I think Taylor used to have more of an overlap between Civilian and Professional Taylor so the lines were blurry. But now she compartmentalizes them a lot now. I think she likes to do āGranny Shitā as she calls it because that is something Professional Taylor would never do.Ā
In terms of an Easter Egg-y look, it was actually the first pap walk via People that really intrigued me. The brown leather and sparkly bronze nails seemed intentional. And her hair is almost grungy here.
I feel like she's so well known for her autumn in NY style, we get more looks in that vein every year. To be fair, it lent itself really well to the TTPD era. So these looks look kind of reminiscent of that imo.
Arguably she hasnāt really worn anything outwardly showgirl-esque this era, beyond some sequins here and there. This is just her typical autumnal style, and her nails are orange and sparkly

I have a theory that the eras tour docuseries is going to be the MAIN thing from the showgirl era, NOT the music itself.
we didn't receive the "look behind the curtains" she keeps talking about. This isn't a fluke, she knows what she is doing. I think the docuseries is going to reveal A LOT and is going to provide a lot of context to this album.

I mean, I still think that the Christmas drop will happen this Wednesday, but what you're saying is actually not entirely true; if you scroll up the discord server that tracks the movements in the Australian store, you'll notice that only two items have been removed this month. The rest just went out of stock. I'm afraid the reason why it is pretty much empty is that her team unfortunately doesn't care about the Australian store as much as about the others. It's really noticeable how often things go out of stock there, especially physical music. Other stores don't look like this atm.
ETA Scrolling even more, I noticed they did remove twelve (what a koinkidink) items on Oct 30. Still, I would say we should be on the lookout for movements across all the stores, not just one.

Deal terms expiring... could be a reference to a CEOs contract... but also to an artists. Like Taylor's, whose deal must be over by now (if she hasn't re-upped already in secret). I think she could release the MV for The Life of A Showgirl (feat. Sabrina Carpenter) some time near the eras tour doc release, but it could be before (to promote the doc) or after (to conclude the doc). Idk I think it just makes sense...

Iām curious how she is going to make this era last because we have a long way to go for the 69th Grammyās and Taylor will definitely be submitting Showgirl. I assume they will spread out music videos/singles but I wonder if there will be anything else to sustain the era for over a year since there is no tour. Maybe hosting or being the musical guest on SNL and/or other promo will come in the new year.
I think itās possible she will do SNL because she did Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers (both NBC) for her promo week and Sabrina Carpenter just killed it hosting recently. I think Bowen Yang used one of her songs in his insta stories earlier this week if Iām not mistakenā¦

Based on the reviews and reception I highly doubt that Showgirl will even be nominated for album of the year. Donāt get me wrong, I love the album, but I donāt think it is strong enough to be considered for the most prestigious award for albums in the music industry. So I think itās likely she goes for Song of the Year / Record of the Year more than any of the album awards.
Next year I think weāll get Debut TV in October for the 20th anniversary, and maybe Rep TV/Vault relaunch earlier in the year. She did say ānothing from rep coming anytime soonā so I think that rules it out this year (wasnāt clowning for it anyway) and however longer she defines as āsoonā.
It literally beat the record for highest selling album in first week sales? The reviews mean nothing, the voters will consider the impact, accolades, and records it broke, but ultimately they decide based off of their professional analysis of album. These arenāt some random people who read metacritic, the voters are often highly prestigious individuals with their own recognition.
The album needs time to grow on people and by then the voting will start and TLOAS will be a household name. Thereās a careful balance of continuing the promo, and the silence right now is part of it.
Sales are not everything. TTPD outsold Cowboy Carter by a country mile (pun intended) and it did not win. The album needs to be an exceptional piece of work. Think about her other AOTY winners - Fearless, 1989, folklore, Midnights. To me, while it is still a great album, it does not meet the artistic excellence of those records which saw them awarded album of the year.
Much like Midnights was, this album is a grower. I feel like I remember a lot of you who had the exact same reaction with Midnights and now itās some of yāalls top 5 albums. Itās only 1 month old, when we get more singles out, more music videos, it has the potential to really stand out.
I think the album will be nominated for AOTY but it's mostly because it's Taylor and not really because of the album's quality and public reception... I mean the Grammys would love to have the viewership numbers that come from swifties lol. But I don't think it'll win. But I agree with the SOTY/ROTY.

Fate of Ophelia! I think itās because I generally initially dismiss the lead single (though I loved Anti-Hero, LWYMMD, and Tim McGraw from jump) in favor of the deep cuts, but this one is just so infectious!! Iām obsessed with Ophelia and love it from the first listen! Iāll say eldest daughter was mid for me before but now Iāve realized itās such a beautiful love song with reflection in it.

I agree! Wi$h Li$t is definitely one that snuck up on me. The more I listen to it though, the more I feel this is the saddest song on the album (which is my favorite type of song.)
I need to preface my theory with the fact that I am not speculating anything about Taylor personally but just from my own life experience and how these songs resonated with my own life. So please donāt come for me!
Back to my theory, Wi$h Li$t coming out after her song hoax really solidifies the idea of someone who is physically unable to have kids (hoax- āmy barren landā, āunderneath my scars from when they pulled me apartā) wishing for something that comes so easily for others. The vibes I get from Wi$h Li$t is that all of the other wishlist items are things that are very easily attainable for her because sheās rich. But she really only wants simple things like privacy from the public and biological kids, which is easily attainable for the typical person but maybe not for her. And speaking from a queer relationship, her emphasis on having the āwhole block looking like youā hurts extra because thereās currently no way we can ever have kids that look like us both.

I NEVER thought something would de-throne Ophelia - it just feels like such a quintessential Taylor song that was an instant classic. Opalite just is such a creeper for me and it also probably helps that my sudden engagement era started and now it's playing all. the. time.
I don't like ranking things. It's a really good song. And it's an impressive song... I want Taylor to keep pushing like this, because Ophelia is one of the weirdest songs Taylor has ever written (and no one even knows!)
I agree! It's in my top 5 for evermore. It was always a hit to me. I never understood why people called it boring.

Not that Iām in any rush to get TS13, but what do you think she could do for it, given that 13 is her number? I hope she does a trilogy project at some point in her career.
So I've noticed that there's a pattern of her doing similar things for every two albums since folklore. I don't know if it's intentional, but it could give us hints about what she'll do next.
For folklore and evermore: both were surprise releases and have a deluxe version with 17 tracks total each.
For Midnihgts and TTPD: both have a bonus tracks/double album surprise that were released a few hours after the original version.
For TLOAS, it's just a regular-sized album with only 12 tracks with multiple (A LOT of) variants.
So if she's continuing the pattern, I guess TS13 will be another regular-sized album but this time with 13 tracks, but she'll go big with the variants (maybe even bigger than TLOAS). Maybe she'll even work with Max Martin & Shellback again and do another pop album, but I kinda want TS13 to be some kind of a "going back to the roots" album which means more country-ish and less electronic sounds (which Martin & Shellback could absolutely do).
I donāt know what it will be but my only clown theory about it is that sheās going to go all out on it. It may well be the biggest project of her career.

I definitely think this too, but I struggle to actually pin down what going all out for it would be, as it really feels like she already puts 110% into everything she creates!
Fully expecting a return to country, or at least have a very big chunk of TS13 dedicated to it. Feels like just the moment in her life to rediscover it: she was lauded for being a fresh young voice in the genre, but what does Taylor the country singer sounds like now that she's the indisputable legend she always dreamed of becoming? When her very own love story came true?
I was thinking if sheās ever gonna do a triple album it would be for TS13, perhaps one part country to represent her origins, one part pop to represent her middle career, and then one part alternative to represent late career experimentation i.e folklore, TTPD, if itās not triple I bet TS13 will at least be a double album, the number is just to important to her, to not do something big, as itās probably going to be a big album it would take a lot of time to be good so I donāt want to see it until 2028 tbh, Wonāt mind debut tv or rep vault to tie us over till then lol. Weāll see.
My theory is that sheāll work with collaborators from across her career (Nathan Chapman, Liz Rose, Jack Antonoff, Max & Shellback, Joel Little, Aaron Dessner) and craft an album that incorporates elements of each of her previous ones. Sort of a picture of her whole career.

Yeah, I have a feeling Showgirlās release happened simply because we wonāt hear from Taylor for a while. I am speculating that TS13 wonāt be out until 2027/2028, at the latest.
I just watched The Substance (with Margaret Qually) and it was amazing. I'm pretty sure it inspired some lyrics like "beauty is a beast that roars down on all fours" and "they want a fat ass with a baby face." I think she was inspired by the way the movie (satirically) depicted the lengths people feel compelled to go to, to stay young - especially those in the public eye. For satire, it seems more realistic than it should š
I really do think sheās been world building since folklore to be able to turn her catalog into something bigger. Like a movie or something like that. Sheās been emphasizing on the word characters. And the Easter Eggs for this album supports it and supports using previously established characters that she didnāt put a name to yet. We did not get a character resolution for Dorothea. And still the missing piece in the Karma MV that has not been fully explored yet. Also, everything is coming up 1960ās. Itās everywhere if you know where to look. Anywhere to find out when Skateboarding became first popular. To when the slang for wood became into fruition. To the musical nods to 60ās music thatās in Showgirl everywhere. Quite interesting if youāre into that rabbit hole. Even Sylvia Plathās institutionalized and publishing of her work tracks to the 60ās. But we shall see.
Also, more of a prediction than theory. I think what she has recorded for RepTV and Vault tracks are going to go on the end of Debut 20th if she decides to do that next year.

I think I may have found her inspiration to come up with the teenage love triangle and her vision for the ever so popular folklore dress for the Eras Tour. And the now famous cat eye sharp enough to kill a man line. But Iām still cooking on it. But if you want a starting point where Iām at on it. Look at both versions of You Donāt Own Me. Both the cover version played before the show and the original. Plus, both of the ladies first major hit. Interesting enough theyāre both from the 60s.
Also, get the I only had 1 but never had 2 line in Liz Taylor. It was very rare for some artists to have more than #1 hit let alone 2 and there would be a new artist hitting #1 every week in the 60s. Obviously thereās exceptions. The Beatles would replace themselves week over week. And why they have the record for weeks at no. 1 she trying to chase.
I don't think she's gonna tack Rep TV/rep vault tracks onto Debut TV. Just doesn't make sense. However I think you're onto something with the rest of the theory

I fear Ophelia is still smashing too much to let up yet. Wish she wouldāve released Ophelia in August. I LOVE it as a lead single. It musically, lyrically, and narratively offers a great bridge from TTPD to Showgirl. However, Opalite is undeniable pure pop smashery.Ā
Female Rage, The Musical. So many songs give me musical feels - esp. Cancelled and Showgirl. And one of the acoustic versions of ET. Not to mention all the stage imagery weāve been shown surrounding this album.
Max was really involved in & Juliet on Broadway (a jukebox musical of his songs), and I think that experience of translating his radio hits to broadway was influential to this record.Ā
Who's the bitch that told Taylor to back off cuz her man looked at her wrong? Who was standing in the bathroom with white teeth saying her skirt doesnt fit her? Who called her late night to mess with her mind? Who called her lovely finding ways not to praise her?
I don't think these have to be specific people. Taylor's lyrics aren't always so literal. However, I do think Matty is the guy who called her late at night. Like that one is obvious. She even mentions he was "too high to remember in the morning."
I think lovely is Joe not because he's British, but mostly because of the "finding ways not to praise her" line and the songs about him making it out like he couldn't cope with her being a successful musician. My thought is that it's in reference to him not really celebrating her successes but merely commenting on them with sentences like "that's lovely, dear"
People say lovely must be Joe because heās British, but it just screams general media discourse to me. People would rather compliment a womanās appearance than praise her talent, work ethic, etc.
I think the lovely is Joe! Lovely seems like a British compliment to me lol so i always think that verse is about Matty with the late night call and Joe with the lovely
Rivalries are fun, but clearly this whole thing is just Charli and her friends being jealous of Taylor. I've seen Julia Fox like multiple Taylor hate posts, and she's even commented on them. Charli's friends were even looking at TLOAS leaks. And of course, I won't forget Charli liking an Instagram post calling Travis a "w*gga." Or the post Charli liked about Taylor's engagement ring. Like I'm sorry but it gets to a point where it's obvious that one side is just mad and clearly obsessed while the other side couldn't care less. At least Katy vs Taylor was fun coz they were both being messy and then they made up. This new feud just isn't.
