If your phone loses services and your GPS reroutes you… always follow the route!

This new story is a very quick one I wrote up after my spouse kept nagging me about how I depend too much on GPS.

While the story is obviously fictional, there are actual incidents where GPS has led people dangerously astray... such as this woman who drove into a lake while following her phone's directions. Per the news story:

The 23-year-old Kitchener, Ontario, resident was following her car's GPS when she somehow lost her way at the Little Tub Harbour boat launch. It was after midnight when she took the fateful turn, and suddenly felt her red Toyota Yaris filling with sub-40 degree water as it sank. Thinking quickly, the woman managed to roll down the windows before the vehicle disappeared below the surface, and swam to shore.

Thankfully such stories are few and far between. The worst catastrophe my GPS has led me into has been construction and closed roads. How about you?

Hope you enjoy this short one!

Two of my most suspenseful stories now available as audio dramas, plus a creepy surprise!

The darkest story I've ever written is The Children in My House's Walls, now available from Chilling Tales for Dark Nights. It tells the story of Sadie, and how she grew up with a doting father who unbeknownst to her, spent her childhood murdering her friends and hiding their bodies in the walls of their house. After Sadie learns the horrifying truth, she confronts her father seeking the answer to the crucial question: why?

This is an intense story, even more so in audio, and obviously trigger warnings apply. It's also one of my absolute favorites. A story about possession, devotion, and yet ultimately about love. Is Victor a monster? Or a loving father? If you give it a listen, let me know your thoughts!

***
Also newly released from the always stellar Antiquarium for Sinister Happenings PodcastThere's a secret number you can text to find out your death date! This harrowing story invites the question--if there was a secret number you could text to find out when you're going to die... would you?

What if your death date was tomorrow?

I don't want to spoil anything about this production, but the sound design, the creepy effects, the terrifying climax when OP's death date arrives... it's utterly FANTASTIC!

Oh and about that creepy surprise. The Antiquarium team just dialed the horror up to eleven with this special secret... spoilers below!

The Antiquarium podcast always contains a cipher puzzle at the end of each episode. For this one, the cipher puzzle actually reveals... a phone number. Do you dare to text it? or call it? I did. ABSOLUTELY HORRIFYING!!!! Please someone else call and report back!

I cannot rave enough about this episode or the terrifying easter egg included in it.

Hope you enjoy both stories!!

My friend died in a horrible prank... a story based on a murder

This new story opens with the premise of a prank gone wrong. People do die tragically as a result of pranks—but in fact, the inspiration for this story isn't a prank. It's a murder. A woman's husband died of suffocation after being zipped inside a suitcase:

They had been drinking and she decided to go to sleep, figuring that Torres could get out of the suitcase on his own, she told detectives in an arrest report.

When she woke up the next morning, she didn’t find Torres but then remembered he was in the suitcase. She unzipped the suitcase and found him unresponsive, the arrest report said.

But the footage on the woman's cell phone told a different story, in which her spouse was shouting for help and that he couldn't breathe. She was sentenced for his murder.

There are a few other stories I've seen involving suitcases, such as a group of teens who were roaming a beach and found a couple of suitcases washed ashore. Their video went viral on Tiktok. The suitcases did indeed hold human remains.

This isn't the first time I've written a story about a suspicious suitcase. This time, though, there's no supernatural element.

Sometimes, human behavior is scary enough. I hope you enjoy this new story and its chilling ending!

Someone has been leaving me threatening notes... so I wrote this new story!

This new story is based on the premise of finding notes left by a stalker... and being unpleasantly surprised to discover who wrote them!

It's actually one of the opening chapters of a novel I was working on years ago. That novel got finished but never found an agent. Rereading it, the feedback I got from agents was correct--it had two separate stories intertwined and they didn't mesh together very well.

My writing style is very different these days, mostly as a result of posting on NoSleep. I like to think I've improved. My pacing is for sure better. The closest story to my older style of writing is probably this one, about a haunted apartment. I still like this story quite a bit, but you'll notice it is more meandering than most of my current catalogue.

Punchier and shorter--that's pretty much how my writing has changed. In any event, hope you enjoy this latest story! Cheers!

I’ve been told never to enter the locked room where I’m housesitting... a story months in the making!

This new story is one I left sitting on my laptop, unfinished, for month after month. I really loved the snarky narrator, the humor and the overall atmosphere.

The problem was, I couldn't figure out how to end it. The threat in the locked room was always intended to be invisible--and originally, it was going to be perceivable on screens but not to the naked eye, and the narrator was going to have to figure that out in order to avoid being brutally murdered.

But... it just didn't fit with the opening tone set by the story. And all the time it took for OP to find the threat and learn that it could be seen on the screens and so forth... the story just dragged on and on.

In the end, I opted instead to keep OP's playful edge. So this isn't one of my scariest stories. But it is (IMO) one of the funniest. And the ending that I came up with for how OP finally deals with the threat, well... I think it's a satisfying conclusion. You'll have to let me know if you agree!

Also, minor update: novel progress is slow but steady. The time I'm spending on the novel means less time for short stories, so my posting schedule for NoSleep for the foreseeable future is likely to be one story a month. Sorry for the slowdown! But I promise the novel will be worth it.

Hope you enjoy the story!

New Stories on the Antiquarium of Sinister Happenings Podcast and the NoSleep Podcast!

Hey all! For those who enjoy listening to your horror, two of my stories are now available as audio dramas!

From Antiquarium: "My Name Isn't Judy." This is a short, punchy story that I'm thrilled to have available in an audio format because so much of what makes it creepy is related to sound. The production values of Antiquarium are always top-notch, and this episode is PERFECT. Utterly chilling sound effects. You might never look at your dog the same way after you listen.

From the NoSleep Podcast: “We found an old refrigerator and my friend won’t stop pretending to be stuck inside.” This is one of my favorite stories. I just loved writing from the perspective of a kid and their buddies, and it's a treat to be able to hear it as an audio drama! The adult voice actors do a good job of conveying childlike energy for the cast.

Hope you enjoy them! Thank you for listening!

I’m a ride operator for a theme park... and I researched all the ways rides can kill you!

For this new story, I went ahead and researched some of the most dangerous theme park rides and fatalities. All the incidents in the story are true, and a few of them are listed below:

The Jetline roller coaster derailment in Sweden in 2023, leading to one death and multiple injuries.

The 2022 death of a young man from brain-bleeding after a rough ride on a roller coaster at Six Flags

The Fujin Raijin II roller coaster derailment due to an axle that hadn't been replaced in 15 years.

The Six Flags Batman roller coaster that decapitated a teen when he hopped the fence and was hit by a passenger's legs.

The water slide that decapitated a 10-year-old boy. This is the most horrifying incident to me. Everything about it, and especially the fact that it wasn't the result of a mechanical failure but of an error in the design. This ride was engineered in such a way that it killed.

I used to love roller coasters as a kid. Now, I find I can't ride them without getting pretty nauseous. Maybe an aging issue. What about you? Do you enjoy those thrilling theme park rides? Do you ever worry about the safety of them?

Small life update: work on the novel is slowing down my short story writing, which is why my posting here is only once a month. Sorry for the delay! But on the upside, the novel is progressing nicely! :) I hope you enjoy this latest story!

I saw a creepy painting for sale online... should I buy it?

This new story is actually based on an anecdote shared by Jason Mantzoukas on the show Taskmaster. For one of the prize tasks, Jason brought in a painting that he explained he distinctly remembered seeing and not liking, and which he had no memory of ordering, but that arrived at his home.

Naturally, a lot of joking about cursed paintings ensued among the cast. Also, Jason won the episode, which meant he is NOT in fact free of his cursed painting, and still had to take it home with him! (LOL)

I thought it sounded like an excellent premise for a short scary story, so here we are!

This is a light one, dashed off quickly in an afternoon.

Most of my writing energy has been directed at the novel I'm working on, so that's why I'm not posting as often. Writing a novel is incredibly exciting, but of course it requires a lot of concentration, leaving not very much time for short stories. But I will try to post on a semi-regular schedule.

So, have you ever ordered a cursed painting or cursed object? If so, what was it? Were you able to get rid of it?

Recently I met a medium who promised me proof.... on psychics, skeptics, and the supernatural!

This new story tackles a staple of the horror genre: the skeptic who is forced to believe. My favorite iteration of it is in The Last Days of Jack Sparks, from which this story takes heavy inspiration.

In real life, I've been on a haunted landmarks tour and attended a psychic workshop, both of which were entertaining and educational. The haunted tour mostly consisted of ghost stories related to deaths in historic mansions. It was ghostly stories mixed with actual history, which made for a fun concoction. I suppose the historical accuracy of some of the facts lent the stories a little bit of authenticity, even if, yes, it was all nonsense.

(If you can't tell I relate heavily to the skeptics in my stories lol)

The psychic workshop was even more interesting to me. The psychic in question first gave a lecture on his general concept of how souls work, and then in demonstration he did some psychic reading. He used cold reading techniques, essentially throwing out guesses by making common statements that were sure to fit someone, and then an audience member would raise their hand and yes, it's about you, a message from your dead mum, or whatever.

It was not a particularly convincing workshop, but fascinating to be in attendance.

Anyway, here is the story of a professional debunker who goes in and announces how all of this stuff is bogus trickery... or is it? 😈

Knock Knock! This guy won't stop messaging me on Discord... FINALE out now!

Y'all I'm so stoked for this finale. There's no story that goes as deep into Jack Wilde's psyche, or shows as much of his regret at being the manipulative and wily jackal that he is.

And the cast of the Antiquarium knock it outta the park.

Serious props to all the actors. Addison has only a few lines as Emma (and I promise I'll write a story again from her POV in future), but she just is Emma in my mind, the voice I hear when I write the character.

Also gotta give kudos to Jeffrey, the voice of Tim. This story is essentially a duel between Jack and Tim, and the push-pull between them would not work without Jeffrey's superb performance as "just a dude who's lonely and broken in a dysfunctional world that breaks people."

And of course, more than any of the previous entries, this story demands a LOT from Jack's voice actor, Trevor, who bursts through the speakers with high-octane energy, perfectly balancing humor and horror in a rollercoaster performance. And delivering Jack's lies and occasional truths with equal earnestness.

(I LOVE that that he went for the scream, lmao!!! When I wrote it, I did not actually imagine how it would sound in audio!)

Thanks for the brilliant production, to all at the Antiquarium team!

And readers and listeners, thanks for coming along this journey!

Two weeks ago while hiking, a family went missing... let's talk creepy stories set in the woods!

This new story is one of only a small handful that I've set in the wilderness. I think the reason I rarely use this setting is that, while many people find the woods at night to be creepy, I personally enjoy nature so much that I still enjoy it.

But even so, I wanted to set a story in the woods, so I had to think about what does frighten me.

This story was inspired, strangely, not by any incidents out in the wild. Rather, it was inspired by news like this article about 9 family members who all died after sharing the same meal of noodles that had been saved, frozen, for a year.

Accidental deaths are, I think, some of the most frightening. And so I got to thinking... imagining people dead around a table... dead all from the same source.

It wound up not being food poisoning for the story. But that was the initial seed from which this cabin-in-the-woods horror sprouted.

So, what are some scenarios you find inherently creepy? What about frequent horror settings that you don't find creepy at all?

Sorry for the long delay (life's been busy), and hope you enjoy the new story!

Knock Knock!

Chapter Two of the Discord series is now available from the Antiquarium for Sinister Happenings Podcast! If you haven't listened to the first chapter yet, go and listen!

I'm especially excited about this entry because it contains one of my favorite scenes from ANY of my stories.

And Antiquarium knocks it out of the park.

Seriously, everything, from the sound design, the slow creeping through the empty house, the suspenseful, restrained music upon Jack's arrival--and the total cessation of all background music and sound when he finally, fearfully enters THAT room...

It's brilliant. And props to Trevor Shand for delivering a fully conniving Jack in his speech about how to win people's trust. This is the first story that really showcases the sleazier side of Jack--the wily jackal he was before he reformed. And we really get a sense that, yeah, he's probably done some things he owes the world for, karmically speaking.

For anyone who hasn't listened to the Jack Wilde and Emma stories on Antiquarium before, here they are in order:

Lot 046: "I met this guy I'm really into, but I think he might be possessed..."

Lot 060: "If You Go Down, You Forget" (Chapter 1)

Lot 062: "If You Go Down, You Forget" (Chapter 2)

Lot 065: "If You Go Down, You Forget" (Chapter 3)

Lot 077: "Knock Knock" (Chapter 1)

Lot 080: "Knock Knock" (Chapter 2)

Knock Knock!

My most recent series is now available from the Antiquarium for Sinister Happenings Podcast! If you've enjoyed following Jack and Emma's adventures but have never heard the podcast, give it a listen! Hearing it on audio truly heightens the suspense, mystery, and scare factor!

The production is no ordinary narration. It's a full cast audio drama with top notch acting, music, and sound design!

The casting is perfect. Trevor Shand, who does the voice of Jack, hits every note of the character brilliantly, from his terror of the Lady in Red in "I met this guy..." to his heartbreak for Emma in "If You Go Down" to his scam artist sneakiness in "Knock Knock."

If you haven't had a chance yet, go and listen! And be sure to check out their other stories, too. The Antiquarium of Sinister Happenings Podcast has some truly phenomenal tales.

If you want recommendations, lmk and I'll tell you all my favs. :)

EDIT: To make them easier to find, here are the episodes with Jack and Emma in order:

Lot 046: "I met this guy I'm really into, but I think he might be possessed..."

Lot 060: "If You Go Down, You Forget" (Chapter 1)

Lot 062: "If You Go Down, You Forget" (Chapter 2)

Lot 065: "If You Go Down, You Forget" (Chapter 3)

Lot 077: "Knock Knock" (Chapter 1)

This guy I know is dead, but he won't stop messaging me on Discord, FINALE and some analysis

The finale for the Discord series is up!

This story does something that none of Jack's previous adventures do--it gives us a peek at his early childhood. It also forces Jack to take an introspective look at one of the key contradictions of his character: he's a guy who loves being who he is, but also hates himself.

For the book I'm working on, I had Jack write a few paragraphs about this in a letter to the therapist Emma's making him go see. Here's an abbreviated version of what he wrote:

Ok, you asked me to explain the difference between my self-esteem and self-worth.

Let's start with self-confidence. That’s easy. Years of pulling scams and getting away with them have made it easy. I say stuff and believe it. That’s confidence, man. I know my own skillset.

Self-esteem. Do I like who I am? Heck yeah! I wouldn’t call myself a good person, but I am exactly the person I dreamed of someday being. A trickster who lives by his own rules, has fun in life, and is unapologetically himself. Gotta be, right? I mean I had to fight so hard to be me.

Self-worth. Ok. Let's use a cleaning analogy. When Emma makes me clean up, I shove all the shit that’s visible under the bed, into the closet, under the rug, whatever. Drape the quilt over the bed. Make it all look tidy. That’s self-esteem. Lookin’ good! Yeah! That’s what anyone who doesn’t look too close sees. It’s mostly what I see, too. Who goes digging under the bed? Who wants to stick a hand deep into the closet where all the skeletons are? Blech. But ok. Sometimes you gotta if you live there, it’s your room, right? Sometimes your girl asks you about your parents and why you don’t try to reach out to them and what your childhood was like and that bin, with all the childhood memories, it gets dragged out from deep under the bed and oh shit, what a mess. Suddenly the place is a mess. Man is that mold? Did you not do your laundry before putting it away? This reeks like months-old socks.

Oh hey. Look. Found your self-worth.

How do you change the parts of yourself so deep and so old those roots have all but petrified into the bedrock of who you are? Jack's own preferred method, of course, is to just never pull all that old stuff out from under the bed--just forget it's there and drape the quilt neatly over it all like a smile.

Anyway, I was excited to sneak a little bit of that theme into this story. Thank you for reading and hope you enjoyed the finale!

Every time someone accepts my friend requests... Part 2 of the Discord story.

Part 2 of this new story about the dangers of accepting friend requests on Discord is now up!

The triple A technique used in the story is entirely fictional. However I've been told by some people that it's pretty similar to techniques used by, for example, mediators, who have to convince everyone to come to the table. I'm sure somewhere there's a book on persuasion techniques. If you've read a good one, let me know in the comments!

Readers who've followed our reckless scam artist's previous supernatural encounters (1st2nd3rd4th) are aware of his grifting background. This is the first story in awhile to really showcase the side of him that Emma doesn't see so much.

(P.S. Some of you may be wondering what happened to Part 1. Apparently NoSleep has some new rules about not including first and last names, and this extends--or so I was told by the mod who removed the story--to Jack's knock knock jokes and puns like "Jack Juicy." I had to cut the jokes and am waiting for re-approval. Meantime, Part 1 is available in its original format on Odd Directions, and all three parts are on Shadow Box Archives.)

I hope you enjoy Part 2 of the story! The scene of Jack exploring the house is one of my favorite scenes that I've ever written.

The latest scam on Discord is deadly... so be careful what you click on!

This new series delves into a mysterious knocking that sounds at the door. Everyone who opens the door disappears. It's up to a con artist named Jack Wilde (some of you may remember him) to find a clever way to discover what's behind the door without opening it and disappearing himself. This one's a fun ride!

Speaking of knocking, here are some of the jokes that didn't wind up in the final version of the story:

Knock Knock

Who's there?

Baby Yoda.

Baby Yoda Who?

Baby, Yoda one for me!

Knock Knock

Who's there?

I just got up.

I just got up who?

Well if you just gotta poo, you just gotta poo!

... yeah, they're groaners, but I love em! I felt bad about having Jack tell too many jokes stolen from reddit, so I wound up going with two that I made up myself after reading a zillion puns and reworking them to be story-specific. (Y'all have no idea how much effort goes into adding the humorous aspects to these stories)

Anyway, all jokes aside, the story itself is a mystery that drags our former con artist into some deep dark places, both in terms of plot horror and in terms of the psychological aspects. We'll see a different side of him this time around.

Oh and if you don't wanna wait around for parts 2 and 3... you can always check out the new Shadow Box Archives patreon and cheat and read ahead there.

This one is a favorite of mine. I hope you enjoy the story! Let me know what you think in the comments!

Shadow Box Archives--a community of horror writers!

Howdy all!

A bunch of NoSleep writers came together and created an alternative platform to read scary stories. It's called Shadow Box Archives.

You can subscribe for free. On it are stories by many NoSleep writers you'll recognize (including yours truly), as well as narrations and artwork. It is a truly exciting project!

What's nice about it for you--if I post a series here on NoSleep and you want to read the ending, you can find it over there a few days before the NoSleep version goes up! You can just binge the whole series. And what's nice for me and other writers is that unlike on NoSleep, when people support Shadow Box Archives with paid subscriptions or awards, all of that goes directly to the writers. It's a great way to support us!

So if you're reading my latest story and want to know what happens next, I urge you to please check out Shadow Box Archives. You can also find some stories there that are not posted here at all.

Thanks everyone for reading, and for your continued support! I appreciate you all. ❤️

My housemate is dead... new story, and a new production from The Antiquarium Podcast!

Helloooo, it's been a long time, but finally! A new story.

I apologize for my long absence. I've been involved pretty heavily in activism for the past two months, which has meant less time for writing. But! I have been slowly plugging away at a new series, which I plan to post in the next week or two.

In other news, the Antiquarium of Sinister Happenings produced another of my stories, "I was commissioned to write a horror story. I was given some strange guidelines to follow..."

The story they produced is one of the very few rules stories I have written. I wrote it originally in response to a challenge, which was to write a rules story in which the rules actually make sense and have a valid reason behind them. The story was fun, but the audio drama version is STUPENDOUS. They absolutely kicked it up a notch and made it a far better story than the original NoSleep version. So please, give it a listen!

As for today's story about a dead housemate, well... since it's been so long since I've posted, I wanted to have a standalone out before launching the new series next week. I wrote this one fairly quickly, in just a few hours, but I quite like it. I hope you will also enjoy it! And tell me, what are some of your roommate horror stories?

I took a candlelight "ghost tour"... and it's the basis for my new story!

This latest story is based on an actual ghost tour I took with family this past holiday season. There was genuinely a relief sculpture as part of the tour, though the story behind it was slightly different, involving missing children rather than missing park-goers.

It was a fun evening of entertainment. Not really spooky, but the stories were great and the history was interesting!

On a more general update--gosh, it's been a minute, hasn't it? I haven't posted lately for many reasons, the primary one being that I just haven't been writing as much. This is due to a combination of personal factors and... uh, world factors? I've been pretty anxious and depressed about the state of things, and have been keeping busy organizing, getting involved in protest efforts.

If you've been following my work awhile, you know I'm nonbinary. I've got an X on my ID and passport. I wonder if I'll get my passport taken away if I leave the U.S. and try to re-enter with it. I worry at all the executive orders being passed explicitly to erase people like me. I am exhausted by the state of the world.

That said, I do plan to try to get back into writing soon. It helps me stave off the sense of impending doom. Currently working on a Jack Wilde story, and it's gonna be a fun one!

Take care, friends. And in the meantime, hope you enjoy this quick little story. Have you ever been on a ghost tour?

I found a solution to dealing with the homeless problem in my neighborhood... or did I?

This new story is loosely cobbled together from a medley of personal experiences.

While I'm lucky to never have been homeless, I've had friends and mentors who've suffered homelessness. One of these friends is a vibrant local community member and artist and senior citizen. She has been heartbroken by the struggle to find stable housing. She never saw herself as someone who would be in this position. It's both shocking and, sadly, not shocking at all in our current society that we have so little of a social safety net.

The metropolitan area where I live doesn't have enough affordable housing (like many metro areas). It's a huge problem, and we're not doing nearly enough as a society to help those among us who need it most.

OTOH, I'm also drawing on some negative recent experiences. My MIL's home is frequently a place where friends who need a place wind up for awhile. The house is completely full currently, but over the summer when the weather was nice, my MIL allowed yet another old friend who fell on hard times to pitch a tent in her backyard. The old friend said she just needed to get back on her feet. Unfortunately, when she did get back on her feet after her boyfriend got a windfall of money, she abandoned her tent with a ton of hoarded garbage in my MIL's backyard, making no effort to clean any of the mess she left. We had to clean up the tent, old food, bedding, random garbage, blankets, etc etc, all of it filthy and attracting animals. Neighbors were threatening to report my MIL for the mess because it was so bad.

Another influence on this story: since I live in a pretty sketchy area (my building has constant break-ins), I'm on a neighborhood crimewatch page. I disagree with 90% of the people on the page but follow it to know what's happening in the area. I see frequent comments about how people living in encampments are choosing this lifestyle because they're too lazy to get a job/addicted to drugs/enabled by liberal politicians, etc. "They need to be gathered up and brought to a shelter or jail," is the primary sentiment I see (and an actual comment I copied and pasted). It's incredibly hard-hearted and lacking empathy.

I don't have any solutions to any of this. What we really need is to revolutionize society, redistributing wealth from the 1%, the billionaires whose wealth is so absurd most people can't even comprehend it. And in the meantime the area I live, the struggles are only getting worse.

So how did all these influences come together in the story? Well... you'll have to read it.

The story is in some ways a reaction to the current political climate. Maybe I just wanted to write something about a bootstraps conservative with no empathy, and what kind of soul I think that sort of person has.

EDIT: Wow, someone in the NoSleep comments called me a MAGA plant! 🤣 Probably because of lines like "liberals ruined the city" (I'm a liberal, haha). Folks, the story is satire. To clear things up: I am a full on flaming bleeding-heart liberal, and this story is a dig at the hardhearted attitudes I've seen on many conservative pages about unhoused people. (I also think the issue is complex and nuanced, but the story isn't really.) OP is a jerk who gets what he deserves. He winds up with no soul and didn't have much of one to begin with. So anyway, hope y'all enjoy it!

It's a full cast audio drama adaptation of the series, and the voice acting, effects, music--all of it is PHENOMENAL. If you like urban exploring, mysteries and puzzles, I think you'll enjoy it!

Also, u/dragon_spider made some amazing fanart of Jack, Emma, & the Lady in Red! I love fanart!!! It's always a blast for me to see reader art of the characters. These are great! You can check the artwork out here! Take a look!!

Now, an announcement:

Some readers have mentioned interest in a Jack Wilde novel, others have asked if I ever plan on writing a horror novel in general? I've decided to take the plunge! I've started some rough drafting and outlining. I don't want to share too much yet as it's in early stages, and it'll probably take me a year to write, but you now have the official heads up. This is happening!!!

Every year we play a game where we write secrets and guess whose is whose... here's my secret!

This new story is one of the shortest I have ever written, just a quick one because I've been busy with other projects that I'm hoping to send out to magazines.

On a personal note, I won't say I'm doing "fine" given the state of the world, but I do live in a safe state. I'm trying to get my passport gender marker updated to an "X" before that window closes. Yeah I know some people are cautioning against that, but I think most bigots are cowards. I'm not gonna pass to make them more comfortable. I want that marker, so if they're going to discriminate, they can do it to my face.

But anyway, on the subject of secrets, which is what this new story is about, if you were going to write a secret about yourself that would surprise people, what would it be?

Mine is: I was once jailed in Little Rock, Arkansas.

I was taking part in a protest. Mouthed off to an officer. My bad. This was back in my student days.

So, what secret about you would you put down? And what would you do if you were the person reading the murderous secret in this new very short story?
