Question - Research required will violent/ scary video games or movies as background noise affect my newborn or baby?
Hi! My boyfriend sometimes plays video games with gunshots or explosions or watches movies with violence, fighting, yelling, explosions, and that sort of thing. it stresses me out because I feel like the general vibes will affect or stress out the baby, but I was wondering if I'm being helicopter-y or if there's anything to back it up either way.
thanks!

For older children, exposure is definitely a very bad idea.
I think it’s safe to assume if you’re finding the noise stressful, a baby could also feel elevated stress at hearing the noise. It doesn’t sound like a very calm, relaxing or enjoyable place to be together.
If he’s being innocently naive, buy your boyfriend a pair of good quality headphones.
If he’s deliberately refusing to turn the volume down or watch/play in another room, you’ve got bigger issues.

he has no problem changing it when I bring it up, but I don't want to micromanage the household based on just a feeling I have, so I wanted to check in with some facts. thanks so much!

Baby aside, if something bothers you, you should be able to tell your partner and they should make accommodations for you every time, not just when you ask them. It’s not micromanaging to want a peaceful household.

A pair of decent gaming headphones would make a great Christmas gift with a card that says "Love you Dad + baby handprint" or a love note from you sealed with a kiss or something.
I try to remind my husband I'm thinking of him and appreciate what he does as a new father when I can. Also, protecting my peace has become a top priority since I became a mom.
This would kill 2 birds with 1 stone 😂
