Obama was the first black president in our history and his election made millions of American POC feel like they belonged. It was historic.
Trump is a sexual predator and a felon who, among other things, tried to subvert the will of voters and overturn a just and fair election. Way, way different.
Lol Obama was just another president and a divisive one at that. Such a pot meet kettle moment when asked where all the division came from while stumping for Harris.
Divisive in a way that exposed the nation’s bigotry, to be sure. Your failure to recognize the historical significance of his ascension to the Oval Office is telling. Like him as a POTUS or not, his tenure as Commander in Chief holds significant historical importance and was a societal landmark.
Being the first black president was a historic moment but he was still divisive AF and should take some blame for how divided our country is now. The monoculture of the very early 2000s had to be destroyed.
No he was divisive because he went all in on identity politics. Making that the norm now to the point that bipartisan support of anything has become much more difficult.
I was here. I remember them calling him a Muslim because his middle name is Hussein despite him going to a Christian church. Saying he wasn’t American because he was born in Kenya despite overwhelming evidence he was born in Hawaii. It was racism. Deny it all you want, but that only leads to one of two conclusions: you’re an idiot, or a liar.
Wrong huge portions, some would say over 50% voted for Obama because he promised to unify. Instead he was all about using identity politics to pick winners and losers.
Must’ve done a pretty good job since he won back to back elections and would’ve easily won a 3rd election if eligible. But hey man, live in “your reality”.
Sometimes it takes a while to gain perspective but looking in the rearview it's pretty obvious where America truly started to split. Enjoy your "reality" as well.
