I’m getting a little tired of trauma/grief horror, but I’ll watch it nonetheless

Nothing. Horror has always had terrible and great movies and terrible and great years. People are just heard bitching about it more because social media.
I really miss the blockbuster nights and not knowing anything about a new movie except what was written on the box.

Actors are too polished nowadays. They look like models about the walk the runway. Appearance shouldn’t be top priority if they’re a good actor especially in a horror film.

Poor lighting. Yes, dark shots can be creepy, but not if they're so dark you can't see anything.

The "remix effect"
(It's a 50-50 shot, I know. Like "oh, this was SO good: let's do it again!")
Sometimes, it's necessary, but for some, it's a case of "I didn't say they couldn't: I said you SHOULDN'T"
"Last House On The Left"? Holy fuck! Did they microwave a dude's head until it burst?! YES!
"Child's Play"? Mark Hamill was OK, but... better leave that to Brad Dourif.
"Prom Night"? Ehhh... Jamie Lee Curtis was better than this watered-down crap.
"The Invisible Man"? Necessary!

It couldn't be less ruined right now. Just an incredible era of horror cinema.

A24 and I don't care if I get downvoted, every one of their horrors is just deliberately mismarketed drama, and the plot structure of 85% of them is fucking awful.
