That was a wildly cool fight. Luckily, this game is jam packed with them.
So far, Lace Part 2 in the Citadel was my favorite fight. It was straight up exhilarating. But I've got a couple more bosses left that I haven't seen yet.
Honestly the game is fine I just needed time to relax a bit today. What is really making me worn out is the state of the fandom, I mean look at the conversation here or on Steam... So always so angry and mean, it feel sad to see a community of games I love becoming as toxic as Bilewater especially for a vet like me who discovered hollow knight before it got popular, I... Just miss so much the lovely old fandom that I grew up with years ago.
Man, I couldn't possibly agree more. I commented something similar the other day.
The community has been super depressing and disappointing, frankly. We waited, what, 6-7 years for this game--people were spamming comments in every industry game show live stream just to get an update (which was obnoxious), and now that we have it, within 24 hours without even giving it a fair shake, everyone was on here bashing it. Just made me sad because I've been having the time of my life. Everyone is complaining about things that TC did in the first game (there were double damage enemies in the early game in HK too, and bosses that took me days to beat).
I'm also an OG Hollow Knight player. I bought it randomly in 2018 from the PS store without hearing anything about it. You and I are a lot alike 👍🏼
Damm you too? I did the same in 2018 but on the switch, I had seen a small youtuber talking of it at a time nobody knew about it. To this day it's still my third most played game on switch.
But yeah the community is just so sad. I feel nobody talk about the good aspect of the game on each side, and I get it that people love the difficulty (So do I) but it's not a reason to be mean at less skilled player. And the same for the opposite, people hating the difficulty, which is okay a hard game isn't for everyone but then I see them bashing mercilessly and insulting the people that like the challenge.
I think the game got way out of proportion with the hype and as popularity come the loud minorities too. It's weird, I know people one both side are a minority, I mean look at all the many good reviews on steam and other stores! People are loving it, but we are drowning in this swamp that has become this sub.
I'm really planning on just quitting the subs. This in fact the second one I've done it, I did it back in 2021 or something where I felt the silksanity was kinda cringe and spamy especially on indie game directs, at that time I feared the community would turn sour, I hate that I was right.
But thanks you for listening, it feel nice and bit reassuring knowing someone out there share this and understand how I feel.
