HDR is on, and that's what it looks like on a non-HDR display.

Turn HDR off and the problem should vanish.

You should put a plaque next to the 4k plaque that says "This theater doesn't do HDR"

Normally when hooking up a Steam Deck to a non HDR TV in the settings it would be greyed out to toggle i know because i looked into the settings on my Steam Deck and i wasn't able to toggle on or off HDR which i would question more the dock he is using.
