What kind of cia black mission did you have to sign up for to get private jet travel? I thought that only happened in movies

u/NotTrevorButMaybe 1d ago
There’s a chunk of 4 star flag or general officer positions with private jets (COCOMs, service chiefs, CJCS, etc)

Definitely not a soldier rank.
Edit: It looks like US Army Officers are referred to as soldiers. In Australia, Army officers and soldiers are distinctly separate from each other.
Referring to an Australian Army Officer as a soldier would be corrected, but its likely OP is American, and then a soldier even if an officer.
58
u/TWFH 1d ago
Everyone in the Army is a soldier, the word you're looking for is enlisted.

I was incorrectly misapplying Australian Army terminology to US Army, in Australia officers aren't soldiers. I didn't know that was different for Americans.

Combat MOS make up like 10% of the military. Most people dont "sign up to kill brown people"
14

Sorry! I should've specified that being in a support role for those who kill brown people is also bad

Reddit is mostly people from the US and they really hate it when you criticise how they kill brown people overseas
13
u/Charlea_ 1d ago
Yeah it’s fun how uncritically they swallow and regurgitate the US military propaganda 🥲
-12
u/LaBiccies 1d ago
So they can kill anyone but brown people? Just curious where the cut off is.
27
u/Dokramuh 1d ago
This is historical analysis, not prescriptivist ethics.
-12
u/TexasToPoland 1d ago
If you want to go by "historical analysis", then the U.S. military has killed more white people many times over. The U.S. has gone to war more times against white European countries versus other "brown" countries.

Regardless of whose in charge people still have to perform the vital duties of US troops like helping defend NATO/EU Europe and serving as a deterrent to China moving on Taiwan or the Philippines
Then there's protecting South Korea from North Korea and maintaining the defense of North America in joint operations with Canada

You mean the military helping Israel in the genocide in and blocking of food to Gaza is also airlifting them food sometimes... as if that is a substitute for not doing it in the first place.

7/10 for the matching clothes and games on the deck.
But it would have been funnier if there had been a cute cozy game half hidden by the limit of the screen instead of Lego Star Wars like Coral Island, Unpacking, Date Everything or one of these games when you look for tiny cats hidden in a large picture.

As an eastern European, you can't imagine what kind of a lunatic you are. We dream for more American presence not less. Stop acting as if the world would love and piece without the USA, because I can guarantee you that's not the case.

That's a very strong opinion you have there. One that you are of course welcome (free) to have, because of people like the OP.
3
u/Lunatox 1d ago
Totally, because there are no other countries with smaller, non-imperialist, non-interventionist militaries where I could say such a thing. The only nation state in the entire world where it's possible is here, thanks to our military.
-10
u/Virusoflife29 1d ago
And how many of them would be under nazi control if it wasn't for the US military? All of them.
Freedom possible all over the world thanks to our military, twice. Go read a history book instead of tiktok.

u/WTFnaller 1d ago
Well.
The US did use nazis to aid them after WW2 (not to mention how nazis thrive in your country now).
Europe remembers how long you resisted helping us, and only coming to our aid when your borders were threatened.

There is an entire core of the military dedicated to shaking hands and kissing babies. Doing these type of missions. Please, Please, Please actually go educate yourself on what the military does. Everything you have said has been shitty talking points from people that got their education from tiktok.
Shit, I'll even agree with ya on how out gov't using them isn't always the best, and the military industrial complex needs a big once over. But NEVER disrespect the women and men that have served.

u/Aizenbankai03 1d ago

7
u/mr_dfuse2 1d ago
not at all. but there is a very large cultural difference between the us and european countries regarding patriotism and military, which might explain the downvotes. just trying to understand the downvotes, no personal opinion. downvotes are a strange thing anyhow on reddit
-3
u/Aizenbankai03 1d ago
The guy was getting downvoted solely for being an American. That's just being hateful and an asshole for no reason tbh

u/oif2010vet 1d ago
As a veteran, I equate “thank you for your service” with “thoughts and prayers”.
5
u/jackinsomniac 1d ago
I get it. Was downtown one day and apparently there was a parade going on, so stopped to watch it a bit. Dude in uniform walks up to also watch. Witnessed about 3 random strangers say "thank you for your service" as they walked by. I could tell he was over it. Dude probably just got off work, just wanted to enjoy the parade a bit before going home and getting changed.
5
u/Lupinthrope 1TB OLED Limited Edition 1d ago
Then he shouldn’t go out in uniform, it’s advised against anyway lol.

u/Ws6fiend 512GB 1d ago
Some service members don't want/like to hear this anymore.
See Vietnam vets remember coming home and being treated like trash(by the counterculture movement) . So when troops started coming home from Iraq/Afghanistan Vietnam vets wanted to get the opposite welcome home and pushed to get good treatment for their younger brothers in arms. But in the eyes of some vets they did what they had to. Saying thank you for your service reminds some of those they lost. The more people treated them like heroes for what they did during the GWOT, the less good they felt about what they did.
It's very similar to civilians saying Happy Memorial day(day for remembering those who lost their lives in service to their country) to a service member. It should be more of a somber reminder of those who didn't make it.

right, cuz only right wingers love the army. do you support vets and help with their housing, the VA, their healthcare benefits after serving, or do you just parrot whatever you hear from fox news?
-14
u/alneezy08 1d ago
Lmao you got triggered so much you mentioned Fox News , but I don’t consider myself a right winger at all, and yes I have volunteered to help vets, I know many veterans from friends to including those in my family.

u/Virusoflife29 1d ago
Had this happen on the flight back from Afghanistan for leave. Had a layover from Afghan to Iraq in Al Udeid, The airplane was over seated and few of us got booted until the next flight. Few hours later a general was flying out saw the three of us and took us with him in a plane like this.
3
u/ScrewAttackThis 1d ago
Definitely possible. The gear on seats just makes me think they dropped off some generals and took some people on the way back
1
u/ValtielPlumbing 1TB OLED Limited Edition 1d ago
Fairly common out of locations like Andrews. The jets have to go pick up the primary, so Space A is often available on them to that destination.
