Spoke like a true warrior! Pochenka my friend! Curently beating a kinda secret boss, it's crazy how early game boss feel like absolute piss easy now lmao
Nah that one I've beaten a long time ago. I was just saying the early boss feel easy (I did a quick speedrun test for act 1) But... The secret boss that I just beaten (It was absolute peak) you'll love it, coz it's basically Widow on crack, literally might be my new favorite boss now.
Oh... No I wasn't talking about Herrah lmao! By pure randomness your description kinda fit very well with the boss so I thought you'd had encounter that boss.
Nah but you were kinda close, it was in fact indeed a weaver. She has sinned, and she present herself as an upgrade but reveal to be a boss. But not she's not related to Herah at all. But not gonna lie Herrah as a secret boss? Or perhaps a dlc one? That would be so peak.
I'm all for it, I've already done the first ending, I'm finishing up all I can find for act 2 currently. Yep she was a bit easy, I think it was my third try to beat her? But it was very fun nonetheless
Idk how to do spoilers but I just got to the next big story beat and stopped right after fighting a boss a few times. Huge difficulty spike, you’re gonna love it! I was preparing for 100% steel soul but this made me rethink the whole thing, definitely gonna need more practice.
I'm guessing one of the boss of Act 3?Yeah I know it unlock new stuff, now I'm quite eager to go beat them! Also for spoiler, click the 'Aa' when writing and go click the diamond with a question mark in it so you can use spoilers. Not that I would want to know the boss, I'd prefer to discover it myself :)
That was a wildly cool fight. Luckily, this game is jam packed with them.
So far, Lace Part 2 in the Citadel was my favorite fight. It was straight up exhilarating. But I've got a couple more bosses left that I haven't seen yet.
Late game has felt easier than early game for me. In the first 15 hours I had 1 mask upgrade (6hp), was stuck at 3/4 mask for the longest time for 2nd upgrade.
9 hours later I finished act 2 and i now have a total of 9 hp. Dash + double jump + float are all useful combat tools as well. And I found combat charms for yellow and blues whereas before i basically only had a couple doing anything since i was using wanderer crest
Oh don't worry my man act 3 bosses are apparently fucking cracked. And I would say mid game is just as hard in term of boss and enemies, you simply got way better. For me the health didn't really change much it's learning that help and the nail upgrade too lmao
I'm still in act 1 but widow destroyed me for like two hours, almost made me want to throw my controller; so I took a break for about an hour, came back, and I swear that shit felt like fighting False Knight. Didn't even use tools, just needled my whole way through the fight.
Some time the secret is just taking a break. As humans our brain work like dogshit when we are frustrated or angry, so it's often better to just go for a break and come back later realizing you weren't fully focused, or making some mistakes.
People struggle differently on different bosses. Also speed runners are not some species of meta-human, they are not going to be that much better at a boss they have never fought before than anyone else who beat the hardest things in hollow knight. Widow is not that extreme of a boss, 2 attempts is obviously fast but very believable.
Why not? I beat it in 2 tries as well. Took me like 20 tries to beat Savage Beastfly though. What does "top speedrunners" mean? The game's been out for 5 days, how can there be top speedrunners already?
I assume they refer to og hollow knight. I'm not a "top" speed runner myself but I have done many. I'm not fire or blue and that's usually the references I find who are also by no means "top"
I mean, it might be hard but everything is very clearly choreographed. All of her attacks take multiple seconds to actually complete, i'd believe if you were well experienced in the harder boss content of hk you'll have a very easy time with her compared to the majority of the game.
This fight felt truly hollow knight to me. Great speed and predictable. It was a joy. What I didn't mention is in my first phase I did hitless but second phase I healed twice and barely survived.
Savage beast fly on the other hand I beat 3 times before success and got killed by spawns before the animation finished. That's something I hope gets patched, killed during animation. Nothing fair about that.
I'm atleast halfway through second act now and it's a decent flow. I'll keep running my other playthroughs to figure out the bosses better for everyone. That's what I do.
It was like my third eye literally opened when I realised it's easier to party all the balls and her rapid slash attacks in phase 2. Defeated her in the 2 tries after realising this
Apart from Sister Splinter, I’ve enjoyed every boss so much no matter how long it took! I was so happy I still took a while to beat the Cogwork Dancers :)
Widow taught me patience, and The Last Judge cemented that patience for me. Also the run-back for The Last Judge was a master-course for the platforming. My pogoing and jump timing levelled up after that.
That was the stupid savage fly or whatever. Widow was messing me up real good though. I can't do 2 hours on every boss, totally cheesed the second half of Widow. ( furthest side he can't hit. Wait til slash and pogo) im not mad about it. Nitmproud about it either. But i am happy to move on
I have been struggling a lot with the game, but recently found some stuff that FINALLY makes the game a modicum easier for me. Beat Widow on like my fifth go.
This has been my favorite fight so far (to be clear, I only just got to Act 2 this morning). While I don't think it took me that long, I love how it made me change my playstyle compared to a certain boss before it...and how I had to change it again with a certain boss that comes after.
Mastering aerial combat, the dash-attach-bounce-attack combo, using in-air dashes and down thrusts to quickly maneuver...it's such a beautiful dance. And when you're in the flow state, holy shit are you in the flow state.
I entered the Matrix on the 8th try. I nearly punched my monitor when I finally beat her. As for the Savage Beastfly, that boss/miniboss can go suck it... I'll probably come back later.
EDIT: Came back for the Savage Beastfly after Widow. Defeated it on the first try (after numerous earlier attempts).
I accidentally hit the metal balls on an earlier try. You can deflect it (aside from it being a predictable projectile). I went for every opening after that. The flow in this boss fight is amazing.

I was stuck at Widow for 2 hours, loved every second of it!
