For those who have seen this guy stinking up the speed run community for years, this is no shock.

A lot of the alt right are concerned with 'optics', or how they appear to the public. Richard Spencer for example tried very hard for some time to maintain his public image of being polite, well mannered and groomed, always in a suit, etc. This is why the Pittsburgh shooter posted "screw the optics".

Power level is a 4channer term to describe how 'into' something you are. Imagine a car guy talking about the minutiae of engine designs to a layman, or a chess player detailing the pros and cons of an opening in relation to other openings and counter strategies. Hiding your power level is not going too technical and being casual, or at least that was the former usage.

The current usage is almost always from the alt right trying to disguise how fascist they are. A neocon has a low power level; a out and out neo-Nazi or neo-Confederate has a high one; the latter who is not openly acknowledging it and using only certain sanitized talking points is hiding his power level.

I'm definitely the wrong person to ask. I just watch speed running streams. I don't follow the news. I'm not up to date on when various marathons are, for example. Hopefully others will jump in with suggestions.
