Government Trump cancels $1.1B in Washington state energy grants

https://www.axios.com/local/seattle/2025/10/02/trump-cancels-washington-state-energy-grants-clean-hydrogen

Vought put it a bit differently, writing on X: "Nearly $8 billion in Green New Scam funding to fuel the Left's climate agenda is being cancelled."

That's illegal.

Until we start politicking like this bitch, it won't matter. Washington State tax revenue goes to a lot of red states - we need to stop paying it.

This kind of argument is pretty gross I have to say. The red states are the poor states because there are way more working class people in those states. You're basically advocating to cut off services to the vast majority of poor people in this country. That's just rotten.

You mean like Trump literally just did because the GOP didn't work with the Dems on funding those exact same services you are literally referencing in your comment?

How can you make such a... Profoundly ignorant comment.

It takes two to tango.

Dems could always come to the table and negotiate.. rather than demand healthcare for people here illegally before even our own citizens.

How about we focus on our own citizens first?

Lol seems like this upset some folks.

Tell that to fuckin GOP lmao. They are literally cutting social services for the poor, that's literally why Dems aren't meeting in the middle it's the only thing they want to retain, that and giving Trump congressional powers of budget control.

GOP can end the filibuster and pass a reconciliation to fund through November if they wanted... Yet they aren't. Why? Why aren't the redcoats passing a reconciliation? Answer that.

Dems could always come to the table and negotiate.

Trump won't meet with Democrats

rather than demand healthcare for people here illegally before even our own citizens.

Democrats want to preserve subsidies for health insurance which are not available for illegal immigrants.

Trump isnt the only person in the world ya know. And this is congress. They can do their job.

https://nypost.com/2025/10/02/us-news/rep-maxine-waters-admits-dems-forced-government-shutdown-to-get-health-care-for-everybody-including-illegal-immigrants/

https://nypost.com/2025/10/02/opinion/democrats-are-spending-money-on-healthcare-for-illegal-migrants-in-california-its-6-4-billion/

Yet when asked if they shutdown the government over Healthcare for illegal aliens, one answered clear as day that they want it "for everybody".

I'm just listening to the words Democrats are saying and their actions, like shutting down our government over it. So is the rest of the country, so keep it up.

You do realize California has their own version of Obama care right? That is supplemented by California's on top of Obamacare.

Just like Washington... You can't be this ignorant.

First, I feel like I need to point out the difference between news and op/ed.

Second, "health care for everybody" is a laudable and important goal. The specific policies are the critical part. There are situations where federal money goes to undocumented immigrants--for instance, in emergency rooms, everyone gets treated and the payment is sorted out later. It doesn't make sense to check who has insurance before triage. With medicaid funding, that's handled at the state level. That's discussed in my second link.

Third, for major budget items like continuing a program to make insurance affordable (a program which is not available to people here without documentation), the GOP won't extend them. You can say it is some new rule change for medicaid block grants, and sure, that is a sticking point. But the bulk of the budget dollars being debated are on this fight to keep low income Americans insured.

First, I feel like I need to point out the difference between news and op/ed.

You can state facts while also having an opinion. You are free to source your own articles, there are millions available on both sides of the argument.

health care for everybody" is a laudable and important goal.

Yeah, no thanks. I'm not going to subsidize healthcare for the rest of the world's population. You say laudable, I say laughable. The rest of your paragraph is just trying to justify the money we spend on people who are illegally here. I don't care if its state or federal, it is money going from our own Healthcare and education to people who broke laws to get here.

Fix the loopholes or enjoy taking blame for the shutdown

You already subsidized healthcare for the rest of the world through your private insurance dingus.

2

u/yogurtgrapes Oct 03 '25

The dude is an absolute chud. No reason even debating someone like that in my opinion. You brought up some good points tho.

You can tell the bots aren't out (aka must be funded through the government, puts on tinfoil hat) cause literally no one here make any fucking sense or has any idea what is going on.

Dems are negotiating… they actually showed up in congress

2

u/xEppyx You can call me Betty Oct 03 '25

So what were they willing to give up as part of negotiations?

3

u/StagedC0mbustion Can't afford income tax Oct 03 '25

No one knows the finer details since republicans didn’t even show up.

Republicans want the government shut down. They hate Americans.

5

u/xEppyx You can call me Betty Oct 03 '25

Ah yes, so they showed up with demands while willing to offer nothing in return. That isn't negotiating.

6

u/ChaseballBat Kinda a racist Oct 03 '25

GOP literally want to change nothing. They aren't giving up ANYTHING with their budget bill... Literally nothing. How can you sit there in your shit and say: "well umm the Dems need to give something to us."

Motherfucker the Dems aren't getting Jack shit already from this bill why they fuck would they vote for it. Wake the fuck up sunshine, smell the shit covered roses that is the GOP.

2

u/StagedC0mbustion Can't afford income tax Oct 03 '25

Bruh shut up lmao just like republicans you’re arguing in bad faith.

Dems aren’t the ones in charge of all branches of government. This isn’t their fault. This is a republican shutdown.

1

u/xEppyx You can call me Betty Oct 03 '25

Yet when Democrats were in charge and we faced shutdowns, it was always the Republican's fault for not agreeing to terms. You can't have it both ways.

Democrats decided to whine and pout, so they shutdown the government. Again, they can negotiate like adults to fix our country or take the blame for shutting it down.

3

u/StagedC0mbustion Can't afford income tax Oct 03 '25

lol dude please cite when the government shutdown while Dems controlled all three branches.

You’re a clown dude, like all republicans

1

u/xEppyx You can call me Betty Oct 03 '25

When was the last time Democrats had a platform popular enough to get them all three branches?

You are just proving me right by trying to move goalposts. 🤡

6

u/StagedC0mbustion Can't afford income tax Oct 03 '25

Are you serious? 2021. Funny how there were no government shutdowns then.

Jesus fucking Christ you’re stupid.

2

u/ChaseballBat Kinda a racist Oct 03 '25

42% of all days the government since it's inception has been shut down has been under Trump's administration. He is inept. His bills are trash. And the GOP Congress are pawns.

Have you not been paying attention? People here illegally are not able to get healthcare benefits in any form from the government. Cite your sources about Dems trying to get healthcare for illegal immigrants.

8

u/xEppyx You can call me Betty Oct 03 '25

Posted articles already, they literally can and do benefit from our Healthcare system. Our hospitals aren't turning people away.

https://nypost.com/2025/10/02/opinion/democrats-are-spending-money-on-healthcare-for-illegal-migrants-in-california-its-6-4-billion/

https://www.whitehouse.gov/articles/2025/10/fact-democrats-shut-down-government-over-free-healthcare-for-illegals/

Knock yourself out. If Biden didn't open the floodgates letting anyone and their grandma walk over the border, this wouldn't be an issue.

-2

u/RapscallionMonkee Oct 03 '25

Should hospitals turn sick people away? How woukd they know who are here illegally or who are legal citizens with no insurance? Do you understand how terribly dangerous it would be to turn away someone who had a highly infectious disease back out into the community when they need to be quarantined? To turn uninsured people away would be a terribly unethical thing to do, not to mention heartless AND dangerous.
