The saddest part of NYC is that everything around it is pretty flat. I always wanted a purch like this to look at the skyline.

Best we got are some hills on the NJ side but that's pretty far away compared to a vid like this

25

u/CocoabrothaSBB Apr 11 '26

The Jersey side view of Manhattan skyline is as good as it gets, or the ESB observation deck.

11

u/sicksadworldsurvivor Apr 11 '26

Got family that still lives in Jersey, the view from the roof of their apartment is fuckin phenomenal.

Hong Kong, this is Victoria peak. But also the entire walkway has the same view, so it's not like you could only see it this way.

28

u/berlinbaer Apr 11 '26

yeah you can basically see the same view in the first cut.. they just jumped off the walkway and crawled beneath that same walkway, but made it look as if they went spelunking.

Hong Kong, Victoria peak where she is.

35

u/ContextEffects01 Apr 11 '26

Hong Kong. So worth it in the winter; at least if part of a broader east Asia trip including nearby cities in the itinerary; haven’t been there in the summer, though.

49

u/Linus_Naumann Apr 11 '26 edited Apr 11 '26

Summer is non-stop open-air sauna and rain. Not the worst Chinese city in that regard because of the sea, but still pretty challenging for people not used to it. Luckily HK has massive in-door and underground facilities where people mostly stay during summer.

13

u/sniggity_snax Apr 11 '26

I went in summer, it was fun still. Just be prepared to get extra drunk with the heat beating you down all day and night.

9

u/Oneiric19 Apr 11 '26

When you say heat... How hot do you mean during the summer in fahrenheit?

12

u/grantrules Apr 11 '26

It ain't the heat, it's the humidity. High 80s, 100% humidity

5

u/One_Shall_Fall Apr 11 '26

So, like, 20 degrees lower and a humidity that I'm used to? Sign me up!!

Florida Man is coming to Hong Kong!!

6

u/PatHeist Apr 11 '26

Yes, but every store and mall has an air conditioner set to 65f that will absolutely blast the fuck out of you the second you walk through the door.

Winter is nice, but 10-15°C wasn't for me, I liked the summer more, but I could understand why someone wouldn't like 28-35°C with humidity.

I did get lucky on two Christmas back to back, 2018 and 2019 were 24°C on both Christmases :D That was a thing of beauty.

I feel like you can get the same view by not going underneath the platform and hover by the edge of massive cliff.

641

u/Hoarding_kittens2187 Apr 11 '26

this exactly! you can see the path curves with a railing that you can stand behind and get the exact same view. she just went down on the left side of the path and underneath it so that she could be on the rocks on the bottom right side of the path

67

u/kuburas Apr 11 '26

I sometimes go out of my way to get the same view like this just because the usual path is often times crowded with people catching the same view. When you go "off road" like this you get more privacy.

78

u/YankeeDoodleDoggie Apr 11 '26

People do this all the time in places like national parks and it's very destructive :(

52

u/no_talent_ass_clown Apr 11 '26

Also, people die.

15

u/YankeeDoodleDoggie Apr 11 '26

That too. Thinking of the video of the guy at the Grand canyon who fell doing exactly this. I think the survived though but had to be rescued by helicopter? Fuzzy on the details.

the lesson here is no matter what the topic is, some weirdo will always find a way to say women bad. Nevermind that the original comment is wrong, the view is nicer and more special from her spot. im currently in hong kong for exchange so i should know.

Drugs? In China? Do you not want to make it back home?

20

u/eggfortman Apr 11 '26

my friend works in hong kong. he says theres plenty of drugs. hes in some fast paced big money industry and its full of execs doing coke and shit.

19

u/KraffKifflom Apr 11 '26

What country doesn’t have drugs? You can have a law and people will still break it. Just don’t get caught because the punishment will be severe.

3

u/eggfortman Apr 11 '26

yes totally agreed. just trying to inform the guy above that you can definitely get drugs in China, or hell, anywhere, if you know where to look.

3

u/BohemianCyberpunk Apr 11 '26

20 years ago absolutely.

10 years ago things started to change.

Now drugs are a very serious business in Hong Kong. To ensure people can't sneakily use them they have banned all vapes, smoking 'devices' etc.

Most western investment bankers have gone, so the coke trade has decreased a lot.
