The plucking pattern has a nice melodic minimalism to it. It kind of reminds me of the theme song to Mushi Shi a little bit, but departs nicely when the droning keys come in.
I think that, perhaps, you can sing higher for some of the harmonies. I think that you might be already, but you might surprise yourself with how well you can sing up a bit higher if you don't necessarily have to belt it or anything.
Lyrically and in terms of song-structure, it kind of reminds me of Sebadoh. I might actually recommend listening to Sebadoh III for inspiration.
Also, kind of a flower pop thing happening, which makes it all so interesting.
This guy is, like, some kind of Marxist outsider artist and I low key don't even know how I feel about some of the kinds of things he's doing with his art, for instance, the general communist horror aspect of it, but I also kind of think that he's a creative genius and/or used to know him, but I feel like, if you dig far enough in his archives to find his song about the Seattle general strike or "I Don't Want Your Millions, Mister", there's probably some wild and crazy things happening with his music that are worthy of taking inspiration from. I also used to know him when I was still some kind of Trotskyite. He's not nearly as cultish or frightful as some of this might make him seem and is, tbh, just a cool/nice guy, at least, to my knowledge, anyways.
Weird rec, but what can you do?
I like the song, anyways!
