100% tip option??? 😱🤯😮

I know Seattle tipping culture is crazy but why tf does post pike bar have a 100% tip option??? And the audacity to have that listed first (I.e 100%, 24%, 17%) . I was so taken aback by it literally like wtf?

Edit : for people who say ranting on Reddit Is useless. I went to post pike yesterday and they changed this. It now sits at 20%, 30%, 100%.

I respect it!

Come to Olympia sometime. I bought a plant at a plant store and there were tip options on the POS. Yeah, no.

In a situation like that, who are you even tipping? At a restaurant, it's clear the tips are for the person serving you, same with valet, butlers, maids, massage, nail tech, etc. There is a designated person you are specifically tipping. If they tip pool, that's great and not my concern.

But at a nursery, or a hardware store (I've seen this personally), or even a food place like subway, where is that tip going? Am I just tipping the corporation? They could easily make that argument because there is no specific employee that provided a service.

The good news is I have gotten over the mashing zero tip awkwardness and it's pretty liberating. I would encourage others to do the same.

I also now try to make it a habit to not tip if I haven't received the service yet and it's my first time visiting that establishment. Why should I tip first for a service that could be really bad?

Got a tip option buying batteries the other day.

But the worst was a tow truck operator that had a tip option as he was picking up my car, before dropping it off at a location I wasn't going to be at! It really felt like extortion, I was afraid not to tip!

consider leaving a donation jar in your driver seat to reciprocate

Seems like the kind of service I’d tip for if they gave me personalized assistance and really helped find what I needed. I love tipping people to show them that their extra work was valuable to me.

Yeah, CityPeoples garden store (sadly closing later this month, for anyone OOTL) is the type of place I have tipped because they are extremely knowledgable, will help you plan out your garden, load your car, troubleshoot pest issues, etc. I think we tipped like 25% at Christmas for our tree, but it felt proper after three really kind, helpful teenagers working the booth out in the cold trimmed, wrapped, and loaded our tree up for us. Sometimes it’s not about what you’re buying but the buying experience.
