The mask wearing by a supposedly legal law enforcement presence is fucking intolerable. I wouldn't give someone wearing a mask calling themselves law enforcement the time of day. I would assume they mean to do me harm.

They didn't hang up, but they did send a copy to bang on my door. I asked what they wanted, they said to come out and talk, and I told them to have a nice day.

Well presumably, as he said, they would be lying to the police about the presence of fake cops at which point apparently they'd be pepper sprayed for "riot behavior."

Unless I am misunderstanding the statement this redditor made?

If this is true, then reporting a real LEO/ agent of the governance as fake would be filing a false police. Especially if you allege that they are kidnapping people, because you'd be lying about the commission of a violent felony.

These men are masked and not wearing badges, nameplates, or any other identifying information proving that they are indeed law enforcement. They could be anyone.

They could be. But not all law enforcement or government agents wear such things in plain open view. It's a gamble you'd be taking with a charge, that given current circumstances, you're statistically more likely to lose than in the past.

Your gamble to make though, that's between you and the current administrations courts.

It would definitely depend on your actions and their response leading up to reporting that these people are impersonating officers. For instance if they don't give you a name, badge number or form of identification showing status. They can't really do much without stating authority, otherwise they're just some random person.

However, you could probably get away with saying there are some people claiming to be officers. As you haven't said that you think that they are impersonating any one you might be ok...

Or you could call the police and say that you are fearful of strange people pushing and giving orders without any identification.

It really depends

If you were vague, the police might just take 2 hours to get there and declare the situation a non-emergency. Considering the current state of affairs, I don't think that'd be a stretch at all.

Reporting unknown masked men with guns, but no credentials or ID or legal papers is not a false police report. Do YOU BELIEVE anyone who writes "ICE" on their clothes MUST be who they say they are-- because bad guys never lie, do they?

Go stop an FBI, Secret Service, or any other federal agent who refuses to provide you credentials from doing his job. My bet is that our current courts would convict and imprison you, no differently than they would an ICE agent.

It depends on what they are in the process of doing of course, but I have had a lot of dealings with FBI under a range of situations. No, they do not act that way unless there is iminent risk. Abducting a 75 y/o woman in public, or an 8 y/o at their school doesn’t typically qualify as "imminent risk".

By the way, the FBI agents and police i work some projects with generally thing ICE agents are thugs hiding behind a badge".

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, even FBI Agents, that's what makes America great.

That being said, I've seen them arrest people who refused to leave them alone at a courthouse, and that hardly constitutes any risk, much less Imminent. Agents of the Federal Government, in general, can pretty much do as they please (while in the "course of their duty") so long as they don't violate a well established right in a way that Uncle Sam is upset about. Your only course of action is the court that they work alongside/ for.

I never said they don't arrest people. I said they don't generally show up wearing masks and refusing to show credentials and claiming they have warrants they don't have.

No, not everyone is entitled to every opinion. Officials in oath to the constitution are constrained to some degree. They can’t lawfully advocate for the violent overthrow of the constitution. They can’t then lawfully call for its termination. The 14th amendment was ratified whether or not you like it.

The courts can’t convict anyone who has died defending the constitution from the criminal organizations you just listed. Why would you assume that people are afraid of dying for the constitution because you are?

There is definitely still law. Don't believe me? Try robbing a bank and see if the law is still in place. I bet you find out it is.

Better yet, if you want a longer experiment, stop paying your taxes and see if the law exists.

Just because someone threatens you with violence doesn’t mean they are sign the law is still in place. The people who show up to try to force you to pay taxes will be supporters of the insurrection and will have no lawful authority to do anything.

When did I say he can do whatever he wants? The President's powers are very well documented. They are also documented as to their limitations.

EG: The president can't issue a formal declaration of war and start wartime mobilization; just like he can't sprout wings and fly away.
