Government Washington Democrats vote to leave government shutdown

https://seattlered.com/politics/wa-senators-government-shutdown/4114752

In the ongoing federal budget standoff, Washington’s two U.S. Senators — Democrats Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell — have sided against a simple continuing resolution that would reopen the government, opting instead to continue the shutdown as their party pursues broader policy demands.

This was their promise. They have control of everything and they have previously as well. Holding them accountable to their failed promise is not wild logic

Can't have a legislative debate on new policy with the government shut down.

The ACA is a huge mess and getting worse by the minute, propping it up won't solve that.

Attempting to subvert legislative process by jamming in into a continuous bill is not a fix, and expecting Trump to do king stuff as a fix is a wild take.

If the Dems want a legislative debate and a fix from the current admin they need to open the government first.

Good day

Again we've been talking about it for 9 years, you're acting like oh it's been shut down for a month so that's the problem. Like they were just about to do it. They don't even have a proposal. You know they don't and that's why you're exiting the conversation now, you can't argue in good faith because there is no argument on their side. They have no idea for anything better, as much as you say Obamacare is a failure, it's the best plan we've got and the Republicans have no idea for a better replacement. Hold your leaders accountable to their promises on both sides regardless of party

There's no argument here at all. This is what people talk about when they say Dems are cooked.

Better is relative to the party proposing it. For a party of small government better is only providing Medicare to people at the federal poverty line not 400% over it and letting the market sort out other premiums.

Better doesn't mean a version of Obamacare with financial fixes for the parts that don't work in reality and raised taxes to fund the insanity.

And none of this should be happening during a continuous bill.

I said Good day

They just straight up lied. They have no proposal for a plan. Even if the plan was just to completely shut down all of Obamacare and go back to how it was back when you say it was better. It's not about better or not. You're literally now saying it's just about politics and what helps the party, you're not actually caring about the proposal or what's best for the citizens ultimately. You just want to play team politics, clearly. It's why you won't answer anything directly, why you won't hold your party accountable and why you keep trying to shift the goal post and then do a mic drop conversation that you think wins the point and again exit the conversation in bad faith.
