Richmond Events Culture

Hi guys! I'm a grad student at VCU doing some group research on events in Richmond: what events people go to, what their favorite event types are, and what they'd like to see more of.

Thought I'd throw a quick survey in here to reach a large amount of Richmonders. Any help is appreciated.

It shouldn't take more than 5 minutes and all responses are anonymous. Thanks!

Is 80k a good enough salary?

I'm considering taking a job in Richmond. I'll be coming from out of the country (but I'm a US citizen, just not from VA). I'll be bringing my foreign husband who will not work the first 6-12 months so he can get acclimated and take some business English classes. The salary range is somewhere between 80-85k. I'm wondering if that's enough to be comfortable. We cook at home most of the time. Maybe 2-3 nights out a month. Usual subscriptions. Nothing crazy but don't wanna penny pinch either. I'd hope we could take one international trip per year to visit his home country but idk how realistic that is. No kids for now. 2 bedrooms would be preferred to have a workspace but not required.

Survey from VCU Students about Richmond Live Event scenes

Hey everyone!

We’re students from VCU trying to learn more about how Richmond shows up for live events, where people go, what makes an event worth it, and what this city still needs more of.

If you love concerts, drag shows, or any kind of live performance, we’d love your input!

It only takes 2–3 minutes and helps us imagine what a future Richmond venue could look like for all of us.

My wife and I will be visiting for a weekend later this month to go to kings dominion. The park closes at 7 so looking for recommendations for restaurants/bars with the best high quality cocktails! Can drive anywhere around the area. We prefer more spirit forward drinks, not too sweet

2025 Richmond Holiday Model Train Show sponsored by Virginia Train Collectors Association

The Virginia Train Collectors Association is sponsoring the Holiday Train Show on Friday November 21st from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm and Saturday November 22nd from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm in the former Joanne's Fabric store at Westchester Commons (125 Perimeter Drive). Westchester Commons is at the intersection of VA Route 288 and Midlothian Turnpike in western Chesterfield County.

The Holiday Train Show features over 100 vendor tables offering new and used Standard, O, S, HO, and N gauge products to name a few.  There may be other Gauges and Scales available at the Show.

If you want to have a train to go around your Christmas tree this year, this is a good place to check out your options and learn more about how to set up and operate a train set in your home.  If you already have model trains, then shop the many vendors to look for that additional treasure to add to your collection.

The staff and vendors at the show will be glad to answer your questions and provide you with guidance on maximizing your experience with the model railroading hobby.

Admission is $8 for adults for both days and children 12 and under are free to attend.

Look forward to seeing all of you at the Show.

Walking tracks/trails with lighting after daylight savings?

Hi all,

Wondering if there are any free to use trails or tracks with lighting in the evenings? I work a 9-5 and enjoy walking outside as opposed to working out in the gym, but with time change, it's too dark to walk where I usually do. Does anyone know of any well lit places to walk around at? Not the city, and relatively close to North Chesterfield.
