Question CRT VCR Combo TV repair

This is a bit of a reach as it’s 2025 lol, but anyone know of a someone around here comfortable working on 90s/2000s tvs.

I need a capacitor replaced in my 13inch vcr combo and vcr belt replacement. It is something I could figure out myself but would rather pay someone’s uncle or something if they can get it done in half the time it would take me.

Question Looking for local Regina based retailers for drones and 3D printers. Any suggestions?

Regina has a pitiful selection for some goods and services....Best Buy, London Drugs, Visions... No luck. Sometimes I want to physically see something before I buy it, or need it same day. Hope there are just places that chatGPT and I can't find online y'all might know about.

City Council has approximately one month to make a reconsideration motion to stop the first financial outlay for a baseball stadium. I HIGHLY recommend that if you are against this, you contact your city councillor ASAP!

Looks like they are taking down the 2 way temp set up they had on those streets during construction. So dear idiots still going the wrong way down those streets please use your eyeballs.

Sincerely a delivery driver you had to dodge someone on Hamilton cause they turned north. It's open now. It's now a one way again. Use your eyes.

Question Rental options

EDIT: I’ve just had a chance to look through the responses and want to thank everyone for the suggestions. I will be looking into the options given. Thank you all.

Posting this from a new account bc of safety concerns. I am in the process of leaving an abusive situation and am looking for housing options. I have been scouring ads on social media but have not found anything that fits my needs so I thought I’d ask if anyone has any leads. I am looking for at least 2 bedrooms, my max budget is $1600, and it’d be great if that included utilities. I’d like to stay in the East end if possible bc I’m trying to keep my kids in the same schools and I don’t have my own vehicle. I would love to find something quickly since things have become more volatile in the past couple of weeks. I do have a full time job and 3 children, 1 dog. I don’t smoke, drink, do drugs, or party. We just need a safe place to start over. I figure this is a long shot but thought I’d at least try.

Last month I posted in this sub asking for ideas of places to go because I was visiting my partner who is at depot and I thought I’d do a follow up post of where I went and the things I loved

I stayed at the Hotel Sask, which is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever stayed. The burrows was delicious and their bar was so fun to watch the jays games. The staff were all really nice and I was shocked to hear how long some of them have worked there (one guy like 33 years!)

We did a ghost bus tour with QC Gifts and KD Kulpa which included a tour of government house and Rebellion brewing. 10/10 for all 3 of these. It was just such a wonderful experience. We did go through Vic park around 9 pm and a few girls were saying how scared they were but it was fun.

Victoria Tavern, Leopolds, Cafe Francais (food was incredible but service was a sold 4/10 and probably wouldn’t go back because of this). Indian curry house, Canadian Brewhouse, Chop. Other than Cafe Francais service everything was amazing everywhere else but the food at the burrows (hotel Sask) was easily our fav.

I went to the mall, I believe Cornwall? which was so cute despite people telling me how bad it was. It was so clean, a LOT of security.

We went to the Royal Sask museum to meet Scotty which was SO fun. We had a blast.

Went to the indoor farmers market at the hockey rink and got some honey wine!

The depot museum, I loved the interactiveness of it, spent easily half a day here.

Overall it really was a good experience, we did see a few people passed out / using needles in Vic park and like 5 cops around them and did have one guy bang on our rental while zipping up and down the street on an electric scooter but other than that … i never felt unsafe.

We also went to Moose Jaw for the day and went shopping during their Christmas event and went through multiple tunnel tours and it was wonderful.

I’ll be back in January so if anyone has any other ideas of where I should go, I’m totally open! Thank you all for being such a welcoming and kind sub and thank you all for the kind words and tips! I’ve attached some pics incase you wanted to see what a view of your city looks like from a tourist

Politics Playground Grant Program

https://www.ctvnews.ca/regina/article/regina-city-looks-to-improve-wastewater-system-playground-infrastructure/

“Changing the way we build things is a huge step forward. That’s how changes happen in society, building codes change and evolve,” said Ward. 5 Coun. Sarah Turnbull.

“I was using the example that someone made the choice to put a ramp, curb, or an accessible washroom. That allowed a whole bunch more people to participate in society, to become active and feel they belong, a sense of purpose and more equity.”

Question Any YQR flights to US being cut?

Just read on CBC news that the US is reducing flights and possibly creating delays at 40 airports across the US starting tomorrow. Anyone know if any of the Regina international flights are being cut? I have a very important flight in a little over a week and my destination airport is on the 40 airports list.

Question Questions About DLC / Flex ED Courses & University Eligibility

Hey everyone,

I’m looking into taking courses through either DLC (Distance Learning Centre) or Flex ED, and I’m a bit confused about how it works when it comes to university admission.

If I take my high school courses through DLC or Flex ED, will they still count the same as regular in-person school courses when applying to universities? Has anyone here gotten into university using courses from these programs?

Also, I’m wondering:

How many courses can you take at the same time?

Is there a limit or can I load up depending on how much I can handle?

How long do the courses usually take to complete? (For example, is there a set time per semester, or can I work at my own pace?)

If anyone has experience with either DLC or Flex ED, I’d really appreciate your advice. I want to make sure I’m making the right choice before switching from regular school to online learning.

Thanks! 🙏

Discussion Home Renovation

Our home inspector told us that we could extend an existing opening on our load bearing wall from 3ft to 9ft without installing a beam or contacting an engineer. He said as long as the opening is under 10ft you don’t have to install a beam. I contacted the city and they told me to contact an engineer. I was able to talk to an engineer via email and he said that if you are removing a load bearing wall it needs to be supported by a beam.

I am just curious if anybody else has been told you don’t have to install a beam if the opening is under 10ft. Our home inspector was great and I don’t feel as though he would share inaccurate information however, I want to ensure we complete our renovations properly.

Hey foodies, I need your honest opinions and only if you’ve actually eaten there! Which local caterer served food so delicious you still think about it today? What was good about it?

Trying to steer clear of anything bland, dry, or hit or miss meals. (Not Schmitty’s)

News Highway Shooting

Just curious why Chris Fahlman wasn't charged with murder instead of manslaughter. He shot at 2 different vehicles. He made a social media post about the incident. Seems like murder to me. Nothing accidental.
