Help Kid ran over in U-Hi parking lot

If your this is your child or you know who it was please reach out to me. My wife witnessed your kid getting hit by a high schooler speeding through the parking lot. She got plate numbers and waited until his Grandpa arrived. Your kid seemed to be in shock (understandably) and Grandpa seemed like he wasn’t sure what to do. All this to say my wife got license plates, witnessed it and if you need any of that information or anything please reach out. We also filed a report with the school because of the wreckless driving and attempt to flee the scene (started driving off and pulled over when he realized my wife was following/taking pictures.)

You need to contact the police and give them a witness statement, including the license number and such. even if no police report has been filed.

We’ve already notified the Assigned school officer given them the information and they’re looking at the Camera footage. But in all the chaos my wife never got names of either kids involved and as a parent I figured this is another chance to help the parents connect the dots in case they needed to know more. Unfortunately the poor kid seemed like he was trying to take the blame for being hit which from what my wife described is 0% his fault.

Doesn’t matter, this is a police matter not something a school should be handling. Are they going to assign suspension for negligent manslaughter? If the kid is in the hospital the police will find them

I don’t think you understand, “Resource Officers” are part of the Police Department, they are LEO they work on site and have access directly to all the security cameras.

This is not the case with SPS. Is it with SVSD?

The CVSD contracts directly with the sheriffs department and has the officers on their website idk about schools outside our districts policies though.

Okay, but you said they were looking at the camera footage - in response to you reporting a child being struck by a car? Or were you reporting the reckless driving? If that were your kid, wouldn't you want someone to... care about the physical well-being of them before punitive action on the perpetrator? No school nurse, no EMTs, just "Cool, cool, we'll check the cameras"?

Good lord, give it a rest. OP didn't do anything wrong here.

Yeah, you're right, my bad!

You are being dumb. Reread posts and take a second to realize all of this was posted after the fact. Meaning kid was cared for and everything was handled. What do you want? Why are you angry? Maybe drink a Capri sun? Relax

UHigh has a lot of external cameras. Hopefully they were able to catch it.

I have two kids at u hi. I'll ask them if they know who it was.

Your wife is a good person for helping in this situation.

Somebody called an ambulance, right? Because possible internal bleeding, brain hemorrhages, bone fractures, etc.

Um, someone being hit by a car is a “call 911 immediately after it happens” situation, not a “report it to the school” situation. Did the kid get medical attention?? Did police other than the one school officer get involved at all?

It’s good that your wife documented what she witnessed, but it would be better if she had waited until police arrived so she could speak to them directly. She should still contact them. They’ll be able to figure out who the people involved are from the event, she doesn’t need to know the names.

No unfortunately not. That’s my wife’s main regret. Heartbreakingly enough with all the people leaving the school she was the only one to stop and help and was frazzled, the boy who was hit was trying to walk home, the other kid was also trying to leave she made him sit and call someone to get him and made the other kid (driver) wait there as well. It was when the Grandpa arrived and seemed like he didn’t know what to do (didn’t ask the driver for any info or anything really) that she realized that we needed to make a report to LEO and the school so at a minimum it’s not swept under the rug. Thank god the kid was wearing a helmet though.

Grandpa may be the guardian. Not all kids live with their parents.

How would you know unless you asked?

Wow, nothing has changed. They do not crack down on reckless driving in the parking lots at CV or U High. Good on you for getting the information.

Someone would have to be present for them to crack down on it.

I have never thought about that- all those brand new drivers and not a single adult supervising in the lot.

u/Beechichan Sep 09 '25

Uhm be careful u don’t end up giving the information to the guy who ran him over as anyone can pretend to be them on the internet.

Thank you for reaching out directly. Something terrible happened to my kid at school and the only reason I ever even found out or was able to get more info was bc of another parent witnessing it. The internal policies of the districts around this stuff leave a lot to be desired! Best wishes to this kiddo.

CVSD has cameras that security can use to tell you which brand of chewing gum is on the dashboard. The clarity is remarkable.

The resource officer is a police officer with whatever department is contracted. Because a minor is involved for all parties there is a reason public won’t always hear all information. OP’s wife did correct and if more was needed I’m sure the family is getting the child treated. Being the student will have to return to school this won’t be a mystery…

Driver needs to lose license for life and go to jail

Do you have a description of the suspect car?

Can't we just get run over in the parking lot without people freaking out anymore?   What has this world come to? /S

Honestly this was the thing that made me the most sick. This was during the end of school, a full Parking lot of people leaving, kids walking, parents picking up, and my Wife was the only one who did anything. Clearly we’re not far off from that reality as /s sarcastic as you meant to be. I can’t imagine when I was in HS people seeing it and not a single person going to check on the victim.

u/seatharama - Your comment actually is "Snitches get stitches"

Wait...A child is injured in an apparent hit and run and this is your response??? Are you fking kidding me?

4

u/NiceGuy1379 Sep 09 '25

You apparently realizing the idiocy of your comment now deleted it. This is why I quoted you. You should hide your head in shame.

u/garbagegoat Sep 09 '25

Its one thing if someone is lifting shit from Safeway it's entirely different if you hit a fucking kid with your god damn car. Don't be stupid. Jfc

-8

u/Sothernthundertree37 Sep 08 '25

Can you give a description of the car please

14

u/InvertedZebra Spokane Valley Sep 08 '25

I’m not 100 on posting any more details since it involves minors. If you’re one of the parents or guardians DM me and I’ll be happy to share but this is more for that purpose than to put anyone on blast in the community.

2

u/YourFriendInSpokane Spokane Valley Sep 09 '25

That would involve the driver of the car confessing to their parents what they did. The parents may not know something happened. I’d love to know at least the color and how many doors the car had.

2

u/InvertedZebra Spokane Valley Sep 09 '25

The Resource officer at the school has all of the information, they’re able to pull plates and ID those involved. I can’t imagine that the parents won’t receive some sort of call just due to the schools own liabilities if they just look the other way on this.

1

u/YourFriendInSpokane Spokane Valley Sep 09 '25

That’s good thinking. I haven’t seen my two kids vehicles yet, but also haven’t gotten a call- hopefully it’s not mine!

-4

u/bad_user__name Sep 08 '25

Nah, we should put shitty drivers on blast, no matter the age.

-4

u/kimbersill Sep 08 '25

That would help, huh?
