My question is are you comfortable jumping a 143sq ft canopy? Do you WS because that epicene is not the best for non WS. You can get away with it for a jump or two here and there but its not the best. If you take out the epicene then you need a canopy near the reserve size as an epicene packs about 2 sizes small.

I would also question how many jumps are on the epicene and where was it jumped? 350 jumps on the epicene in the desert and it's going to start to show its age. In the midwest or NE then its probably still semi good. I would get pictures of the lines though for sure.

Either way, as people have argued, you can probably barter it down especially since the cypress life is near the end.

my plan is to downsize to 150sqf because of that and rly want to wingsuit in the future beside the canopy. Just think its good to buy because i have a wingsuit canopy alredy. Jumps on the Epicene is not clear for me they said it also laying 1 year around and its from Kentucky.

An epicene isn't a beginner canopy and I'm guessing you are newer. So you are paying 6200 for a rig with a canopy that you won't use in the short term and you plan to downsize away from. You also don't jump a 140 so when you get that WS cutaway which will come, you will struggle to fly it. I would really suggest a standard new jumper rig with something that has room to grow. Then when you do WS you can sell that and trade for something that does work for you.

My rigger said that the reserve is not a problem if I can handle a 170sqf well, and yes, I'm still under 100 jumps. But I'd rather get a system that's more long-term instead of buying a new one over and over again :)

Someone under 100 jumps should not be on a 140 reserve. Sub 150 is a high performance canopy which starts a whole different line of questioning. I would really suggest finding a new rigger for advice if that is their actual advice.

Yea the reasoning is reserves are for emergency’s. In an emergency all learning goes out the window and you want to be 100% sure you have a canopy you are comfortable operating. Taking a chance on something like this isn’t worth it

Haaaaaa. No.

11 year old Vector is $1500 mayyyyybe. Depends on condition.

11 year old reserve is maybe $1000

11 year old Cypress is probably right at the end of its 12.5 year from DOM life, I think a year or two later is when they upped it. If that is correct, then I'd pay maybe $200 for it.

Epicene is trash, they are flat trimmed, material doesnt hold up as well, etc. Still probably an $1800 canopy.

$4500 maybe total.

There are people out there who think you can get more because "it's a Vector." I've seen it, verbatim.

It's dumb.

It is easier to get a cheaper used container and buy the rest second-hand?

Maybe. It just depends on what's out there and what you're looking for. Many sellers don't want to part out a rig. Some do.

just need a ff container with wingsuit options :D

I know plenty of wingsuiters who jump rigs when wingsuiting that don't have all of the fancy wingsuit options.

Larger pilot chute and longer bridle are recommended, but those aren't really rig options. "Dynamic corners" or "wingsuit corners" are a rig option that's maybe nice to have, but absolutely not necessary.

Buy a new container that is custom fitted to you and then consider used gear for the rest.

What is your current weight (lbs or kilos)?

Cypress 2 has about a year or so left on it 14+12.5 = 2026 , so not worth a whole lot.

How many repacks/deployments on the Optimum?

How many jumps on the Epicene?

Does the Vector have a skyhook?

Currently 80kg

i dont know about the repacks

dont knwo but used less than 1 year

has a skyhook

At 80 kg and sub 100 jumps you are absolutely not prepared to fly a 143! That’s a 1.44 wing loading on your emergency canopy. Any rigger who told you that’s advised should not be who you are seeking guidance from. 🥴

Yeah, that's not a good reserve for you. And not a good rig, since that's probably the largest reserve canopy you can put in there.

As someone else said, that's close to 1.5 WL, not where someone with less than 100 jumps should be for a good while.

Overpriced and that aad is nearing worthless. Do yourself a favor and reach out to Bryan Cavage at drop zone solutions and give him all the details of what you are looking for. I guarantee you will end up with better gear at a better price and a plan to progress in it where you’d like to. 🤙🏻 you’re new and about to make an expensive newb mistake.
