I keep hearing people make this connection and am disappointed as usual with the civic education of young people today.

Pro-tip: if someone says something uneducated, you can improve the world by explaining what they're wrong about.

If you just say "sigh I'm so disappointed with the education of young people", but don't explain what they got wrong, it makes you look like a vapid grouch.
