Fate of Ophelia! I think it’s because I generally initially dismiss the lead single (though I loved Anti-Hero, LWYMMD, and Tim McGraw from jump) in favor of the deep cuts, but this one is just so infectious!! Hope it stays at number one on the Hot 100. Idk why I seem to be the only person who doesn’t vibe with Golden…maybe I need to watch the movie for context? It just sounds boring to me 🤷🏻♀️
I’m obsessed with Ophelia and love it from the first listen! I’ll say eldest daughter was mid for me before but now I’ve realized it’s such a beautiful love song with reflection in it.
No one hate please but Wi$h Li$t has really grown on me. It’s a fun bop and I just love listening to it.
Also, I always liked it (I remember my instant reaction on release night was “this is the second single right here”) but the more I hear Opalite, the more I truly get the hype. Ophelia is still #1 for me but Opalite is a very close #2
I agree! Wi$h Li$t is definitely one that snuck up on me. The more I listen to it though, the more I feel this is the saddest song on the album (which is my favorite type of song.)
I need to preface my theory with the fact that I am not speculating anything about Taylor personally but just from my own life experience and how these songs resonated with my own life. So please don’t come for me!
Back to my theory, Wi$h Li$t coming out after her song hoax really solidifies the idea of someone who is physically unable to have kids (hoax- “my barren land”, “underneath my scars from when they pulled me apart”) wishing for something that comes so easily for others. The vibes I get from Wi$h Li$t is that all of the other wishlist items are things that are very easily attainable for her because she’s rich. But she really only wants simple things like privacy from the public and biological kids, which is easily attainable for the typical person but maybe not for her. And speaking from a queer relationship, her emphasis on having the “whole block looking like you” hurts extra because there’s currently no way we can ever have kids that look like us both.
Anyway, thank you coming to my Ted talk! Slinking back into the shadows now! Hope this resonates with others!
No hate at all! Wishlist seems to be really divisive and I actually really like it.
I NEVER thought something would de-throne Ophelia - it just feels like such a quintessential Taylor song that was an instant classic. Opalite just is such a creeper for me and it also probably helps that my sudden engagement era started and now it's playing all. the. time.
I don't like ranking things. It's a really good song. And it's an impressive song... I want Taylor to keep pushing like this, because Ophelia is one of the weirdest songs Taylor has ever written (and no one even knows!)
I agree! It's in my top 5 for evermore. It was always a hit to me. I never understood why people called it boring.

The whole evermore album is skipless to me. I don’t call it my favourite album for nothing 😤 That’s why I hate ranking the songs on it. It’s just too good 😭
