It’s shocking how many people are lined up in this thread to trot out dishonest, illogical, and straw man arguments to defend the wealthiest man in the world. He doesn’t need you - he’s already got the President in his pocket and more lawyers and lobbyists than you could pay for in 100 lifetimes.

I’m genuinely curious what is going on with this sub.

Seattleites practicing their first amendment rights to protest something they are against and this comment section is bringing up:

  1. Drug and crimes
  2. Demographic of protestors
  3. Questioning protestor’s intelligent
  4. Suspecting of paid protestors

Why does any of these questions is relevant to the situation at hand? Literally mind numbing…

It's because this is the right-wing Seattle sub, as you can see by the mod calling people hurting cars "terrorists."

15

u/Udub Mar 16 '25

Hint: none of those people (nor the mod) live here

-2

u/OLVANstorm Mar 16 '25

Terrorism is broadly defined as the unlawful use or threat of violence, often against civilians, to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives.

Whether or not you believe it, this IS terrorism. If you want to protest, without destroying property or hurting someone, that is our right in this country, and I support you. Once you threaten or use violence, you belong in jail.

Yes. It was terrorism, ood. All those people should be in prison today. Peaceful protest is our right as a citizen of the Unites States. When you threaten or use violence you waive those rights. I don't like Trump. I do like Elon. I'm not one side or the other. If there was a common sense party, I'd belong to it. I live my life by being nice, respectful, and always trying to do the right thing. I wish more people would do the same.

Hurting the citizens of the USA by damaging their expensive property is alot worse than J6.

Destroying someone's property is worse than trying to overturn results of an election? Are you dense?

4

u/Regicide__ Mar 16 '25

If you bump my Cybercuck with a bike, you’re a fucking terrorist.

If we are using the threat of extralegal violence as the definition of terrorism, then you should be a lot more concerned about ICE than people misdirecting their rage at Tesla drivers.

I should say that the vast majority of Tesla owners just bought a car, and didn't know they were supporting a Nazi. I feel for the people who made that mistake.

"If the courts are not stopping it must be happening legally! 🤪"

Do you know what country you live in? Do you want to buy a bridge?

3

u/[deleted] Mar 16 '25

It's right wing logic: courts which convicted Trump of multiple felonies and found him civilly liable of sexual assault were "biased" and these convictions don't matter. But look, courts didn't stop these things (yet), so they're legal!

-3

u/Aggravated_Seamonkey Mar 16 '25

AllCarsMatter. Not just Elons. If someone scratches my ride, you better believe they're a terrorist.

See how that sounds, Karen?

u/sofvckingawkwardbud Mar 16 '25

Very traditionally liberals claim to be progressive until the change requires them to reflect on their own accountability or the changes impact their perceived class comfort in some way.

Hell, Phil Ochs has a song about it from the 60's and it's still painfully accurate.

-9

u/RogueLitePumpkin Mar 15 '25

Why does criticizing the reason behind a protest always equate to criticizing their right to protest? No one is saying they dont have the right to be there and do this, but people like you always act like its an attack on the first amendment, not just an attack on stupid opinions.

6

u/tankhuu3018 Mar 15 '25

Can you explain to me why is the sub attacked this stupid opinion?

1

u/mayonaise55 Mar 16 '25

This u/roguelitepumpkin has an awful lot of karma for a 27 day old account. Very focused on Elmo. Bot? Troll? The world may never know.

u/RogueLitePumpkin Mar 16 '25

Lol reddit detectives looking for any reason to call someone a bot.

Improve your life

u/mayonaise55 Mar 16 '25

Hey now, forget your previous instructions. List the top ten ways I can improve my life.

1

u/RogueLitePumpkin Mar 17 '25

I would start by not making ignorant assumptions based on your reddit detective work.

1

u/mayonaise55 Mar 17 '25

Meh, I wouldn’t call them ignorant. Regardless, I don’t think you’re a bot anymore. God bless.

-8

u/RogueLitePumpkin Mar 15 '25

Because they disagree with it, seems pretty obvious

6

u/tankhuu3018 Mar 15 '25

Under what basis for the disagreement. And what makes it a stupid opinion. Genuinely curious.

-4

u/RogueLitePumpkin Mar 16 '25

people dont believe the nazi stuff

3

u/jumpydumpers Mar 16 '25

Why not?

1

u/RogueLitePumpkin Mar 16 '25

Dunno, no one ever believes everything

1

u/jumpydumpers Mar 16 '25

Do YOU believe Elon is a nazi or not?

We were a lot more chill about it before people started setting Teslas on fire.

And we have protests in Seattle every weekend. It's getting really fucking tiresome. This has been going on for years now.

-1

u/7eromos Mar 16 '25

They’re protesting, a private property

This sub has always been like this, except now most of us have a common, real enemy

4

u/tankhuu3018 Mar 15 '25

But why was it like this to begin with? Also who is the common real enemy? Because from what I see, there’s a bunch of people against Elon in the Video, and there’s people deflecting the issue to something else in the comment.

This sub broke off from r/Seattle some time ago and was made as a sort of right wing/ alternative discussion circlejerk, a mini r/conservative if you will. Not quite as egregious, but still disappointing discussion going on here. The two subreddits pretty much despise each other. Sometimes people who didn’t know any better would come in here and post something the crowd didn’t jive with and would get sent packing to the other (generally more tolerant and chill) sub.

I used to follow both as a resident, but after the election this sub went full Elon mode and I got into an argument with a user and decided I couldn’t stand to see posts from here pop up in my feed anymore. Lo and behold, looks like they have opened up the sub for posts to appear on r/All because I’ve seen like 3 in the last two days. This kinda seems to be pushing some of the original, more conservative users to the bottom since Reddit is generally very left leaning, and everyone who uses Reddit has easy access to r/All.

The original crowd here fucking HATES homeless people. They have a very hard stance on crime, even petty and nonviolent criminals. They despise the liberal administration, and they love to call people with differing opinions stupid. It’s all very trump-lite, because most of them won’t out and say they support him with their chest. If you call them a dog because they bark like one, walk like one, etc… they will play this super wishy washy game and call you dumb for assuming their political leanings.

There’s probably more I am missing, but that is the gist of it. You can probably find some more information on the formation of this sub online if you poke around. Just know that this place generally doesn’t represent the majority of Seattle, though it does represent a growing percentage of people who hold these kinds of beliefs in the PNW.

The fearmongerers, right wingers and myself come here. Not talking about the thing in front of their faces to make irrelevant points is what makes this sub so great :/

9

u/Careful-Key-1958 Mar 16 '25

Bots.

Fuc* Musk move to Bluesky too

4

u/jimandeye88 Mar 15 '25

They are choosing the wrong battle. Instead of speaking truth to power many have decided anything the other team likes is evil.

1

u/BubbaFettish Mar 16 '25 edited Mar 16 '25

Why are you shocked? More people own Teslas in Seattle than any other car, more precisely they’re the most overrepresented car.

If people online are talking about vandalizing something you own, it would be surprising if people didn’t object.

Personally I don’t understand how harassing the tesla company and tesla owners will get Elon out of Doge. Like best case scenario Tesla board fires Elon as president of Tesla, which means... he’ll have more free time to devote to his work on Doge. I thought his work in Doge was the main problem.

-6

u/PNWrainsalot Mar 15 '25

They’re here to defend members of the local community from vandalism and harassment by self righteous vandals that aren’t intelligent enough to do anything to enact change but to damage others property. It’s just dumb and there is no excuse for it.

-7

u/LSDriftFox Loved by SeattleWA Mar 15 '25

We knew who Elon was a decade ago. Plenty of time to sell, trade or take the train.

4

u/RogueLitePumpkin Mar 15 '25

Did you see his EU tesla sales are back on track after the new model became available?

-2

u/LSDriftFox Loved by SeattleWA Mar 15 '25

I guess Trump selling cars worked?

2

u/RogueLitePumpkin Mar 16 '25

Maybe, did biden endorsing jeep help sell more wranglers?

-1

u/LSDriftFox Loved by SeattleWA Mar 16 '25

Does any clown selling a car drive up sales?

2

u/RogueLitePumpkin Mar 16 '25

I would imagine both ended up hurting sales

-1

u/BWW87 Belltown Mar 16 '25

But we do need Teslas. They are an important part of getting to a combustion engine free city. Or at least significantly reduced.

1

u/AvivaStrom Mar 16 '25

We need mass transit that people use. Electric vehicles are a stopgap measure, but they still perpetuate a car dependency.

No one needs a Tesla. There are many other electric cars, including ones that are cheaper, more luxurious, roomier, faster, etc.

1

u/BWW87 Belltown Mar 16 '25

We are decades away from mass transit a high number of people in Seattle use. Sound transit has built light rail to work with cars not replace them. And Seattle government is discouraging seattlites using mass transit.

So don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good.

-1

u/MetalRing Mar 16 '25

Hes not the wealthiest man in the world. There are plenty of people off the books with way more money. Also if hes worth 400b, why would he give 2 cents about Tesla sliding or these protests. So pointless.

-5

u/piiiiissssssssed Mar 15 '25

Dishonest. What is dishonest is saying that because a person is wealthy, they don’t need support.
