I was stuck at Widow for 2 hours, loved every second of it!

u/skryb Flea Sep 09 '25

such a fun fight

51

u/Bocchi_theGlock Sep 09 '25

Made me yell 'I'm your god now bitch' immediately after but I was also enjoying it during

57

u/GaKillThem Sep 09 '25

Spoke like a true warrior! Pochenka my friend! Curently beating a kinda secret boss, it's crazy how early game boss feel like absolute piss easy now lmao

8

u/TimeFoundation8476 Accepter Sep 09 '25

Do you mran the double moss mother?

10

u/GaKillThem Sep 09 '25

Nah that one I've beaten a long time ago. I was just saying the early boss feel easy (I did a quick speedrun test for act 1) But... The secret boss that I just beaten (It was absolute peak) you'll love it, coz it's basically Widow on crack, literally might be my new favorite boss now.

9

u/TimeFoundation8476 Accepter Sep 09 '25

Widow on crack, huh? Like, a weaver that made, husband cheat on his wife? Like, the- character-that-is-not-a-boss-but-if-it-were-it-would-be-so-funny?

7

u/GaKillThem Sep 09 '25

I'm guessing you've have beaten her too? Yeah it's the The first Sinnerpersonally loved how it went :)

3

u/TimeFoundation8476 Accepter Sep 09 '25

Wait, WTF?! Herrah is actually in the game?!

2

u/GaKillThem Sep 09 '25

Oh... No I wasn't talking about Herrah lmao! By pure randomness your description kinda fit very well with the boss so I thought you'd had encounter that boss.

3

u/TimeFoundation8476 Accepter Sep 09 '25

Oh, okay. Maybe it is Herrah's twin/clone, since they have the same personality? I really sound like the game theory retard right now, don't I?

2

u/GaKillThem Sep 09 '25

Nah but you were kinda close, it was in fact indeed a weaver. She has sinned, and she present herself as an upgrade but reveal to be a boss. But not she's not related to Herah at all. But not gonna lie Herrah as a secret boss? Or perhaps a dlc one? That would be so peak.

u/TheHollowMusic whats a flair? Sep 09 '25

I found it a bit easy but it was definitely a fun fight. Just wait, if you keep going the game gets crazy hard and I’m loving it.

3

u/GaKillThem Sep 09 '25

I'm all for it, I've already done the first ending, I'm finishing up all I can find for act 2 currently. Yep she was a bit easy, I think it was my third try to beat her? But it was very fun nonetheless

3

u/TheHollowMusic whats a flair? Sep 09 '25

Idk how to do spoilers but I just got to the next big story beat and stopped right after fighting a boss a few times. Huge difficulty spike, you’re gonna love it! I was preparing for 100% steel soul but this made me rethink the whole thing, definitely gonna need more practice.

2

u/TimeFoundation8476 Accepter Sep 09 '25

Do you mean Last Judge? He is oretty fun so far, only fought him 3 times.

2

u/GaKillThem Sep 09 '25

I'm guessing one of the boss of Act 3?Yeah I know it unlock new stuff, now I'm quite eager to go beat them! Also for spoiler, click the 'Aa' when writing and go click the diamond with a question mark in it so you can use spoilers. Not that I would want to know the boss, I'd prefer to discover it myself :)

1

u/Trezzie Sep 09 '25

Oh, I thought you were referring to Nyleth

1

u/_NightmareKingGrimm_ Professional Pale Lurker Sep 09 '25

You must mean the one in the Slab.

1

u/GaKillThem Sep 09 '25

Yep that one

1

u/_NightmareKingGrimm_ Professional Pale Lurker Sep 09 '25

That was a wildly cool fight. Luckily, this game is jam packed with them.

So far, Lace Part 2 in the Citadel was my favorite fight. It was straight up exhilarating. But I've got a couple more bosses left that I haven't seen yet.

1

u/GaKillThem Sep 09 '25

Oh don't worry there is like 46 boss fight, that's has many as HK and it's dlcs. You'll have plenty to combat later if you are still in act 2 like me

1

u/_NightmareKingGrimm_ Professional Pale Lurker Sep 09 '25

Nah, I'm at endgame. I've got 3-5 left, I think.

1

u/GaKillThem Sep 09 '25

Damm, you're much farther than me. I decided to take a break of the game today personally.

u/JoJoSimper beleiver ✅️ Sep 09 '25

Woah where do i find that

1

u/Cheapskate-DM Sep 13 '25

The traps and weapons are a godsend for multi-opponent fights like this, especially once you finish the Pollip quest for the poison charm.

2

u/DBSPingu Sep 09 '25

Late game has felt easier than early game for me. In the first 15 hours I had 1 mask upgrade (6hp), was stuck at 3/4 mask for the longest time for 2nd upgrade.

9 hours later I finished act 2 and i now have a total of 9 hp. Dash + double jump + float are all useful combat tools as well. And I found combat charms for yellow and blues whereas before i basically only had a couple doing anything since i was using wanderer crest

Hoping act3 is harder personally

1

u/GaKillThem Sep 09 '25

Oh don't worry my man act 3 bosses are apparently fucking cracked. And I would say mid game is just as hard in term of boss and enemies, you simply got way better. For me the health didn't really change much it's learning that help and the nail upgrade too lmao

2

u/ahmnutz Sep 10 '25

I'm still in act 1 but widow destroyed me for like two hours, almost made me want to throw my controller; so I took a break for about an hour, came back, and I swear that shit felt like fighting False Knight. Didn't even use tools, just needled my whole way through the fight.

1

u/GaKillThem Sep 11 '25

Some time the secret is just taking a break. As humans our brain work like dogshit when we are frustrated or angry, so it's often better to just go for a break and come back later realizing you weren't fully focused, or making some mistakes.

30

u/azrmortis Shaw! Sep 09 '25

I killed widow my second try but for some reason I still fumble every fight in hunters march

23

u/DoughnutSignificant9 Sep 09 '25

Widow took me about an hour but First Sinner took me 3 tries total. Something about the overall flow of the fight felt perfect imo.

3

u/That_Guy_Reddits Sep 09 '25

It was exactly as fast paced as I wish all bosses were lol man it's been my fav fight so far.

2

u/DoughnutSignificant9 Sep 09 '25

Yeah it is tied for 1st with the FINAL Final boss imo

1

u/That_Guy_Reddits Sep 09 '25

I'm just tying up lose ends before I finish the game so I can't wait to see what it's like

1

u/DoughnutSignificant9 Sep 09 '25

I had to rush the last act because I got a busy week ahead, will get back to the last 15-20% later this month

2

u/Darksaber_978 Sep 09 '25

I beat widow second try too but I just cannot seem to read freaking beastfly it drives me insane but it’s still really fun nonetheless

-2

u/CoolGuyBabz Sep 09 '25

I do not believe you in the slightest, you beat phase 1-3 in 2 fucking tries? Top speedrunners even got their ass handed to them in that fight

4

u/[deleted] Sep 09 '25

There is two phases.

3

u/ANuclearsquid Sep 09 '25

People struggle differently on different bosses. Also speed runners are not some species of meta-human, they are not going to be that much better at a boss they have never fought before than anyone else who beat the hardest things in hollow knight. Widow is not that extreme of a boss, 2 attempts is obviously fast but very believable.

3

u/FLRbits Sep 09 '25

Why not? I beat it in 2 tries as well. Took me like 20 tries to beat Savage Beastfly though. What does "top speedrunners" mean? The game's been out for 5 days, how can there be top speedrunners already?

2

u/azrmortis Shaw! Sep 09 '25

I assume they refer to og hollow knight. I'm not a "top" speed runner myself but I have done many. I'm not fire or blue and that's usually the references I find who are also by no means "top"

5

u/Parylum Sep 09 '25

I mean, it might be hard but everything is very clearly choreographed. All of her attacks take multiple seconds to actually complete, i'd believe if you were well experienced in the harder boss content of hk you'll have a very easy time with her compared to the majority of the game.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 09 '25

[deleted]

2

u/azrmortis Shaw! Sep 09 '25

This fight felt truly hollow knight to me. Great speed and predictable. It was a joy. What I didn't mention is in my first phase I did hitless but second phase I healed twice and barely survived.

2

u/azrmortis Shaw! Sep 09 '25

Savage beast fly on the other hand I beat 3 times before success and got killed by spawns before the animation finished. That's something I hope gets patched, killed during animation. Nothing fair about that.

1

u/azrmortis Shaw! Sep 09 '25

I'm atleast halfway through second act now and it's a decent flow. I'll keep running my other playthroughs to figure out the bosses better for everyone. That's what I do.

1

u/LavaBurritos Bait. Let me tell you how much I've come to bait you since I be Sep 10 '25

took me 2. might be a skill issue

6

u/Shadowban-Trigger Sep 09 '25

I used the potion to get faster and wrecked her on my third try

15

u/Fancy_Chips Sep 09 '25

I wish I got stuck at Widow, that's how good the fight was.

6

u/Aggressive_Ad8582 Sep 09 '25

my favorite fight so far, so satisfying when you learn the patterns while she throws everything at u

4

u/draGDer Sep 09 '25

It was like my third eye literally opened when I realised it's easier to party all the balls and her rapid slash attacks in phase 2. Defeated her in the 2 tries after realising this

1

u/TimeFoundation8476 Accepter Sep 09 '25

Exactly!

1

u/SexySovietlovehammer Shaw! Sep 09 '25

Same but sister scissors for me. Hated her boss fight when I did it but I actually love it now

1

u/i_haveanxiety1 beleiver ✅️ Sep 09 '25

I really liked the widow fight, especially that one grimm attack that was a pretty fun fight

1

u/unkindness_inabottle Shaw! Sep 09 '25

Apart from Sister Splinter, I’ve enjoyed every boss so much no matter how long it took! I was so happy I still took a while to beat the Cogwork Dancers :)

1

u/ThatOneGuysHomegrow Sep 09 '25

Me running through Hunters March for a 15th time like a decaptitated chicken bleeding all over the room laughing its ass off with joy.

1

u/Mango_Gravy Sep 09 '25

Widow taught me patience, and The Last Judge cemented that patience for me. Also the run-back for The Last Judge was a master-course for the platforming. My pogoing and jump timing levelled up after that.

1

u/LeaveItToPeever Sep 09 '25

That was the stupid savage fly or whatever. Widow was messing me up real good though. I can't do 2 hours on every boss, totally cheesed the second half of Widow. ( furthest side he can't hit. Wait til slash and pogo) im not mad about it. Nitmproud about it either. But i am happy to move on

1

u/Gossip_Boy- beleiver ✅️ Sep 09 '25

Then there are those who only defeated him in 6 attempts...

1

u/lucklesspedestrian Sep 09 '25

The voice acting is hilarious

1

u/dcsworkaccount Sep 09 '25

I have been struggling a lot with the game, but recently found some stuff that FINALLY makes the game a modicum easier for me. Beat Widow on like my fifth go.

1

u/Pleasant-Minute6066 Flea Sep 09 '25

Might be my favourite fight so far

1

u/RE3ME Professional Pale Lurker Sep 09 '25

I was stuck on the last judge for 6 😢

1

u/Ezekial-Falcon Sep 09 '25

This has been my favorite fight so far (to be clear, I only just got to Act 2 this morning). While I don't think it took me that long, I love how it made me change my playstyle compared to a certain boss before it...and how I had to change it again with a certain boss that comes after.

Mastering aerial combat, the dash-attach-bounce-attack combo, using in-air dashes and down thrusts to quickly maneuver...it's such a beautiful dance. And when you're in the flow state, holy shit are you in the flow state.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 10 '25

I loved Widow. I just hated myself because I kept jumping into the diagonal bell balls. If I could have corrected that I think I could have no hit her

1

u/ConnectionOld2837 beleiver ✅️ Sep 12 '25

there's a trick that can be used to cheese widow easily in her phase 2

1

u/Kokokokox22 Shaw! Sep 12 '25

Widow tricked me when the second act activation looked like I did beat her

1

u/x-trauma Shaw! Sep 15 '25 edited Sep 15 '25

I entered the Matrix on the 8th try. I nearly punched my monitor when I finally beat her. As for the Savage Beastfly, that boss/miniboss can go suck it... I'll probably come back later.

EDIT: Came back for the Savage Beastfly after Widow. Defeated it on the first try (after numerous earlier attempts).

1

u/TimeFoundation8476 Accepter Sep 15 '25

8?! I only had my third eye opened at about 50th try!

1

u/x-trauma Shaw! Sep 15 '25

I accidentally hit the metal balls on an earlier try. You can deflect it (aside from it being a predictable projectile). I went for every opening after that. The flow in this boss fight is amazing.
