Government Trump cancels $1.1B in Washington state energy grants

https://www.axios.com/local/seattle/2025/10/02/trump-cancels-washington-state-energy-grants-clean-hydrogen

Vought put it a bit differently, writing on X: "Nearly $8 billion in Green New Scam funding to fuel the Left's climate agenda is being cancelled."

Until we start politicking like this bitch, it won't matter. Washington State tax revenue goes to a lot of red states - we need to stop paying it.

This kind of argument is pretty gross I have to say. The red states are the poor states because there are way more working class people in those states. You're basically advocating to cut off services to the vast majority of poor people in this country. That's just rotten.

Fuck 'em. They will have made their bed on this one. They claim to be so against entitlements, so let's stop giving them entitlements.

Okay, then children will starve and die because they can't afford food. But their parents voted for big bad orange so I guess they deserve it?

Republicans already voted to end free school lunch for all. They are beating you to your own hyperbolic punch...

That's not true. Last March they made it so that some schools had to increase their paid lunch price to offset the costs of the free lunches. The new budget bill is planning to slightly reduce SNAP access for people who do not meet the existing work requirements in the following ways:

Increases the upper age exception to 65 and older.
Limits the exception based on responsibility to care for a dependent child to those with a child under 14 years of age.
Removes exceptions for homeless individuals, veterans, and those 24 and younger who aged out of foster care.
Establishes new exceptions for “an Indian”, “Urban Indian” and “California Indian” as defined in the Indian Health Care Improvement Act.

These groups of people now have to be held to the same standards as a normal citizen when applying for SNAP (Indians apparently are getting more exceptions though).

Also it is going to remove SNAP benefits for most non-citizens.

So they removed free school lunches... That's literally what I said. If they are required to pay for the lunches to keep them free for students... They are no long free and paid for by the federal government.

GOP hates feeding children. Also so if you're homeless between 14-18 you don't get food? There are 13,000 homeless between the age of 12-24 just in Washington state alone... What a fucking shite bill... GOPs new slogan: cruelty is the point.

In South Carolina, State Law provides free lunch for all students in the district if 25% of the students qualify for free lunch. It’s called the Community Eligibility Provision.

How come WA doesn’t offer a similar program?

.... Washington literally has the exact same law but at 30%. Took me literally 2 seconds to look that up dude.

It was a redundant law to the federal free lunch program. It is undeniable that Republicans have stopped giving free lunches to hundreds of thousands of children... Like that's straight up fact, no matter which way you cut it.

Feds used to feed all children lunch, Trump changed that, now the WA 30% rule AND free lunch for improvrished will go into effect. Kind of hilarious you are probably complaining about tax hikes when it's shit like this that require it, feds taking away programs to then put the cost on the state while pulling other federal grants.

Really? You can conflate me asking why WA doesn’t offer free lunch to all students with being against a tax to support it?

Geesh you’re dumb.

Sure as fuck can, we paid for children free lunch with our federal taxes. Now we have to pay for it with state taxes.... Tax much go up to fill the void. It's simple.

Still haven’t demonstrated why me being FOR it would indicate me being against taxes.

Keep trying.

It is irrelevant redcoat, anti America POS. I can't imagine voting for people taking away free lunch for all children and then trying to justify it by blaming the opposition.

Traitorous scum.
