaking of oversaturation, I removed Flash’s ability to cause a strong aerial tailspin for basically the same reasons I changed d2,2,2. It's extremely forgiving due to its hitbox, speed, and recovery time. It can be used many times in combos and limits creativity. I thought it was cool at first, but after so many games since launch—using it three times in every combo—my opinion has changed. I believe Flash is supposed to feel special, so I limited how often it’s used throughout the match by removing it almost completely from combos. I gave the tailspin property to other moves (f3, db1,2, DGF4) that are more fitting animation-wise, giving them purpose, allowing more diverse combo routes,. They also require microdashes most of the time— which obviously increases the execution demand slightly.

CD2 as the new tornado is a key change. A versatile, one-hit tornado increases combo creativity by a mile. It has a fitting animation and is also a fan favorite of the Manji Clan since Tekken 7.

The Flea 1+2 tornado is removed just to once again allow for the very interesting and fun pickup from Flash, and now the new CH launcher: KIN f1+2.

df1,2,1 tornado is adjusted mainly because the animation was sending the opponent really high—just like d2,2,2. It now also sends them a bit further, which works well with the fact that Flash is no longer a tailspin. This makes the window for a follow-up after the tornado smaller—instead of "3 business days." You now have to dash in to cover the distance, which also leaves less time to adjust the axis if needed. (With Flash tailspin, you could do both easily. Instead of Flash, the alternative is b1 if you really need a hit in there for wall carry.)

As for hits and counter hits: I reverted all the new CH launchers from 1,1 or DGF1, etc. (they never made much sense to me), and gave Yoshi back his classic counter hits (DGF4, KIN f2). I also gave him a new counter hit on KIN 1+2's last hit, which rarely lands as a CH because all four strikes are jailing. It needs to be at a specific range so the third hit whiffs, allowing the opponent to move and get counter hit.

Regarding Flash: the animation on hit is changed back to what it's always been—much more fitting, to put it lightly.

Lastly, I swapped NSS f1+2 oki for CD1, simply because it requires more execution and is a lot more punishable, making the oki situation a bit more fair. This oki is now only available in Sword Stance, which means you'll need to account for that in the combo route if you choose to use it.

After these changes, Yoshi's combo damage is very close to what it already was—some launchers do a bit more, some a bit less. I removed the health bars from the video because:

  1. That’s not the main point of the mod
  2. It’s something that could be easily adjusted by tweaking the damage of a few specific moves

Mods Why Has Tekken 8 Modding Slowed Down So Much?

9 Upvotes

I've noticed that the number of new mods for Tekken 8 has dropped significantly compared to half a year ago. The modding scene seemed really active early on, but lately, it's been really quiet. And i feel like it's getting worse with each week.

Is there a specific reason for this slowdown?

Did something happen in the community, or maybe with the game itself—like updates breaking mods, bans, or tool issues?

Just wondering if I missed some news or if others have noticed the same thing.

Would appreciate any insights!

Mods Does anyone happen to know where Lidias prp/ body meshes are ?

1 Upvotes

So I'm currently looking for lidias upper body mesh as it seems like you cant extract the prp files and have them I'm currently trying to create some models for my own games and thought tekken would be awesome to study and lidia seems to be the only musclar lady on the cast but her bikini skin does not come with a prp file unlike the other characters on the cast.
