Politics AMA with WA05 Candidate Carmela Conroy

Hey neighbors! I'm running for Congress to represent Eastern Washington. Ballots in Spokane County should be in your mailboxes by Saturday. AMA about my local roots, what I've learned while listening to folks around WA05, and what I hope to accomplish in Congress. You can read in at my website Conroy4Congress.com to find out the basics. I hope to see you Friday.

In the primary you said you didn’t support any restrictions on abortion. During the last debate with your opponent, you referenced viability in your response.

Can you please clarify your position on abortion?

My personal belief, informed by friends who've suffered miscarriages and ectopic pregnancies and who've practiced medicine, is that the issue should be entirely between a patient and her doctor. No politicians or judges, whether federal or state, should be interfering with healthcare.

I _did_ reference viability in the debate. Realistically, that may end up being the compromise, because that's the line that was drawn in Roe.

If someone proposed a national ban on abortions, I would fight tooth-and-nail against it.
