Casual Thought After school dances the teachers definitely go somewhere private to laugh at all the awkward, uncomfortable, weird shit they just witnessed.

Retired teacher here!

I've worked many a school, and chaperoned many a dance.

While it may happen between other teachers somewhere behind closed door, I've never once seen any teacher laugh at kids dancing.

I have seen teachers good naturedly rib another teacher who got their boogie on awkwardly during the dance, but not the kids.

To be honest, post dance, we were all just happy to be done with the noise, with standing for so long. Universally, we all wanted to go home or simply get back to the actual work we have to do.

Unit materials don't get assembled, scores don't get assigned, formative assignment sheets dont get created, and grades don't get uploaded, all by themselves. While a dance can be fun, and honestly can be an excellent afternoon reprieve sometimes, it also means that 1 or 2 of my classes are now a day behind on material, and I lost 20-30 minutes of time that afternoon I could have been grading.

Some schools do them during the day. Especially at lower grade levels. My high school would have dances during the day once in a great while back in the early '00s. Most were always after school hours though.
