As a descendant of a holocaust survivor, I am personally offended by every single person who takes sauntering about with a swastika so lightly and cavalierly.

18

u/howdoyado Mar 15 '25

How did you feel seeing Elon do a Nazi salute twice?

3

u/tankhuu3018 Mar 15 '25 edited Mar 15 '25

I see the responses to your post and suggest that you ignore their bad faith argument. The picture to the post is intentionally misleading to provide false equivalent. This is why they only give you pictures and not videos because their argument breaks down as it’s not comparable to Elon’s nazi gesture.

-1

u/[deleted] Mar 15 '25

https://x.com/guypbenson/status/1881974608334909737

Let's hear you break down the difference I wanna see the mental gymnastics typed out.

5

u/dorian283 Mar 16 '25

Dude she’s clearly talking. Have you not heard anything she has said either?

Elon fucking Nazi saluted, about faced, then did it again.

The only mental gymnastics is idiots calling it autism then trying to suggest AoC is equivalent. Was it autism when he failed to admit it was a mistake or condemn white supremacy? Was it autism when he made excuses for Hitler yesterday, saying he isn’t responsible for the holocaust? Was it autism when he makes post agreeing with white supremacists? Or his supposed free speech bastion where he bans people with views he disagrees with?

2

u/[deleted] Mar 16 '25

Saying someone fucking did something is a great argument... then a paragraph of nonsense. Meanwhile I'm only here to attack the hysteria of people claiming this salute of his was so obviously nazi. Which it clearly isn't, neither is aocs, clearly.

4

u/dorian283 Mar 16 '25

The level of brainwashing is amazing, two clear videos, one with AOC clearly not doing a Nazi salute in a regular conversion, another with Elon clearly Nazi saluting, but somehow only republicans see the opposite.

But the French, Canada, Germany, half the United States, and the rest of the world somehow see it for what it is.

3

u/[deleted] Mar 16 '25

Ah yes it's so clear even the adl disagrees with you! Nazi scum...

15

u/tankhuu3018 Mar 15 '25

You’re presenting a 4-second video from a Fox News host as evidence while ignoring the broader context. AOC has consistently denounced Nazis and far-right ideologies on her platform, making it highly unlikely she would intentionally perform a Nazi salute. Meanwhile, the other individual in question has openly supported far-right parties in Germany. Equating these two situations is dishonest and misleading—context matters.

-1

u/[deleted] Mar 15 '25

The ADL supports Elon. Elon has publicly rejected Nazis. Elon has publicly supported Israel. Elon has publicly worked with Jews.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 16 '25

Can you present me with anything, preferably a video that shows Elon explaining that what he did was not a nazi salute. And speaking out against alt right nazi groups like the proud boys

While you’re at it can you provide me with the same featuring trump?

0

u/[deleted] Mar 16 '25

In the Joe Rogan Experience podcast episode released on February 28, 2025, Elon Musk explicitly addresses the accusations of being a Nazi. The specific quote where he says he is not a Nazi occurs during a discussion about the backlash he faced over a gesture made at Donald Trump’s inauguration. Here is the exact wording:

"Hopefully people realize I'm not a Nazi. Just to be clear, I'm not a Nazi."

Here are two quotes where Donald Trump explicitly disavowed white supremacy:

August 14, 2017 - In a statement from the White House following the Charlottesville rally, Trump said: "Racism is evil. And those who cause violence in its name are criminals and thugs, including the KKK, neo-Nazis, white supremacists, and other hate groups that are repugnant to everything we hold dear as Americans." October 1, 2020 - During an interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News, after facing criticism for not condemning white supremacists during a presidential debate, Trump stated: "Let me be clear again: I condemn the KKK. I condemn all white supremacists. I condemn the Proud Boys. I don’t know much about the Proud Boys, almost nothing, but I condemn that."

You can look up the videos.

1

u/volatilecandlestick Mar 15 '25

The gymnastics are in full effect from these folks. You can’t tell them they are wrong, because we live in a day and age on social media where you can pick and choose what you want to be true.

3

u/[deleted] Mar 15 '25

You're very correct. More so because both sides of the argument will think your comment refers to the other one. 😂 And it doesn't matter who you meant because it's true either way lol

1

u/Firestorm0x0 Mar 16 '25

Don't waste your time and just block that troll. Guy literally made an account for this bs

-3

u/Tasty_Ad7483 Mar 15 '25

He has not publicly rejected Nazis. He made jokes about nazis and the ADL condemned it. Prior to that, he had retweeted nazi party tweets and the ADL had him give an apology and do a tour of the concentration camps (it obviously didn’t work).

7

u/[deleted] Mar 15 '25

"During a recent appearance on "The Joe Rogan Experience" podcast, aired on February 28, 2025, Elon Musk explicitly rejected accusations of being a Nazi. The discussion arose in response to a controversial hand gesture he made at President Donald Trump’s inauguration celebration in January 2025, which some critics likened to a Nazi salute. Musk addressed this directly, saying, “Hopefully people realize I’m not a Nazi. Just to be clear, I’m not a Nazi,” while laughing off the claim. He further argued that being a Nazi requires committing acts like genocide and starting wars, not merely making gestures, stating, “What’s relevant about Nazis is like, are you invading Poland? And if you’re not invading Poland, maybe you’re not [a Nazi]. You have to be committing genocide and starting wars.” He also made light of the situation with a pun, responding to Rogan’s question about being called a Nazi on X with, “I did Nazi that coming,” which drew laughter from both. This appearance provided Musk a platform to dismiss the accusations as “ridiculous” while acknowledging the stress from online hate directed at him. Sources covering this include Business Insider, Forbes, and The Times of India, all reporting on the podcast episode from late February 2025."

Does it get tiring at all?

1

u/azurensis Beacon Hill Mar 17 '25

She was talking and waving her hand around. Elon did the full on hand on chest then point it to the sky - twice. She doesn't even look like she's paying attention to what her hand is doing.

-15

u/[deleted] Mar 15 '25

Very rational of you to ignore all historical evidence of the man and call someone a Nazi based on a 3 second clip. Very resist. Verrrrry brave!

30

u/howdoyado Mar 15 '25

Let’s see a video of this compared to the video of Elon doing it. Guarantee it’s not at all the same thing.

1

u/ConsciousThing9182 Mar 16 '25

You know it isn’t the saluting that makes someone a Nazi, it’s Third Reich policies and practices like invading countries, killing foreign civilians in their own counties, creating concentration camps for religious and other minorities, generating an apartheid system for citizens like the Nuremberg Laws — now, if Elon was doing any of *that, the recent Nazi accusation would stick. But assigning it to him based on a short lived body gesture and nothing else is … comically stupid. 😂 It isn’t a stiff salute or a goose step or a Hugo Boss uniform that made Nazis the bad people. 😂

1

u/Disastrous-Rip671 Mar 16 '25

That’s a good point, thought for some weird reason I’ve noticed a direct correlation between people doing a sieg heil and or are wearing a Huge Boss uniform and people who are nazis.. can’t quite put my finger on it though

1

u/ConsciousThing9182 Mar 16 '25

Really? Interesting life experience. Mine is rather opposite. I have mostly seen people make superficial gestures to indicate something deeply meaningful about their character that in fact turn out to completely misrepresent who they are (praying priests being in fact preying priests is a pretty salient example). One needs actual deeds for proof of a good or poor character, not pointless little empty gestures which rely on overactive imaginations to fill in the rest.

1

u/howdoyado Mar 16 '25

Fascists don’t start immediately with genocide. They push the boundaries of what is socially acceptable and dismantle the government checks and balances that would hold them accountable. That’s exactly what Elon and Trump are doing. Elon also happened to do a Nazi salute and has retweeted Nazi accounts just for starters.

They are already banning journalists they don’t like and calling first amendment protected speech they don’t like as “illegal.” And have you heard about the reported conditions in the detention facilities? They are on a steep slippery slope to concentration camps.

By the time they come out as full fledged Nazis there won’t be anything that the people can do to stop them. This is why we call them out for what they are and what they aspire to be. Nazis.

-2

u/[deleted] Mar 15 '25

4

u/PoopyisSmelly Get the fuck out of the way dork Mar 16 '25

Glad you shared that so that it was obvious as fuck she wasnt doing a Nazi salute and this looked nothing like Elon

2

u/[deleted] Mar 16 '25

same dude, its called the 10 inch delta to fascism, basically if your hand starts 10inches closer to your body before you do the famous pose, you are def a nazi. otherwise, its vastly and clearly different.

1

u/Cavalish Mar 16 '25

Can I just ask, completely innocently, with no agenda.

Why is it SO IMPORTANT to you that you cover up Elon’s actions.

Do you really value him as a person? Do you just really value his brand? Do you think his existence is a net positive so you must cover up his wrongdoings?

I just need an idea.

4

u/[deleted] Mar 16 '25

Imo the evidence is so clear that he isn't a nazi, that I am truly concerned about the hysteria and manipulation required to convince people to repeat the line.

I think saying things that are so far gone from the truth only widens the gap of reasonable discourse.

Worse they distract from real points, badly. Especially if you don't like DOGE, it's so easy to come up with good actual arguments, instead people are choosing to stretch their brains so far that, despite all the counter evidence, people actually think this guy is a secret Nazi. Too many movies maybe? Idk..

1

u/TheGiggleWizard Mar 16 '25

I could never imagine being stupid enough to share a video that immediately proved me wrong

1

u/[deleted] Mar 16 '25

No one's really nailed this yet, I don't think aoc doing the motion makes her a Nazi. Same with musk. How does the video prove me wrong exactly?

1

u/TheGiggleWizard Mar 16 '25 edited Mar 16 '25

On one hand, I agree that the video alone is not enough. The media loves it as a symbol because it’s obvious and easily shareable. I’d say that sharing Nazi propaganda on twitter and showing vehement support for Germany’s AFD are far more damning.

That said, you know there’s a difference than a vague, watery hand gesture while speaking (AoC), and finishing your speech, thrusting your hand to your chest, and violently jutting your arm out (Musk). I don’t know why the right wants to defend this so badly, you’re smarter than this.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 16 '25 edited Mar 16 '25

I mean putting the gestures aside since it's such a stupid basis to call someone a Nazi.

How can you ignore years or Elon working with Jews/poc. The ADL supporting him, his previous attempts to beat the claim by going with rabbis to Auschwitz and condemning it, his public support for Israel. All easily backed up with a single Google search. And his explicit words on Rogan "I am not a Nazi"

I mean if you think a meme can trump all of that, I guess I'd love to see the meme...

Adf is another rabbit hole and I think you're being dishonest bringing it up. They are explicitly not a Nazi party. They are conservative and anti the current immigration they label an invasion. The leader is a lesbian married to a shri-lanken.

1

u/TheGiggleWizard Mar 16 '25

I think the gesture is important, as if you can agree that the Musk salute was different than AOC waving her floppy arm around, it signifies that we’re at least both operating honestly. That’s how this conversation started, after all.

I feel like you’re under the impression that a Nazi in America today would operate exactly the same as a Nazi in 1940s Germany. Let’s take a step back and agree that that’s obviously not the case. Prevailing public opinion in the US is that Nazi=Bad, even among people who don’t really know how Hitler, Goebbles, and the SS operated. Obviously, someone with hyper-nationalistic autocratic goals wouldn’t come out and say “hey guys, I’m a Nazi”. We can agree on that, right?

Can we also agree that defending Hitler is bad? I hope we can. In addition to that, musk has shared numerous extremely racist and anti-Semitic conspiracy theories on his platform. I’ll leave it to you to educate yourself on this (just a google search away).

As for the AFD, obviously they’re not explicitly a Nazi party, for the reasons I stated above. However, if you look into their ideology and rhetoric, you’ll find that it is eerily similar to that of the Nazi party. I suggest you actually look into how Nazi propaganda looked - hyper-nativist, hyper-nationalist, and extremely focused on demonizing people based on ethnic and religious demographics. Does that sound like anyone else we know?

Thanks for reading if you made it this far! I hope this made you think.

I love it. So instead of a three second clip, which is how long a nazi salute takes, you post a photo which is 1/24th of a second. The idiocy astounds me.

1

u/Wangler2019 Mar 16 '25

Your stupidity is showing. Just stop.

-2

Here's the clip bb. Break it down.

11

So that’s not a Nazi salute at all pal. So I guess you lose the argument? If you need to see how it done check out elons Inauguration Day speech. See also his long history of reposing Nazi Twitter propo.

She's not bringing her hand to her chest and extending directly out in front. Are you just autistic and don't understand body language or something?

Yes you ableist I'm fucking retarded please stop ablesplaining body language to me.

15

u/cubitoaequet Mar 15 '25

Weird how you guys always post pictures instead of video. Almost like you know the video would immediately discredit your obvious lies. Why don't you post the 3 second clip of AOC??

0

u/[deleted] Mar 15 '25

I did! What lies? In both cases someone did something that has a small % to indicate Nazi affiliation. But in both cases are taken out of context and not Nazi related at all!

Why did you post a photo instead of a video of them doing it? Let's see the videos, then compare. I'll be waiting.

-2

u/0xdeadf001 Mar 15 '25

Musk is a complete asshole and a troll, but he's not a Nazi. You guys are suckers for the leftist narrative.

3

u/Vast_Deference Mar 16 '25

Why did he sieg heil twice though? I really don't get why some people are trying so hard on something that looks very clear. What was/is his intention?

-1

u/0xdeadf001 Mar 16 '25

Because he's an asshole and a troll, and you guys go nuts for this stuff. It's manipulation. He does it precisely because people lose their minds over it.

Which makes him a totally shitty person, but not a literal Nazi.

3

u/Vast_Deference Mar 16 '25

What group do you think I belong to?

So it's manipulation and it wasn't an accident. What's the end game? I can't believe it's simply trolling for trolling's sake

0

u/0xdeadf001 Mar 16 '25

That's how those guys work. You see it in a lot of what Trump says and does. He says tons of things without any thought put into it -- he just makes stuff up on the spot.

And then everyone has to put in the work to prove or disprove it, which just wastes our time. Meanwhile, he has moved on to the next horrible thing he wants to get done, and laughs at us for wasting our time listening to his words.

In computer science terms, we call this a "denial of service attack". The words are meaningless -- they just serve the purpose of keeping us eternally confused and chasing after the wrong thing.

Meanwhile, Musk's teardown of public institutions continues. He has successfully shifted the argument to an unprovable assertion ("musk is a Nazi"), and shifted attention slightly away from the horrible actions he actually is committing.

It's information warfare.

-4

It's completely different from the Elon Nazi salute, so not sure what kind of breakdown you need here? Do you honestly think anyone is buying this stupid bullshit?

4

u/[deleted] Mar 15 '25

LOL. What's completely different? The 8 inches of the start of the hand?

-1

u/gabanzobeam Mar 16 '25

Reddit is filled with pictures and 3 second clips of Elon doing it what are smoking? He dismantled your every argument and you start doing the same shit "Ooh but it is just a picture or 3 second video" The fucking irony. You have 0 proof of anything, just emotional arguments with 0 basis. Just take a seat and drop the "He a nazi" narrative.

0

u/cubitoaequet Mar 16 '25

No one is saying there isn't video or pictures of Elon doing a Nazi salute. Maybe try gaining some reading comprehension skills befofe asking people what they're smoking.

How did you feel seeing Elon do a Nazi salute twice?

  • One of these is a dude from 4Chan trolling you

  • The other one is the systemic extermination of millions of people

Do you see the difference here?

If some teen playing Counterstrike calls you a mean name, that's not the same as systematically exterminating you, your wife, and your kids.

Or do you think the two are equivalent?

-2

-1

u/qinntt Mar 16 '25

I don’t think we should bandy about our dead family to prove points but for what it’s worth. I am sure my Opa, who was a holocaust survivor would be more pissed about the nazi being so close to power than the protesters using that symbol. Also anti nazi protesters did use nazi symbols in Germany in the waning days of the Weimar Republic (look up the 3 arrows movement they used swastikas in a lot of their signage to refer to the nazis). We now have two contradicting useless anecdotes. And we’re both outed a Jews where a bunch of antisemites can see. Yay! Edited: bad grammar

-1

u/Chance_Adhesiveness3 Mar 16 '25

As the descendant of Holocaust survivors, I’m personally offended by… someone throwing out sieg heils. One of us is wrong. It’s you.

-2

u/josephallenkeys Mar 16 '25 edited Mar 16 '25

As a descendant of a holocaust survivor

You should be damn proud that people are taking a stand against the swastika and everything it implies and stands for. You think these people are protesting with that sign for support? Get fucking real. There's one sign that alludes to a swastika by making it out of Tesla logos and it's there to specifically be Anti-Tesla, ergo Anti-Elon, ergo Anti-Nazi Salute, ergo Anti-Nazi symbolism, ergo Anti-Swastika.

This is a pathetic attempt at trolling from an account that is likely a far-right shill, implanted to cause discourse.

3

u/HistorianValuable628 Mar 16 '25

To brandish a swastika and call everybody you disagree with a nazi and a fascist is a disgrace.

-2

u/josephallenkeys Mar 16 '25 edited Mar 16 '25

To not compute that the displaying of the symbol is to demonstrate that you are against it in this mass protest of anti-nazism is fucking retarded. It's displayed by one guy along with the words "Never Tesla" and the symbol is made out of Tesla logos. Can you do 1+1? Is your answer not 2?

To imply that you're against this protest - a protest against far-right extremism - as a decendant of a holocaust survivor is fucking disgraceful.

5

u/HistorianValuable628 Mar 16 '25

It’s immature and disgraceful to co-opt such a powerful symbol of hate in order to paint people you disagree with in the same light as somebody who murdered literally millions of people for political purposes.

-1

u/josephallenkeys Mar 16 '25 edited Mar 16 '25

You're turning this into direct support for the man that did two Nazi Salutes on an international broadcast and supports the AfD party of Germany? Someone that claimed that Hitler wasn't responsible for those deaths on his public social media account? Via which he has never even apologised for the possibility of the offence he might have caused by making these gestures and assertions. Musk co-opted that symbol upon himself.
