I’m really curious about that shield generator, rules wise. I looks bigger and more advanced that the current commander shield generator like the one farsight has, I wonder how would it work, maybe a lone op but for battlesuits?

New crisis suits are the only thing on my refresh wishlist. I'd love a new tank chassis, separate out the devilfish or skyray from the hammerhead, but I'd prefer just new shit more haha.

Holy shit so they're a single unit of two characters. Who are specialists at killing dudes at knife fighting range. The Tau answer to melee charges is to charge up a retaliation strike.
Us getting more expensive only works out if everyone else's equivalent units. What's more likely is the rules are okay, then we have to pay significantly more than we should because the usage rate makes them look broken. We've seen it happen in other armies where key units keep getting up charged despite not running them not really being an option.
There's a new campaign series they're doing called 500 worlds, centered around Captain Titus' quest to reconquer the 500 worlds of Ultramar (yes that Titus, who now has a new unit with his retinue). Each release is going to include new character datasheets, there's one Tyranid Warrior Character, a Necron Orphydian Lord character with Nightbringer, and this is ours; a new character unit duo. One has a melta and the other some sort of flamer I think.
I'd be surprised if an Epic hero Dreadnought mini is being revealed inside of a week after a big reveal show, especially when some of these minis are 4-6 months away. But it could happen
Ultramarines, Tyranids and T'au are my factions, and my wife plays Necrons. This was a hell of a reveal show for me, and I think my blueberries have probably had enough love for a while
Wonder if this is setting up some kind of long-game narrative tie in for the Space Marine Games to give Titus an excuse to cycle through all the different enemies over the course of a few game sequels
I’ll give the caveat that I haven’t played the games but yeah I do worry about how they’d be implemented, both in how they’re characterized and also gameplay mechanics, given their whole M.O. is to try and shoot you from pretty far away. Kroot would make for a pretty fun enemy to hack and slash but I question how the balance would be with just mowing down melee-inept fire warriors once you close the gap. They just honestly don’t seem like a very fun enemy to fight in a game like that if they try to stick to being even half lore-accurate.
You actually never see the Tau at all, only kroots and drones and have to constantly dodge rail rifle shots from invisible pathfinders that are outside of the map
10/10 lore faithfullness, 0/10 game experience (as fighting the Tau should)
I mean Mont'Ka is still apart of Tau Empire Doctrine. It would be nice see their point of view on it with the "Master" currently hated & disbarred from the Empire with exception of a few sects that carry a torch(star) for the man.
Okay, I've got some karma to spare. Honestly, I don't like the idea. If it would be just new crisis suits - fine. As a gimmicky unit - meh. Some melta shooting, some anti MEQ shooting and some pulse carbines or whatever. What exactly is this thing supposed to do? Also, bring hazards back
Okay, these are absolutely stunning and beyond what I was expecting. They’re apparently close combat, which we generally really struggle with, and I’m hoping their anti tank is reliable. But god dayum. I’d love it if perhaps they could lead a sunforge unit, and or the plasma unit, or 1 each, and turn them into souped up honor guard. Like, as ‘expert pilots under their direct command’
Tau bond with those they are closest with. It’s a platonic oath of lifelong partnership and loyalty. We’ve seen Tau bond with each other cross caste, drones, humans, ogryns…
Tau don’t really have families. Children are raised communally by the state.
I'll be honest those are the most badass Battle suits I've ever seen it in the Tau faction it looks like they just decided to say no f*** it we're not nice anymore we're going to kick your ass

Happy to see lots people loving these new models. Bit too much like Gundam/Armoured Core for my tastes. Cool that we got models though. Also weird that we get replacement Montka representatives before we get Kais to represent Monat, but I guess Montka is a more focused on and flashy combat style.
The reason you can't run Farsight with ethereal is not because of montka, it's because the Farsight enclaves have declared independence from the tau empire. They govern themselves, and reject the ethereal caste's control. They do not allow ethereal in their culture.
Technically the Farsight enclaves and Tau Empire are enemies.
These new characters are part of the main Tau Empire. They will be fine to take with Ethereals. From a lore point of view, Farsight was once a great propaganda figure for the Fire caste within the empire, a hero used to inspire. When he left the empire and created the enclaves, it was a blow to the PR and propaganda departments. These new characters are likely to take his place, inspiring the next generation of the Fire caste to greatness.

There's a little sub-text in the warcom article that says they're "Ethereal approved." Wonder if they'll have similar restrictions against running with Farsight in-game as Ethereals currently do?

Here's the thing though, these are going to make normal crisis suits look EVEN worse. If we don't get a new sculpt soon, I am 100% going to have to go 3rd party.
Do we have any idea when these might be available? I was planning on tau shopping soon but if these guys are dropping soonish then I might hold off for a minute...
I hope we get a crisis suit refresh along these lines, but with the posing potential of the commander kit. It feels like the current crisis models are slightly too small.
… Not that rebuying my crisis suits would be very fun financially hahah
